MANHATTAN— Manhattan residents may have noticed a purple haze of light when walking about town after dark, and while they may fit the Purple Pride theme, according to the City of Manhattan it's actually a manufacturing defect.
In a Facebook post, the City of Manhattan says that several other cities in the state have also experienced the error, and some cities, like Lawrence, may not enjoy the color as much.
"It's happening across Kansas in other cities, including Wichita, Topeka, Lawrence, Junction City and Marysville. Evergy has identified almost 6,000 defective LED lights across the state, and the manufacturer of the bulb is taking full responsibility to replace them all," the post reads.
According to the City of Manhattan, Evergy will swap out the violet bulbs over the next 4-6 months, so Cat fans should enjoy the color while it lasts.
