Kenneth&nbsp;E. Degenhardt, age 81, residing in Mulvane, Kansas, ended his fight with a form of progressive dementia on May 31st, 2022, at St. Francis Medical Center, Wichita, Kansas.

Kenny was born January 26th, 1941, in Pfeifer, Kansas, to Casper and Anna Margaret (Urban) Degenhardt. &nbsp;He grew up in attendance of the Holy Cross Catholic School in Pfeifer, Kansas, with daily duties as an altar boy. &nbsp;His childhood initials, still etched into a pew in the church.

In January of 1961, Kenny answered the call of duty by enlisting in the US Air Force. &nbsp;His pride in serving this country became an inflection point for all the experiences and “service to others” that would follow. &nbsp;

Trained as an electrician, Kenny owned and operated Degenhardt’s Heating and Air Conditioning in Hays, Kansas. &nbsp;He provided outstanding service to his customers for over two decades.

He also served 16 years as the Director of Facilities at the Cerebral Palsy Research Foundation in Wichita, Kansas. &nbsp;Kenny’s desire to serve others was never more appreciated by a group of people.

Not one to let the moss grow, Kenny continued to serve his military brothers and sisters after retiring. &nbsp;A celebrated volunteer recognized for the many hours of distinguished service, he absolutely loved his work at the Robert J. Dole VA Medical Center. &nbsp;

Kenny was predeceased by his parents; &nbsp;his brother, Vernon Degenhardt and an infant brother, Larry Degenhardt; his sisters, Viola “Effie” Fiffe, Ruby Antrim, Cleopha (Cleo) Klein; and his grand-daughter, Erynn Hanna.

He is survived by his wife, Jill Degenhardt of Mulvane, Kansas; Sister, Sylvia Kruse (Dave) of Hoxie, Kansas; Sister-in-law, Virginia Degenhardt of Branson, Missouri; Children: Keith Degenhardt of Hays, Kansas; Karen Rush (Rob) of Evans, Colorado; Kay Guzman (Dan) of Wichita, Kansas; Kirk Degenhardt of Hays, Kansas; &nbsp;Keri Sutter (Zac Nelling) of Oak Grove, Missouri; &nbsp;Kindra Degenhardt of Derby, Kansas; &nbsp;Kim Hanna (Eric) of Midlothian, Texas; &nbsp;Steve Griffin of Wichita, Kansas; 14 grandchildren and 2 great-grandchildren.

Funeral service will be held at 11:00 am on June 17th, at the North Woodlawn Baptist Church, 1409 N. Woodlawn Blvd, Derby, Kansas. &nbsp;Reception to follow internment.

The family suggests donations to Harry Hynes Memorial Hospice (&nbsp;<a href="http://www.hynesmemorial.org/donate">www.hynesmemorial.org/donate</a>&nbsp;) or local VAMC in lieu of flowers.

Nelda F. Boele, age 80, of Alden, Kansas, and formerly of Great Bend, 
Kansas, passed away on Sunday morning, June 5, 2022, at the Hutchinson 
Regional Medical Center in Hutchinson, Kansas, after a sudden illness.&nbsp; 


Nelda was born on June 19, 1941 at Westville, Oklahoma, to Caleb and Zola
 (Fusselman) Crowder and grew up in Ault, Colorado.&nbsp; She was united in 
marriage to Robert L. Boele on June 19, 1977, at Great Bend, Kansas.&nbsp; 
Nelda and Robert lived in Great Bend until Robert’s death in 2010, at 
which time she moved to Alden, Kansas.&nbsp; Nelda loved to drive, and loved 
to do Diamond Art, crossword puzzles and word search puzzles, and loved 
(and at times hated) John and Tracey’s dog Copper.&nbsp; She was also 
well-known for her cherry cheesecake.&nbsp; Nelda was active with the Silver 
Threads &amp; Friendship Meals at Sterling, Kansas.

Survivors include one son, John (&amp; Tracey) Boele of Alden, 
Kansas; two daughters: Stacy (&amp; Frank) Trevino of St. John, Kansas 
and Tammula Boele of Great Bend, Kansas; three grandchildren:&nbsp; Bryant 
Boele, Kylie Boele, and Christian Trevino; two great-grandchildren Gavin
 and Delanie; one brother Ken (&amp; Nancy) Crowder of Greeley, 
Colorado.&nbsp; Nelda was preceded in death by her parents and her husband 
Robert Lee Boele on February 17, 2010.

