Does your family have a tradition that has continued for many, many years?

As a child I knew that Christmas Eve was spent at the Rasmussen’s for a Swedish supper, Christmas morning was at our own house and later on Christmas Day we were at Grandma Pachta’s house for roast duck and dumplings. Many of our family members lived within 15 miles of each other so it all worked. Eventually the traditions had to change. However, there is still someone who brings Lutfisk to the family Christmas gathering!&nbsp;

Traditions often give us a feeling that even though some things have changed, there are still things that we know will always be the same. Traditions can give us that sense of security that everything is going to be alright.&nbsp;

In a Utah State University Extension publication, “Strengthening Family Ties - A Workbook of Activities Designed to Strengthen Family Relationships”, there are activities related to five areas of family functioning including: Building Trust, Family Support, Kindness, Communication, and Working Together. &nbsp;

One activity is to identify what family traditions exist and decide what new ones might be started to ensure family stability.&nbsp;

1. Give everyone in your family a piece of paper and ask them to list the traditions in your family. These can include some things done every day and others done only once a year.&nbsp;

2. Then compare lists. It might be surprising to hear what traditions others think are important.&nbsp;

3. Evaluate. Are there some everyone would like to do more? Are there some that are no longer enjoyable.

4. Add to the list. Is there something you would like to become a new tradition? Is there anything you would like your family to be known for? Starting new traditions can be especially important when the family situation has changed - such as when a new step-family has been formed.

Continue to re-evaluate. Over the years there may be changes that need to be made. Make sure that your family does not outgrow the tradition. Research is clear that children who feel securely attached and have strong family relationships have healthier relationships and better mental health later in life.&nbsp;

UNRUH: Family traditions

Ellis County Health Department received its first allocation of COVID-19 vaccine Tuesday. We
received a limited quantity that we have started administering to Phase 1a personnel which includes
“health care personnel paid and unpaid, who are likely to be exposed to or treat people with COVID-19
or infectious materials and are unable to work from home” according to KDHE. 

Following this guidance,
the first round of vaccines will be administered to Emergency Medical Service personnel, Health
Department personnel and Medical Office Physicians and staff throughout Ellis County. We are working
closely with the medical community of Ellis County to prioritize and distribute the vaccine as quickly as
possible. Please be patient and follow current best practices as we work with KDHE and CDC to provide
vaccination as quickly as possible.


Do NOT gather in groups. 
Do social distance. 
Do wash your hands frequently. 
Do wear a mask if you cannot socially distance. 
Do isolate immediately if you feel ill. 
Do call your doctor for questions regarding your symptoms and testing.
Do continue to protect yourself, loved ones and the community.

🎙 Post Podcast: Vaccine distribution; fewer new cases reasons to be hopeful

SHERMAN COUNTY—One person was injured in an accident just before 8a.m. Wednesday in Sherman County.

The Kansas Highway Patrol reported a 2017 Freightliner semi driven by Said Farah Adan, 30, Columbus, Ohio, was westbound on Interstate 70 ten miles west of Goodland.&nbsp;

The semi traveled off the road, entered the median and overturned.

EMS transported&nbsp;Adan to the hospital in Goodland. A passenger was not injured. They were not wearing seat belts, according to the KHP.

Driver hospitalized after semi overturns on I-70

A Hays resident is safely in custody after an apparent suicide-by-cop attempt in Hays on Wednesday morning.

At around 10:22 a.m., the Hays Police Department received a report of a suspect armed with two knives attempting to enter a Northwest Kansas Community Corrections office at 1011 Fort.

Responding officers found Armando L. Martinez, Hays, in the lobby, said Hays Chief of Police Don Scheibler, armed with two knives.

HPD Lt. Tim Greenwood entered first and was immediately confronted by Martinez.

Greenwood began issuing verbal commands to drop the weapons.

After Martinez refused to comply, Detective J.B. Burkholder drew a Taser and deployed the weapon, striking Martinez.

"The Taser worked like we like it to, causing him to drop to the ground and causing him to drop both knives," Scheibler said.

Officers were then able to detain Martinez without further incident.

"Investigations revealed this appears to be an attempt of suicide by cop," Scheibler said.&nbsp;

He said initially Martinez had tried to enter the Law Enforcement Center, but was unable to gain entry.

