Rooks Co. teen standing near disabled SUV killed in crash

ROOKS COUNTY —A Kansas teen died in an accident just after 9:30p.m. Wednesday in Rooks County.

The Kansas Highway Patrol reported a 2010 Chevy Silverado driven by Zebulun Thomas Cole, 20, Stockton, was westbound on Kansas 18 at 14 Road three miles west of Plainville. 

The pickup struck a 1997 GMC Jimmy that was disabled on the shoulder of the road. 

Carole Leanne Adamson, 16, Plainville, was standing outside of the Jimmy at the time of the collision and was pronounced dead at the scene. She was transported to Brock's North Hill Chapel.

The crash pushed the Jimmy into a 2002 Dodge Ram.  Maranda Payton-Louise Kuhl, 21, Sibley, Iowa, was standing outside of the Dodge. EMS transported her to Hays Medical Center and transported Cole to the hospital in Plainville.  He was wearing a seat belt, according to the KHP.