Funeral Services will be held at 10:00 AM on Thursday, June 9, 2022,&nbsp; at Charter Funerals in Great Bend, Kansas with Pastor Tonya Andrews 
officiating.&nbsp; Interment will be in the Great Bend Cemetery at Great

Shawn Eugene Enlow, 47, of Russell, Kansas, passed away May 30, 2022. He was born January 5, 1975, in Lyons, Kansas, the son of David Enlow and Paula J. Manwarren. Shawn was a near lifelong Lyons resident. He graduated from Lyons High School with the class of 1993. Shawn was a block press operator for Lyons Salt Plant, Lyons. He enjoyed fishing and playing his guitar. 

Shawn in survived by his father, David Enlow and wife Angie of Lyons, KS; mother, Paula Manwarren of Rose Hill, KS; stepfather, Marvin Webber of Rose Hill, KS; paternal grandmother, Joyce Enlow of Lyons, KS; three sisters, Sandy Bradley and husband Jason of Wichita, KS, Amber Taffola and husband Josh of Hutchinson, KS, and Tiffany Groth of Hutchinson, KS; five nephews; and two nieces. He is preceded in death by his paternal grandfather, Ralph Enlow; materal grandparents; Dale and Ruth Manwarren; and uncle, Robert Cousins.

Dorothy Lydia (Nider) Penny

Lilah Elizabeth Folkerts, 90, passed away on May 27, 2022, at home in 
Great Bend, Kansas. She was born on September 12, 1931, to Louis &amp; 
Martha (Steitz) Folkerts, of Rush Center, Kansas.

Lilah attended a country grade school and graduated from Larned High 
School in 1949. She worked for many years as a Loan Officer at First 
National Bank and Trust in Larned. Lilah moved to Great Bend and worked 
part-time, retiring due to health issues.

She is preceded in death by her parents; and one infant brother, Lyle Kenneth Folkerts.

There will be no visitation as cremation has taken place. Services 
are pending. Memorials have been designated to the Lilah E. Folkerts 
Memorial Fund or Peace Lutheran Church of Albert, in care of Bryant 
Funeral Home.

Curtis Eugene Bunting, 64, of Olmitz, Kansas, died on Saturday, June 4, 2022, at the Clara Barton Hospital in Hoisington, Kansas.

Curtis was born on September 5, 1957, in Russell, Kansas, the son of
 Conrad E. and Opal L. (Blew) Bunting.&nbsp; He grew up in Russell, Kansas 
and graduated from Russell High School in the class of 1975.&nbsp; Later, he 
graduated with a business and communications degree from Fort Hays State
 University. He lived in Wichita, Kansas, Amarillo and Lubbock, Texas. 
He moved back to Russell, then Olmitz, Kansas, where he made his 
permanent home, 10 years ago. He loved to remodel his homes putting his 
artistic touch to each one. He also had an antique business called the 
Rustic Peddler. He enjoyed auctions, collecting, restoring and selling 
antiques. He saw the beauty in what others considered junk. He was very 
artistic, he painted numerous paintings on canvas, saw blades and water 
cans. His family was very important to him and enjoyed researching 
genealogy. He had a passion for writing and was in the middle of writing
 his first novel. He taught himself to play the guitar and wrote music 
for several songs that were recorded in a recording studio, under the 
name “Red Bunting”. &nbsp;He loved animals, he raised and sold Long Haired 
Dachshunds for several years. His latest pet was a Ragdoll cat, Rufus, 
that he adopted. He currently worked as a senior consultant for G.A. 
Consultants, in Hoisington, for past 8 years.&nbsp;

Surviving family include his sister Cindy Hoferer and husband Paul of
 O’Neill, Nebraska and brother Chris Bunting of Broken Arrow, Oklahoma. 
Nephews, Jeff Hoferer and wife Cassi, Joe Hoferer and wife Amy, and Josh
 Hoferer. Great-nephew and niece Nolan and Autumn Hoferer. Aunts, 
Uncles, numerous cousins and friends.

Also surviving, who he considered his second family that he wished he
 found years ago are, G.A. Consultants, Greg and Beckie Armstrong, Pam 
Hickel and Chris Howell, and Seth Orebaugh.