"His intent was to come to the police department to kill a police officer," Scheibler said. "He found the door locked because of COVID-19 restrictions. That's when he decided to go down to the Community Corrections building in an effort to meet and do the same to his probation officer."

Martinez has previous convictions for theft, battery, aggravated burglary, criminal threat and drug possession, according to Kansas Department of Correction online records.

Scheibler credits the officers for resolving the situation without injuries being sustained.

"It is really a good day for the Hays Police Department," he said. "Lt. Greenwood and Detective Burkholder burst through that door and was immediately confronted — within feet — by a man armed with two knives that had deadly intent. Because of the professionalism and their training, they were able to take him into custody without anybody getting hurt."

Scheibler said he is proud for the way the officers handled the situation.

"A young man is still alive today because of Lt. Greenwood's and Detective Burkholder's dedication to their profession and their training," Scheibler said. "I'm glad it turned out the way it did."

Hays PD: Knife-wielding suspect attempting suicide by cop arrested

The Ellis County Health Department on Wednesday reported the average number of new coronavirus cases per day in the last seven days fell from 13 on Monday to nine on Wednesday.

The department also announced three additional coronavirus-related deaths, bringing the total to 34.

There were 41 new cases of COVID-19 identified in Ellis County since Monday. There are currently 246 active cases, including eight active hospitalizations of Ellis County residents, and 2,852 recovered cases.&nbsp;

As of Wednesday, there were 23 COVID-19 inpatients at HaysMed, down from 27 on Tuesday, with 18 of those active patients and five in the recovery phase.

The seven-day average of percent of positive tests jumped to 20 percent Wednesday from just more than 14 percent on Monday.

Since reporting began, there have been 3,132 cases of COVID-19 identified in Ellis County, including 34 coronavirus-related deaths.

Of the total 16,492 tests administered, 17.8 percent have returned positive for COVID-19.

Due to the Christmas holiday, a case update is not expected Friday.

NOTE:&nbsp;"New cases" reflects cases reported by the Ellis County Health Department between regular reporting periods of Monday, Wednesday and Friday. Per-day virus rate falls in Ellis Co.; three additional deaths reported

The National Weather Service's high wind warning will last until 6 p.m. Wednesday.

Northwest winds are steady at 30 to 40 mph, with gusts up to 65 mph possible.

Tree and power line damage is possible, with areas of blowing dust hindering travel. The winds are especially treacherous for high-profile vehicles.

Winds are expected to subside somewhat Wednesday evening, although north-northwest winds of up to 36 mph are also expected Thursday before calming Thursday evening.

The overnight low in Ellis County is also expected to dip to 18 degrees, with a high of 40 expected on Christmas Eve.

High wind warning will last throughout the day Wednesday

<a href="https://hayspost.com/posts/5dd5a2d2897d147ad4bb1270">A little over a year ago, Sunrise AgriBusiness Solutions
opened in Hays</a>. Even in that short amount of time, Travis Brunner, owner and
president, along with his wife, Laura, have decided to give back some of their success
with “Grain that Gives” — a program that will see a penny from each bushel sold
to the business given to the Salvation Army through the month of December.

“A penny a bushel doesn’t sound like that much,” Brunner
said. “But we have already done like 800,000 bushels.”

With another contribution from another area feedlot company
that buys grain from the company, he said the total is already substantial.

“So he has already donated something close to $2,000. So
right now, we are over $10,000 because of the match," Brunner said.

And rather than send donated funds to a single location,
Brunner will spread it out across their coverage area, based on the purchase
location.

“Wherever the grain is purchased from, that’s where we
partner with the Salvation Army,” he said.

Brunner is also hopeful others will sign up to drive the total
even higher. Some have already done so.

Once local farmers heard about the program, and since they
would not be buying grain, they have donated directly to the program, he said.

Even as the donation amount continues to grow through the
end of the month, the company has also dedicated donations of food and toys for
those in need.

The Ellis County Salvation Army will be receiving around 60
baskets of food, Brunner said.

“It’s a fun way, and it’s a good thing to give back,” he
said. “We felt this was a way to give back.” 

Being able to give back to the communities they serve was a
large part of his goal when he launched the business last August.

“When I went out on my own and started Sunrise AgriBusiness
Solutions a little over a year and half ago, we wanted to be a financial benefactor,”
he said. “I wanted to give back to the communities that help enrich our lives.”

