Marvin A. Beougher, age 87, of Grainfield, Kansas, passed away on Thursday, August 4, 2022, at Sheridan County Health Center in Hoxie, Kansas. Marvin was born November 9, 1934, to Merlyn and Vivian (Smith) Beougher, in Gove, Kansas. He graduated from Gove Rural High School with the class of 1952.

Marvin married Marilea JoAnne Johnson on February 12, 1956, in Gove at the Gove United Methodist Church, and together they enjoyed 63 years of marriage until her passing in 2019. Marvin and Marilea were blessed with two children, son Marlin, and daughter Marvel.

Marvin was drafted into the United States Army in April of 1958, where he served 1 year in Fort Sill, Oklahoma before being deployed to Neckarsulm, Germany for an additional year, serving as the Postal Officer in the 46th Artillery Group. After returning home in April of 1960, Marvin served an additional two years in the standby reserve, as well as 2 years in the ready reserve, before receiving his Honorable Discharge in April of 1964.

Marvin was the comptroller for the Gove County Cooperative and Midwest Co-op for 44 years until his retirement in April of 1997. He was commander of the Grainfield American Legion in 2011, a member of the Gove County Historical Association Museum, and a Kansas Hunter Safety Education instructor for 50 years. He was also a member of the Lion’s Club, Grainfield UMC Lay Leader, and founder of Beougher Field. Marvin enjoyed fishing, hunting, and all kinds of sports.

Marvin is survived by his son Marlin Beougher (Janet Bainter) of Hoxie, Kansas; daughter Marvel (Douglas) Blank of Valley Center, Kansas; grandchildren Meghann (Michael) Stiglitz of Maize, Kansas, Brandon (Morgan) Beougher of Oakley, Kansas, Tyler (Kelli) Beougher of Jetmore, Kansas, Chelsie (Tyler) Akers of Dodge City, Kansas, Dalton Beougher of Hays, Kansas, Dylan (Whitney) Bainter of Hoxie, Kansas, Brady (Ashtynn) Bainter of Grainfield, Kansas, and Tori Bainter of Hoxie, Kansas; great-grandchildren Savannah, Shanlee, Adalee, and Lynden Beougher of Oakley, Kansas, Reed, Renna, and Nash Beougher of Jetmore,Kansas, Joslynn, Jensen, and Jersey Stiglitz of Maize, Kansas, Carson, Averie, Tylinn, and Gatlin Akers of Dodge City, Kansas, and Aveyah Danner, and Renli Bainter of Grainfield, Kansas; and brother-in-law Delbert Johnson Jr. (Gini) of Newton, Kansas.

Marvin was preceded in death by his wife Marilea; parents Merlyn and Vivian; brothers Loren and Elton Beougher; and sister Ima Lee Heier.

Visitation will be from 5:00-7:00 PM on Wednesday, August 10, 2022, at Schmitt Funeral Home, Quinter.

Funeral services will be held at 10:00 AM on Thursday, August 11, 2022, at Grainfield United Methodist Church, Grainfield, with Pastor Brad Griffith officiating. Burial will follow at Gove City Cemetery.