A celebration of Curtis’ life will be held at 1:30 P.M. on Friday, 
June 10, 2022, at the Pohlman-Varner-Peeler Mortuary in Russell, 
Kansas.&nbsp; Burial will follow at the Russell City Cemetery.&nbsp; Open 
visitation and viewing will be from 9 A.M. to service time on Friday,

Barbara Ann Nowak, age&nbsp;68, of Great Bend, Kansas,&nbsp;passed away Wednesday, March 23, 2022, at her home.

Barbara was born on December 12, 1953,&nbsp;in Hays, Kansas, the&nbsp;oldest daughter to Vernon and Lillian (Sander) Nowak&nbsp;of&nbsp;Gorham, Kansas.

She grew up in Gorham, Kansas, and was a 1972&nbsp;graduate of Gorham High School. After high school, she attended Vo-Tech Nurse’s Aide Class in Salina, Kansas.&nbsp;Barbara worked many years in the Hays and Great Bend communities&nbsp;in health care,&nbsp;fulfilling her desire to help others in need.&nbsp;

Survivors include&nbsp;her mother,&nbsp;Lillian Nowak,&nbsp;Salina, KS;&nbsp;her&nbsp;brothers,&nbsp;David Nowak,Salina, KS;&nbsp;Tom&nbsp;Nowak and wife, Mary, Salina, KS;&nbsp;John Nowak,&nbsp;Salina,&nbsp;KS;&nbsp;her sisters,Kay&nbsp;Schmitt and husband, Leonard,&nbsp;Salina,&nbsp;KS;&nbsp;Vernetta Hammersmith,&nbsp;White City,&nbsp;KS;Marilyn Labinski,&nbsp;Olathe,&nbsp;KS;&nbsp;many nephews and nieces, and a lifetime of friends.

A Christian Celebration of Life Service will be held at&nbsp;1:00 P.M. Sunday, June 12, 2022, at&nbsp;the&nbsp;Central Baptist Church,&nbsp;3301 Lakin Ave.,&nbsp;Great Bend, Kansas&nbsp;with Pastor Charlotte Maxwell officiating.

The family will receive friends at a&nbsp;noon luncheon&nbsp;that&nbsp;will be served at the church prior to the service.&nbsp;

There will be an inurnment&nbsp;following&nbsp;the services&nbsp;at&nbsp;Saint Mary’s&nbsp;Catholic Cemeteryin Russell, Kansas.

Knox loved being outside, climbing and PJ Mask. He also loved talking
 on the phone, animals, the water and playing with his brothers.

Darlene A. Heronema, 80, Hays, died Saturday, June 4, 2022, at Ellis Good Samaritan Society.

She was born June 11, 1941, in Victoria,
 the daughter of Frank J. and Catherine E. (Wittman) Dreiling.&nbsp; In 1959,
 she graduated from Victoria High School as salutatorian of her class.&nbsp; 
On May 30, 1964, she he was united in marriage to LeRoy J. Heronema in 
Victoria, and they celebrated nearly 45 years of marriage before he died
 on February 19, 2009.&nbsp; For many years she had a daycare in her home and
 then worked at K-Mart until it closed.&nbsp; She was a member of St. Joseph 
Catholic Church and enjoyed puzzle books, watching classic TV shows like
 The Andy Griffith Show and Little House on the Prairie, and the Game 
Show Network.&nbsp; Darlene enjoyed a tasty red beer, casino trips, and was 
the life of the party who relished time with her friends and family.

Survivors include her son: William 
Heronema of Hays, two daughters: Vicki LaBarge and husband Kevin of 
Ellis and Sherri Flagor and husband Jack of Hays, a brother: Norman 
Dreiling of Pottsboro, TX, a sister: Kathleen Dreiling and husband 
Marvin of Hays, five grandchildren: Chelsea Heronema, Joshua Adcock, 
Justin Adcock, Brianna LaBarge, and Dacia LaBarge, a step granddaughter:
 Kristin Millard, a great grandson: Oliver Adcock-Smies, a step great

at Swedish Medical Center, in Englewood, CO. Jake was born December 5, 
2000, in Quinter, KS, to Jason and Dana (Juenemann) Geisinger. He 
graduated from Hoxie High School in 2019 and from the Precision 
Agriculture program at Northwest Kansas Technical College, in Goodland, 
in 2021. Jake was a member of the Knights of Columbus and St. Frances 
Cabrini Church, in Hoxie. He enjoyed fishing, welding, woodworking, and 
especially, the farming lifestyle. Jake spent his days doing what he 
loved, working on the family farm. 
He was preceded in death by his grandparents, Helen Juenemann and John and Julia Geisinger. 
He is survived by his parents; siblings Karlee and Nash Geisinger;