Brunner said his family has been extremely fortunate with the business and so has
also been able to give money back to the Arc — for the ARC Park — and some
different families in town, he said.

As the Brunners were searching for ways to give back, they
looked at the rural communities that are often overlooked by large charitable
organizations and developed the idea of the program that assists those rural
areas often overlooked — and found the
Salvation Army was the best partner to use the donations. 

“I felt a connection with Salvation Army,” he said.

Along with the monetary donations, the company also has
donated needed items along with toys to area children.

“It’s something that we felt we needed to do and we wanted
to commit to that original commitment to ourselves that if we are fortunate and

opened in Hays</a>. Even in that short amount of time, Travis Brunner, owner and
president, along with his wife, Laura, have decided to give back some of their success
with “Grain that Gives” — a program that will see a penny from each bushel sold
to the business given to the Salvation Army through the month of December.“A penny a bushel doesn’t sound like that much,” Brunner
said. “But we have already done like 800,000 bushels.”With another contribution from another area feedlot company
that buys grain from the company, he said the total is already substantial.“So he has already donated something close to $2,000. So
right now, we are over $10,000 because of the match," Brunner said.<figure>

Brunner will spread it out across their coverage area, based on the purchase
location.“Wherever the grain is purchased from, that’s where we
partner with the Salvation Army,” he said.Brunner is also hopeful others will sign up to drive the total
even higher. Some have already done so.Once local farmers heard about the program, and since they
would not be buying grain, they have donated directly to the program, he said.Even as the donation amount continues to grow through the
end of the month, the company has also dedicated donations of food and toys for
those in need.The Ellis County Salvation Army will be receiving around 60
baskets of food, Brunner said.“It’s a fun way, and it’s a good thing to give back,” he
said. “We felt this was a way to give back.” Being able to give back to the communities they serve was a
large part of his goal when he launched the business last August.“When I went out on my own and started Sunrise AgriBusiness
Solutions a little over a year and half ago, we wanted to be a financial benefactor,”
he said. “I wanted to give back to the communities that help enrich our lives.”Brunner said his family has been extremely fortunate with the business and so has
also been able to give money back to the Arc — for the ARC Park — and some
different families in town, he said.As the Brunners were searching for ways to give back, they
looked at the rural communities that are often overlooked by large charitable
organizations and developed the idea of the program that assists those rural
areas often overlooked — and found the
Salvation Army was the best partner to use the donations. “I felt a connection with Salvation Army,” he said.Along with the monetary donations, the company also has
donated needed items along with toys to area children.“It’s something that we felt we needed to do and we wanted

Sunrise AgriBusiness Solutions gives back with 'Grain that Gives' program

While the 
COVID-19 pandemic has put a halt to in-person concerts, one local band 
is channeling its energies into creating new music, much to the delight 
of its growing fanbase in Europe, Australia, and the United States.

On Friday, the Sunset Sinners released another song, Way To Go, which drummer Blake Blackim describes as "a cool up-tempo country hitkicker."

"The catch-22 with the COVID crisis is that we had a lot of live 
shows canceled. The flip side is it gave us time to write and record a 
lot of new music. We will now have a full album out late this spring or 
early summer" Blackim said.

The band's first single and music video, Always Time For One More Beer,
 has garnered a great deal of attention throughout the Midwest, Texas 
and Deep South, as well as in France, the Czech Republic, and other 
parts of Europe, Blackim noted. The video now has approximately 500,000 
views and that number keeps growing.

"We
 really write realistic songs about real life, events, and people, which
 I think people can relate to," Blackim explained. "We are also all 
about honoring military, veterans, first responders, and folks in the 
healthcare industry. We are super excited about an upcoming release of a
 new song called Old Glory that’s a patriotic ballad that’s about
 honoring the flag and the folks that made the sacrifice to sign up for 
any form of military service. The song has been recorded and music video
 footage shot. We’re just trying to figure out the best time to 
release."

The Sunset Sinners also recently released another music video for its song Friday Night,
 a song that was written by two heavy hitter Nashville songwriters from 
Anthem Entertainment/Publishing: Randy Montana, who wrote Luke Combs' Beer Never Broke My Heart, and Blake Chaffin — also from Hays — who has written for Brantley Gilbert, Logan Mize and Rodney Atkins.

