The Downtown Hays Market has an extra reason to celebrate this week's 2024 National Farmers Market Week.
Market manager Ben Dome learned Monday that the local market has been voted the No. 1 market in Kansas for the second consecutive year through America's Farmers Market Celebration-American Farmland Trust/Farmers Market Coalition.
"We just want to say a big thanks to our vendors and our Saturday morning shoppers," said Julie Rider, Downtown Hays Development Corporation executive director.
Dome is making special social media posts this week to celebrate the market's recognition, and there will be market merchandise giveaways this Saturday.
Mayor Shaun Musil will sign a proclamation Thursday afternoon observing Farmers Market Week.
The Downtown Hays Market is open 7:30 to 11 Saturday mornings through Oct. 19 in the downtown pavilion.
Be sure to follow the market page this week as they celebrate and promote the Downtown Hays Market.