She was a member of St. Francis of Assisi Catholic Church and Christian Mothers both in Munjor, Kansas. She enjoyed doing Diamond Art, Puzzles and playing Skip-Bo with her grandchildren. Mary Lou was also involved with SER Corp as a Foster Grandmother, ARC and Relay for Life. Lloyd Wolf, 80, died June 1, 2022, at Diversicare, Sedgwick, KS.&nbsp; He 
was born August 16, 1941, in Colby, KS, to Willard and Alice (Weber) 
Wolf.

He attended Colby High School.&nbsp; Lloyd worked in sales for Farmland 
Industries for many years and then sold metal buildings for other 
companies. Lloyd was an avid golfer and enjoyed RVing in his later 
years.&nbsp; He loved his family. Lloyd’s favorite pastime was spending time 
with his family.

On May 19, 1962, he married Karen Kay McBride, in Colby. They shared 60 years together.&nbsp;&nbsp;

He is survived by:&nbsp; wife, Karen, Hutchinson; sons, Craig (Beth) Wolf,
 Hutchinson, and Todd (Carol) Wolf, Inman; grandchildren, MariBeth 
(Dustin) Jackson, Windom, Mitchell Wolf, Lawrence, and Kylie (Garrett) 
Weems, Coupeville, WA; step-grandchildren, Kristine (Matt) Krivensky, 
Elizabethtown, KY, and Stephanie (Jason) Moen, Inman; five 
great-grandchildren, Maddilynn, Colton, Cayson, Larkin, and Wyatt; and 
step- great-grandchildren, Dominic, Kaleb, Allison, and Natalia.

Lloyd was preceded in death by his parents and a brother, Gary.

Cremation has taken place.&nbsp; Graveside service will be 1 pm on 
Wednesday, June 8, 2022, at Memorial Park Cemetery, Hutchinson, 
officiated by Mark Pennington. Celebration of Life will be from 2-4 pm at
 the 4-H Building on the Kansas State Fairgrounds.&nbsp;

was born August 16, 1941, in Colby, KS, to Willard and Alice (Weber) 
Wolf.He attended Colby High School.&nbsp; Lloyd worked in sales for Farmland 
Industries for many years and then sold metal buildings for other 
companies. Lloyd was an avid golfer and enjoyed RVing in his later 
years.&nbsp; He loved his family. Lloyd’s favorite pastime was spending time 
with his family.On May 19, 1962, he married Karen Kay McBride, in Colby. They shared 60 years together.&nbsp;&nbsp;He is survived by:&nbsp; wife, Karen, Hutchinson; sons, Craig (Beth) Wolf,
 Hutchinson, and Todd (Carol) Wolf, Inman; grandchildren, MariBeth 
(Dustin) Jackson, Windom, Mitchell Wolf, Lawrence, and Kylie (Garrett) 
Weems, Coupeville, WA; step-grandchildren, Kristine (Matt) Krivensky, 
Elizabethtown, KY, and Stephanie (Jason) Moen, Inman; five 
great-grandchildren, Maddilynn, Colton, Cayson, Larkin, and Wyatt; and 
step- great-grandchildren, Dominic, Kaleb, Allison, and Natalia.Lloyd was preceded in death by his parents and a brother, Gary.Cremation has taken place.&nbsp; Graveside service will be 1 pm on 
Wednesday, June 8, 2022, at Memorial Park Cemetery, Hutchinson, 
officiated by Mark Pennington. Celebration of Life will be from 2-4 pm at

Elijah Alexander Norris, 17, passed away June 4, 2022, at his home in Burdett.

He was born January 5, 2005, in Hays, Kansas, the son of Geoffrey C. 
Norris and Irina Sretenski.&nbsp; A lifetime resident of Burdett, he enjoyed 
working with his father at Norris Propane and Norris Farms, where he had
 a passion for farming and mechanic work.

