Mechanic Position:
- Pay: Typical base starting pay between $21.20-$22.06 per hour, depending on qualifications and experience. Opportunity for pay increase upon successful completion of 6-month introductory period. Twice yearly opportunities for pay increases!
- Schedule: Warm schedule 7a-5:30p Monday-Thursday; Cold schedule 7a-3:30p Monday-Friday.
- Requirements: High school diploma or equivalent, valid Class B commercial driver’s license with tanker endorsement, two years of mechanic experience (preferred but not required)
Join our team as a Mechanic and utilize your skills to maintain and repair our fleet of vehicles and equipment. Your role will be crucial in ensuring our machinery operates at peak performance. We are looking for individuals who are dedicated problem solvers with a passion for mechanics and a keen eye for detail.
Heavy Equipment Operator (in the Solid Waste department):
- Pay: Typical base starting pay between $19.20-$19.98 per hour, depending on qualifications and experience. Opportunity for pay increase upon successful completion of 6-month introductory period. Twice yearly opportunities for pay increases!
- Schedule: 40 hours per week on a two-week rotation schedule is as follows: Week #1: Monday-Thursday (8a-5p) + Friday (8a-12p); Week #2: Tuesday-Thursday (8a-4p), Friday (8a-5p), and Saturday (9a-4p). This allows for 3.5-day weekends every other week.
- Requirements: High school diploma or equivalent, valid Class B commercial driver’s license with tanker endorsement, 24-hour household hazardous waste certification within six months of hire date.
As a Heavy Equipment Operator at Ellis County Solid Waste, you will be instrumental in operating various heavy machinery essential to our operations. In addition, we are looking for a full-time EMS Training Director (Paramedic) that is instrumental in our Emergency Medical Services department or a full-time Weed Control Technician with our Noxious Weed division. If you are called to serve in a different type of environment, we are also looking to add to our paid-per-call Firefighter team. This is on an as-needed basis and no prior experience is required, as detailed training is provided.