Blackim said that Always Time For One More Beer, Friday Night, Way To Go, and another recent Sinner single, Hell To Pay, are in rotation on more than 150 stations in France and other parts of Europe.

The
 airtime is paying off as fans from Europe are reaching out to the band.
 Blackim said he recently sent some autographed photos to fans in 
France.

"We are very accessible and with social media, it’s easy to contact us," Blackim said.

"Honestly,
 they love us," he continued. "From what I can tell, they just like 
straight up rock 'n' roll and southern rock. We created our own genre, 
whiskey barrel rock, which is basically a fusion of southern and classic
 '70s rock with some red dirt country, so it seems to fit in well. I 
also think its music everyone can relate to as the Beer song is basically an anthem that seems to strike a chord. I also feel that they like discovering new music/bands from the U.S."

Additionally, fans from afar can get Sinner swag, including hats and t-shirts, from the band's website, <a href="http://whiskeybarrelrock.com">whiskeybarrelrock.com</a>.

So how does a band located in the middle of the United States build a fanbase in Europe? 

"In our case, a Nashville radio promo company reached out to us as they really liked Always Time For One More Beer
 and thought it could do really well and be picked up by stations in the
 U.S. and internationally," Blackim said. "As luck would have it, I had a
 radio producer and DJ from France, Johnny Da Piedade, reach out and 
really loved our music, videos, and vibe."

Da Piedade's programs, Big Country Cactus and BCC Rocks, go out to 
stations all over France and in other parts of Europe, Blackim 
explained.

"The real cool part about this is that they also have a
 show that features select USA bands with their music and music videos. 
It’s called Les News De Nashville hosted by Allison," Blackim said. 
"It’s a really cool show that is basically letting folks over there know
 what new music and bands are coming out of Nashville and the USA. The 
Sunset Sinners are being featured this week."

In addition to having their music played in Europe, the Sunset 
Sinners also are receiving quite a bit of airplay in Australia, as well 
as some in the United States.

"There’s a station now in Nebraska 
that currently has three Sinner songs in rotation. It’s a bit harder to 
get U.S. airplay unless signed to a major label as everyone is basically
 fighting for position," Blackim said.

Of course, there also are online options for listening to the Sunset Sinners.

"All
 of our music is available on all streaming services: Spotify, Apple 
Music, Pandora, etc. We have a distribution company that distributes all
 of our music to all streaming services. We also have our own YouTube 
channel that features all of our videos and promos. We have some pretty 
comical YouTube promo videos that we did for Miller Lite," Blackim 
explained.

While radio and online play provides fans with 
listening options, a number of them continue to ask when the next 
in-person concert will happen.

"We get asked a lot when the next 
show is. We have a full live schedule with some really cool festivals 
and concerts starting June 1. I do not see too much for live shows 
happening before then and I hope this summer gets back to some 
normalcy," Blackim said.

This past year has been a hard one. Though we are close to the renewed hopes of a new year, we still face what could be the hardest days of 2020 for some.

No matter what you are celebrating this season — Christmas, Hanukah, Kwanza, Festivus – most plans have likely been altered. Some people have been lucky to experience only minor inconveniences or shifts, while others are facing a total breakdown of holiday celebrations and family traditions.

My heart goes out to people who are struggling with this change. I was once just like you.

When I was 12 years old, my oldest brother enlisted in the Navy and left for basic training near Chicago just before Thanksgiving. Since the base was only a five-hour drive from home, our family was able to participate in a Christmas Adopt-a-Sailor program to spend the day with him.  

Looking back, I had a lot of pre-teen anxiety about the effects this had on our holiday celebration and family traditions. It was the first time we ever changed our family routine, and I was convinced the changes were going to ruin Christmas. We had to shorten our visits with extended family on Christmas Eve so we could get a few hours of sleep before our 3 a.m. departure. We would not be opening presents around the tree on Christmas morning. It all just felt wrong.

Our Christmas in downtown Chicago ended up being a great adventure. The city was like a ghost town. The only restaurant open was a two-story McDonald’s, and my siblings and I were so proud to rack up a $30 total, which makes me laugh now as it would be a bargain for a family of six today. We visited an equally deserted Navy Pier where our entertainment became exploring a water gunboat and chatting with the on-duty firefighters staffing it. We ended the day watching the latest James Bond movie at the theater since it was the only thing we could find open.  