He was a member of Faith Fellowship Church, Gray, Kansas. Elijah was a
 perfectionist, had a strong work ethic and was a connoisseur of Snap-On
 Tools. He had the ability and talent to fix anything and loved helping 
friends and family.&nbsp; He was never afraid to let you know what he was 
thinking.

Survivors include: parents, Geoffrey C. Norris and Irina Sretenski, 
both of Burdett; sister, Marie Norris (Hayden), Burdett; grandmother, 
Valentina and great grandmother, Anna.

Funeral will be at 10:30 a.m. Tuesday, June 7, 2022, at Faith 
Fellowship Church, Gray, Kansas, with Pastor Doug Ellison presiding.&nbsp;

Elijah Alexander Norris

Marsha Crook passed away peacefully on June 4, 2022, after a courageous 
battle with Alzheimer’s disease at the age of 68. She was born on 
September 30, 1953, in Colby, KS to Lyle and Margaret Gillispie.&nbsp; She 
married Jack Crook on February 15, 1976, and they went on to have two 
sons, Jeff and Jeret. 
With a passion for teaching, Marsha graduated from Colby High School and
 then earned her Bachelor’s of Education from Fort Hays State University
 in 1976. Marsha taught with a servant’s heart and loved setting her 
young students up for future success. Her career spanned three decades 
at four elementary schools: St Dominic Catholic School, Plymell, Jennie 
Wilson, and Holcomb where the families she served described her as 
devoted, patient, and loving. Her legacy of love lives on in the hearts 
of hundreds of students. 
Family and close friends will remember Marsha’s joyful spirit and her 
love of music and dancing. Never will they hear a Journey song again 
without thinking of her. When she wasn’t teaching, you could likely find
 her cheering for KU athletics, selling candles, swimming in her pool, 
and caring for her beloved pets. 
But, her family was her ultimate pride and joy. As a devoted mom, she 
loved supporting her boys in their childhood passion of sprint car 
racing. She championed their strengths and instilled some of her best 
traits of patience and empathy in them. Always a great listener, Marsha 
provided a safe space as a friend and confidant. When her boys had 
children of their own, Marsha became the ultimate grandma by providing a
 fun-filled second home for her grandchildren and taking frequent trips 
to Dallas to spoil the youngest of her grandchildren. 
She is survived by her husband Jack Crook, Jeff and Natalie Crook (Jaden
 and Jenna), Jeret and Laura Crook (Caroline, Henry, and Patrick), her 
siblings Sherri Hiebert, Jodie Ackerman, Randy Gillispie, Richard 
Gillispie. 
Funeral Service will be at 10:30 AM Wednesday at Turning Point Church Of

Marsha Crook

Gary Alan Biles, 75, passed away June 4, 2022, at Hutchinson Regional
 Medical Center, Hutchinson.&nbsp; He was born August 19, 1946, in Great 
Bend, to Orville and Thelma (Cain) Biles. Gary married Julita (Campbell)
 Howard Aug. 10, 1994, in Russell.

Gary had been a Hoisington resident since 1996, coming from Russell 
and Larned, and spent most of his growing up years in Palco.&nbsp; Gary was a
 member of the First United Methodist Church, Hoisington, SRCA, former 
member of the Mid America MOPAR Association, and enjoyed drag racing, 
fishing and hunting in his younger years.&nbsp; During his more active career
 years, Gary managed a fuel station in Larned, worked in construction 
and the oilfield, and was a mechanic, plumber and carpenter.&nbsp; Never 
having idle hands, more recently his time was occupied with lawn care, 
landscaping and tireless volunteerism.

Survivors include his wife, Julita of the home; children, Jeremy 
Biles (Kellie) of Jasper Mo., Ondrya Hardten (Jerry) of Great Bend, 
Christine Schultz (Jared) of Ellsworth, Sheri Howard of Virginia City, 
Minn., and John D. Howard, III of Wahiawa, Hawaii; one brother, Rick 
Biles of Russell; one sister Sara Billinger (John) of Hill City; 15 
grandchildren, Kirk Mannette, Alyssa Mannette, Taylor Biles, Katelyn 
Biles, Kylee Biles, Aaron Scheck, James Waller, Caitlynn Waller, Emily 
Waller, Ryan Schultz, Addie Rose Schultz, Samantha Howard, Ava Haavisto,
 Alexis Howard and Lily Howard; and four great grandchildren, Michael 
Mannette, Kaiser Mannette, Magnolia Biles and James Logan Waller.

