Bernita Jean (Duffey) Gawith was born September 10, 1935, on the family
farm in Menlo to Ray and Eva (Moos) Duffey. Bernita was the 9th of 12
children. She loved spending time with her siblings.
Bernita married Mike Gawith on July 30, 1955, in Colby, KS. They were
blessed with three children: Gary (Jeannie), Peggy, and Scott (Misty).
Bernita’s interests were sewing for her family, quilting and her button collection.
Bernita was preceded in death by her parents, Ray and Eva; brothers,
Chet and Harold Duffey; sisters, Eileen Murphy, Madine Benda, Winifred
Smith, Juanita Kling, and Freda Weyand, and grandson, Brett Gawith.
She is survived by husband, Mike; sons, Gary (Jeannie) and Scott (Misty); daughter, Peggy; siblings: Cleo Duffey, Nina Brandt, Leona Steiger, and Loreda Wagner; grandchildren, Matt (Monica), Abby (Jason), Lacey (Jebb), Gunner, Madison (Caleb), and great grandchildren, Edward and Cora Gawith, and Tenley and Blake Tally.