This odd and presumably ruined holiday ended up being one of our most memorable Christmases. The highlights of the day were not presents, which I cannot even remember if we exchanged, or cool experiences. The greatness of the day came from the spoiled plans, laughter and shared experience of making memories together.

We didn’t know it at the time, but this was the last Christmas we spent together as a family. Ten months later, my middle bother died in a car accident; my oldest brother was away from home for six years in the Navy; and my sister and I became adults with our own careers and families to work around for the holidays.

I will not pretend that my family’s Chicago Christmas was magical, tradition worthy or even worth repeating. However, I am grateful for the time it gave us together and the way it mentally prepared me for the hard lesson of life’s changes.

If you are anxious about how the holidays will turn out for your family and friends, I can share from experience that a break from tradition isn’t the worst thing that can happen. Even if you are sad, mad or disappointed about the circumstances, you can still make memories and celebrate with loved ones. It will give you something to talk about in future years when you are enjoying your holiday celebrations and family traditions.

Though we are close to the renewed hopes of a new year, we still face what could be the hardest days of 2020 for some.No matter what you are celebrating this season — Christmas, Hanukah, Kwanza, Festivus – most plans have likely been altered. Some people have been lucky to experience only minor inconveniences or shifts, while others are facing a total breakdown of holiday celebrations and family traditions.My heart goes out to people who are struggling with this change. I was once just like you.When I was 12 years old, my oldest brother enlisted in the Navy and left for basic training near Chicago just before Thanksgiving. Since the base was only a five-hour drive from home, our family was able to participate in a Christmas Adopt-a-Sailor program to spend the day with him. Looking back, I had a lot of pre-teen anxiety about the effects this had on our holiday celebration and family traditions. It was the first time we ever changed our family routine, and I was convinced the changes were going to ruin Christmas. We had to shorten our visits with extended family on Christmas Eve so we could get a few hours of sleep before our 3 a.m. departure. We would not be opening presents around the tree on Christmas morning. It all just felt wrong.Our Christmas in downtown Chicago ended up being a great adventure. The city was like a ghost town. The only restaurant open was a two-story McDonald’s, and my siblings and I were so proud to rack up a $30 total, which makes me laugh now as it would be a bargain for a family of six today. We visited an equally deserted Navy Pier where our entertainment became exploring a water gunboat and chatting with the on-duty firefighters staffing it. City offices closed Thursday, Friday for Christmas

The Ellis County Health Department was scheduled to receive its first batch of the Moderna COVID-19 vaccine Tuesday morning.

The vaccine will be distributed under the CDC's Phase 1a protocols, which includes health care workers.

Jason Kennedy, Ellis County health officer, told county commissioners Monday night the vaccine would be made available to county health department workers, EMS staff and staff at First Care Clinic, which is a federally qualified health center.

The county will receive enough vaccine for the county health department and EMS staff who have requested the vaccine. The county has also reached out to other community health clinics about vaccinating their staffs.

Kennedy noted although the vaccine with be offered to county health care staff, as an employer, he will not require any staff members to be vaccinated.

HaysMed also received its first allotment of vaccine for its staff this week.&nbsp;

Under the CDC's plan, long-term care facility residents will also be a part of the first phase of vaccinations.

Six percent of the U.S. cases have been among long-term care facility residents, but they have accounted for 40 percent of the deaths, according to the CDC. That accounts for almost a half a million cases and 69,000 deaths as of Nov. 15.

A majority of the COVID-associated hospitalization among patients older than 75 were also admitted from long-term care facilities.

Kennedy said the county will not receive enough doses this week to fully implement Phase 1a of the CDC's vaccination plan and will probably remain short of the quantity needed to complete the phase for some time.

Vaccinations of long-term care residents will be handled through private pharmacies under federal contracts.

Phase 1b of the CDC plan will include essential workers, such as teachers, utility staff, police, fire, corrections staff, transportation staff, and food and agriculture workers.

Phase 1c will include adults at high risk and adults 65 years old or older.

Kennedy said Ellis County hit its virus peak on Nov. 23. At that time, the county was averaging 45 new cases per day, 15 Ellis County residents were hospitalized and the county's positivity rate was 45 percent.

As of Monday, the county was averaging 13 cases per day, 10 residents hospitalized and the county's positivity rate was 14 percent.

The city's wastewater testing is also showing improvement in terms of COVID indicators.