He was preceded in death by one brother, John Biles; and two sisters, infant Sharon Biles and Joan Biles.

Gary Alan Biles

Zola Faye (Kauffman) Irwin, daughter of Joseph and Agnes (Andrews) 
Kauffman was born August 4, 1928, in rural Cheraw, Colorado, and passed 
from this life in Beloit, Kansas, on May 30, 2022, at the age of 93. Zola 
was the youngest and the last survivor of nine children, 6 brothers, and
 2 sisters. By her telling, she was a favorite especially of the older 
boys, and was protected and a bit spoiled. In 1935, her father and her 
oldest brother Enos both died, one of the hardest events of her family’s
 life and one she talked about throughout her life.

Zola attended grade and high school in Cheraw. She was a popular 
girl with her schoolmates and had many friends in the community and the 
local Mennonite church her family attended. She graduated in 1946 in a 
class of 13 members. She attended Brown Business College in LaJunta, 
Colorado, where she and her mother then resided. She worked in a 
doctor’s office there.

She was married to her high school sweetheart, Paul Irwin after 
his return from 2 years in the US Navy. The wedding took place in the 
home of her brother Alvin and the officiating pastor was her brother 
Jess. Her dress was made by her and her mother with silk that Paul 
brought home from his time in Japan after WWII.

The couple started out in Denver, where Paul attended college and 
Zola worked for another doctor. They soon moved to Hesston, Kansas, 
where he attended college. Over the next ten years, they lived in three 
other small communities in southern Kansas, where he was a student 
pastor.

They had five children over six years, Lloyd, Agnes, Naomi, Greta, and Esther.

Zola served her family by managing their care while Paul finished 
seminary. Paul said she served well as a pastor’s wife and assisted in 
church duties while he was away during the week at school. She was an 
excellent seamstress and made most clothes for the four girls, including
 elaborate matching Easter dresses each year.

As the children became teenagers, Zola worked in the school 
superintendent’s office and the high school library. When they moved to 
Wichita in 1972, she worked in an insurance office. A few years later 
when they retired early from the ministry, they set up a business in 
Hays, and she also worked in the college library. She enjoyed working at
 libraries as she was a voracious reader. During those years, she 
brought her mother, Agnes Kauffman, to live with them, caring for her as
 she aged. They returned to the ministry as their daughter Naomi and her
 family took over the business. After their retirement in 1993, Zola and
 Paul traveled at a leisurely pace across most of the USA and parts of 
Canada while living in their fifth wheel camper they fondly called the 
“Cramalot Inn”. They visited family and friends and saw the sights of 
the USA for three years. They moved to Argonia, Kansas and enjoyed 
longtime friends until moving to Fort Morgan, Colorado for 13 years. 
Tragically, their daughter Naomi Isom died in a car accident in 2003. 
Ten years later, they were invited to live with their daughter Greta in 
Beloit, Kansas and stayed there until Paul died in 2021, followed by 
Zola a year later. They were lovingly cared for by Greta and grandson 
Cas Davis at the home.

Family was Zola’s life work, both immediate, extended, and church 
families. She called people on their birthdays, and played with and 
enjoyed her grandchildren. There were huge holiday gatherings with 
siblings’ families, delicious food, and graceful conversation. She told 
stories of her childhood that were rich in detail and nuance, so we felt
 that she understood how she lived and loved. Her circle of longtime 
friends was large. Yet on her 93rd birthday, she had a party 
with a dozen other “old” ladies that she had met since moving to Beloit.
 Many people we contacted after her death, as well as greeting cards we 
read noted how special she was. Her children agree wholeheartedly; we 
remember so many things she taught us and did for and with us.

She was preceded in death by her daughter, Naomi, and her husband 
of 73 years, Paul. She is survived by children, Lloyd (Darlene), Agnes 
(Charles), Greta, and Esther (Terry; 8 grandchildren; 19 
great-grandchildren; and 3 great-great-grandchildren.

Memorial services will be at 11 AM Wednesday, June 22, at the 
Beloit First United Methodist Church. In lieu of flowers, memorials may 
be given to Solomon Valley Hospice or the Church.

Mary Louise Pfannenstiel, age 72, of Hays, Kansas passed away Friday, June 3, 2022, in Wichita, Kansas.

June 10, 2022, at St. Francis of Assisi Catholic Church in Munjor with 
Fr. Damion Richards officiating. Private burial will be in the church 
cemetery.

Mary Louise Pfannenstiel

Agnes Lucille (Coffman) Noah, was born January 29th, 1937, in Loudon 
County, Tennessee, to Charles Adam and Mary Elizabeth (Bivens) Coffman. 
She passed away Friday, June 3, 2022, at the Hays Medical Center in Hays,
 KS at the age of 85. She worked many jobs as a dishwasher and 
housekeeper.
 On November 26th, 1957, Agnes was united in marriage to James Pearl 
“JP” Noah and to this union, one daughter was born, Joyce Diane.
 She was preceded in death by her parents, brothers; Jake McCoy, 
Clyde, Pearley, Paul Dale, John Henry and sisters; Rossi May, Rosie 
and Betty Jane.
 She is survived by a daughter, Joyce Stephenson and fiancé Eric 
Gosla of Downs, KS; grandchildren; Robbie Noah (Samantha), JP Noah 
“Nugget” and Vincent Stephenson; sister Mary Jo and many nieces and 
nephews.&nbsp;

Terry Salmans, 71, passed away June 4, 2022, at Hodgeman County Health Center, Jetmore.

He was born September 23, 1950, in Jetmore; the son of Junior and Maxine McKibbin Salmans.

A lifetime area resident, he was a member of the First Baptist 
Church, Hanston, volunteered on the Hanston Fire Department, was a past 
member of the Hanston School Board and Hanston City Council and was a 
member of the Owner Operator Independent Drivers Association.&nbsp;&nbsp; Prior to
 owning and operating Salmans Trucking; he worked with the family 
business’ Salmans Harvesting and Salmans Construction.

On September 29, 1972, he married Danetta Schartz in Great Bend, Kansas.&nbsp; She survives.

Other survivors include; his mother, Maxine Salmans, Jetmore, two 
daughters, Tara Salmans, Dodge City and Sidni (Mitchell) Durler, 
Jetmore; two brothers, Jay (Jeanne) Salmans, Montezuma and Lane (Lisa) 
Salmans, Gruver, Texas; his granddaughter Dylan Durler and his grandson 
Dalton Durler; a brother-in-law, Jim Byrum, Dodge City and three 
sisters-in-law, Cetra Salmans, Hays, and Eddi Spacil and Jacque Knop 
both of Wakeeney and numerous nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by; his father, Junior Salmans, a brother, Marc Salmans and a sister, Janet Byrum.

Funeral Service will be 2:00 p.m. Tuesday at First Baptist Church, 
Hanston with Pastor Rod McMillan presiding.&nbsp; Visitation will be 9:00 
a.m. to 8:00 p.m. Monday with family present from 6-8pm at Beckwith 
Funeral Home, Jetmore.&nbsp; Burial will be in the Fairmount Cemetery, 
Jetmore, Kansas.

Terry Salmans

Adolph “Duff” Gerard Laska was called home Thursday,
 June 2nd, 2022. He was born December 31st, 1960, in Omaha, Nebraska to 
Adolph J. and Lucille L. Laska. Duff graduated from Stockton High School
 in 1979, continuing his education at Dodge City Junior College on a 
track scholarship.

He previously worked at OCCK, serving at the Saline County Sheriff’s 
Department, a Marshall of Tipton, KS, Sheriff’s Deputy in Mitchell 
County, as well as a local commercial and residential electrician. Duff 
also worked for the city of Salina as a groundskeeper before retiring. 
Duff loved fishing, watching Nebraska Huskers football, motorcycles, 
building model airplanes, gardening and his animals, but being a 
grandfather gave him the greatest joy.