At the county's peak, it was testing about 160 people per day, but the county is now averaging about 5o tests per day. 

Although fewer residents are being tested, Kennedy said you also have to look at other numbers, such as the positivity rate, which has also decreased, to determine the prevalence of the illness in the community.

Testing is still being offered at a mobile site in the Big Creek Crossing parking lot. Kennedy said he did not know if that will continue after the first of the year. He said it will depend on if the federally government continues to fund the testing into the new year.

"Things are improving in Ellis County, and the vaccine is finally here," Kennedy said.

Although Kennedy said for the first time he can say an end is in sight for the pandemic, residents still need to be vigilant.

"We need people to make good decisions, good personal choices, follow the best public health measures until we can get widespread vaccination," he said.

Kennedy noted the community has been very supportive of him while community health officers in other counties have left their jobs because of negative pressure from their communities.&nbsp;

"That will be the deciding factor of how we get through the back side of this — is how we support each other and how we work together," Kennedy said. "We are still in the tunnel. Make no mistake. 

"Things are improving. We are finally at a point where we can see light. There is something we are marching toward right now. Continue to make good choices and protect yourself and your loved ones."

• Accepted a donation from Buckeye Wind Energy. The donation will be used to purchase bags for new self-contained breathing apparatus for county fire. The commission approved the purchase of the new masks last week.

• Approved a purchase of a diesel-fired hotbox at a cost of $23,915. The device is used to heat asphalt that is used in fixing potholes.

• Approved the purchase of a new motor grader at a cost of $255,363 with trade in.

• Approved the hiring of two truck drivers for the public works department.

Kennedy: Light at end of tunnel; vaccine comes to Hays

Kat's Hallmark donated 20 purses on Friday to the Wonder Women League, which in turn donated them to Options Domestic and Sexual Violence Services to be given to women at its shelter.

The purses will be part of welcome bags given to women who enter the shelter, said Jennifer Hecker, Options executive director.

Inside each bag is a note saying, "The Wonder Women League and Kat's Hallmark is wishing you a bright future."

"If that small gift takes a woman and gives her the courage to take that step — that strength to get to the next step for a brighter future — that's really what we want to accomplish," said Mary Karst, member of the WWL executive board.

Kathy Schupman, owner of Kat's&nbsp;Hallmark,&nbsp; said Hallmark corporate has been a very giving business during its history.&nbsp;

"I can't think of a better way to have a Mark and Hall purse placed in the community than through an avenue such as this," she said. "Hopefully, these women will feel loved and supported, and this will give them a little umph because we all need it."

The presentation was made during a Hays Chamber Chat on Friday at the Options Hays office. The Hays Chamber has made a big push this year to encourage people to shop local.

"Shopping local is what makes this kind of thing able to happen,"&nbsp;Schupman said, "so it is very important. We do appreciate that. We are all one community."

The Wonder Women League is under the umbrella of the United Way of Ellis County. WWL&nbsp;is comprised of women donating to the league above and beyond their annual United Way contribution.  WWL donations are used for the health and betterment of children, family, community and neighborhood.&nbsp;&nbsp;

WWL's continuing projects include&nbsp;<a href="https://archive.hayspost.com/2019/02/27/matthews-gift-offers-necessities-to-families-during-medical-emergencies/">Matthew's Gift</a>, which is a project that gives care packages to people who have loved ones who are transferred out of HaysMed for critical care, and&nbsp;<a href="https://hayspost.com/posts/3bfc530b-e655-426c-8149-72828ad5f50c">Project Suitcase</a>, which gives bags with pajamas, small toys and hygiene items to children who are being placed in foster care.

Kat's Hallmark, WWL donate purses to Options' shelter

THOMAS COUNTY —Two people were injured in an accident just before 12:30p.m. Tuesday in Thomas County.

The Kansas Highway Patrol reported a 2008 Chevy Impala driven by Jessica&nbsp;Martinez De Alvarez, 40, Atwood, was northbound on Kansas 25 eight miles north of Colby.

The driver attempted to brake and the Chevy entered the east ditch and came to a rest facing northwest.EMS transported&nbsp;Martinez De Alvarez and a passenger Ashley Suzzuta&nbsp;Saenz, 18, Atwood, to Citizen's Medical Center. Both were properly restrained at the time of the accident, according to the KHP.