Duff married the love of his life Ada M. Browning of Mankato, 
Minnesota on March 21st, 1987, in Greeley, Colorado. They were blessed 
with six children and thirteen grandchildren. Duff leaves behind his 
wife of thirty-five years, Ada Laska, his sons: Seth Laska (Jamie), 
Valen Laska (Hannah), and Shaw Laska (Chloe) of Salina KS, his 
daughters: Cameron Laska of Topeka, KS, Mariah Bieker of Brookville, KS,
 and Shea Orth (Curtis) of Minneapolis, KS, his seven grandsons and five
 granddaughters. His sisters Connie Kriley, Cindy Murphy (Stan), Virgi 
Laska, Michelle Laska, Lucy Beilman, brother-in-law Gary Scott, and 
numerous nieces and nephews. Duff was preceded in death by his daughter 
Kyra, parents Adolph and Lucille Laska, his sister Katy Scott, and 
brother-in-law Eldon Kriley.

Visitation will be held Monday, June 6th, 2022, at Ryan Mortuary from
 5:00-8:00 p.m., with vigil at 6 p.m. Mass will be held Tuesday, June 
7th, 2022, at Sacred Heart Cathedral at 10:00 a.m. His family will have a
 private burial.

the Scott County Hospital in Scott City, Kansas.&nbsp; He was born on

Genevieve Rictor Schoonover.&nbsp; Leo was a lifetime resident of Scott City,
 Kansas.

Leo
 was a shoeshine boy at Chick’s Barber Shop early in his life.&nbsp; Later he
 was a Linotype operator at The News Chronicle newspaper in Scott City.&nbsp;
 He later owned and operated Schoonover Printing in Scott City from 1974
 until retiring in 2006.&nbsp; Leo enjoyed deer hunting with his uncles, 
bowling with his friends, fishing with his kids, and camping with the 
family.&nbsp; He was a member of the First Christian Church in Scott City, 
KS.

On June 18, 1971, he married Marlene Smith in Scott City, Kansas.&nbsp; She passed away on July 24, 2019, in Scott City, Kansas.

Survivors
 include his Son - Doug &amp; his wife Vonnie Schoonover of Vero Beach, 
Florida, His&nbsp; Daughter - Kaye Schoonover of Colorado Springs, Colorado, 
Two Sisters - Verda Dietz of Hays, Kansas, and Letha Williamson of 
Baldwin City, Kansas, One Granddaughter - Lexy Schoonover of Sunrise, 
Florida, One Grandson - Alex Schoonover of Fort Collins, Colorado,&nbsp;

He was preceded in death by his parents, and his wife - Marlene.

Leo Melvin Schoonover

Margaret Marie Zecha, 96, passed away June 3, 2022, at Diversicare of
 Larned. She was born on June 9, 1925, in Hitschmann to William and 
Clara (Hoffman) Krier. She married Irvin Steve Zecha on April 29, 1947. 
He died August 22, 1990.

A resident of Great Bend since 1947, coming from Claflin, Margaret 
was an active owner and operator of Irvin S. Zecha Custom 
Combining/Irvin S. Zecha and Sons Custom Combining from 1947 to 1990, 
cooking tirelessly for the crew. She was a member of Prince of Peace 
Parish at St. Rose of Lima Catholic Church in Great Bend, Altar Society 
and Daughters of Isabella.&nbsp; She enjoyed gardening, puzzles, volunteering
 at Riley School, and playing cards with her family and friends.&nbsp; Above 
all, she cherished time spent with her family.

Survivors include, four sons, Rocky Zecha (Cindy), Kelly Zecha 
(Rehna) and Kirk Zecha (Jill) all of Great Bend, and Clay Zecha 
(Kristine) of Maize; a daughter, Brenda Flynn (Don) of Great Bend; a 
sister, Catherine Seifert of Hunter; and 25 grandchildren and 24 great 
grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Irvin Zecha; a
 son, Ronald Zecha; her brother, Bernard Krier and his wife Marilyn; a 
granddaughter, Amanda Zecha; and a brother-in-law Gene Seifert.

Visitation will be held from 9:00 a.m. to 8:00 p.m., Wednesday June 
8, 2022, at Bryant Funeral Home, with Altar Society Rosary at 4:00 p.m. 
and Vigil service with Daughters of Isabella Rosary at 7:00 p.m. Mass of
 Christian Burial will be held at 10:30 a.m., June 9, at St. Rose of 
Lima Catholic Church. Interment will follow at Hillcrest Memorial Park 
in Great Bend. 

Memorials have been designated to American Heart
