Les Miles is out as Kansas’ head coach just days after he was placed on administrative leave amid sexual misconduct allegations from his tenure at LSU.

Kansas announced Miles’ departure Monday night, describing it as a mutual agreement to part ways. Miles has three years left on his original five-year contract with the school that pays him $2.775 million annually through December 2023 and includes several bonuses, among them a $675,000 retention bonus paid last November.

“I am extremely disappointed for our university, fans and everyone involved with our football program,” Kansas athletic director Jeff Long said in a statement. “We will begin the search for a new head coach immediately with an outside firm to assist in this process. We need to win football games, and that is exactly what we’re going to do.”

The 67-year-old Miles was 3-18 in two seasons with the Jayhawks. Offensive coordinator Mike DeBord was named acting head coach.

“This is certainly a difficult day for me and for my family,” Miles said in a statement. “I love this university and the young men in our football program. I have truly enjoyed being the head coach at KU and know that it is in a better place now than when I arrived.”

Last week, LSU released a 148-page review by a law firm about the university’s handling of sexual misconduct complaints campus-wide. One part described how Miles “tried to sexualize the staff of student workers in the football program by, for instance, allegedly demanding that he wanted blondes with big breasts, and ‘pretty girls.’”

The report also revealed then-LSU athletic director Joe Alleva recommended firing Miles in 2013 to university officials.

Kansas placed Miles on leave later that day and said it would conduct a review of allegations against the coach that it had previously been unaware of.

Kansas said terms of the agreement with Miles on his departure will be released in the coming days.

Miles spent 11-plus seasons with LSU, leading the school to a national title in 2007. He was fired four games into the 2016 season.

Miles was investigated at LSU after two female student workers in the football program accused the coach of inappropriate behavior in 2012.

While that 2013 investigation by the Taylor Porter law firm found Miles showed poor judgment, it did not find violations of law or that he had a sexual relationship with any students. Taylor Porter also concluded it could not confirm one student’s allegation that Miles kissed her while they were in the coach’s car with no one else present.

In an email dated June 2013 and sent to the president of LSU, Alleva wrote Miles was guilty of “insubordination, inappropriate behavior, putting the university, athletic (department) and football program at great risk.”

The Taylor Porter review had been kept confidential for about eight years until a redacted version of it was released this week after a lawsuit filed by USA Today.

For Kansas, Miles’ departure is just the latest setback for what has been college football’s worst Power Five program for a decade. The Jayhawks have not won more than three games in a single season since 2009.

Miles had been out of coaching for two years when Long hired him after the 2018 season, hoping a notable name and experienced coach could help break the apathy that has enveloped the Kansas program for a decade.

Long and Miles were friends dating to their time at Michigan in the late 1980s.

While recruiting has improved under Miles, little else has changed. The Jayhawks were winless last season for the third time in program history, losing by an average of more than 30 points per game.

Miles out at KU over behavior with women while at LSU

IRVING, Texas&nbsp;–&nbsp;Highlighted by the 2021 Big 12 Most Improved Player David McCormack, Kansas was well represented on the men’s basketball 2020-21 All-Big 12 Team selected by the conference coaches, the league announced Monday. McCormack also earned All-Big 12 Second Team honors, along with senior Marcus Garrett. KU’s Ochai Agbaji and Christian Braun were honorable mention all-league selections. Garrett was a unanimous selection for the Big 12 All-Defensive Team, while redshirt-freshman Jalen Wilson was named to the Big 12 All-Newcomer and Big 12 All-Freshman teams. Wilson was a unanimous choice of the league coaches for the all-freshman squad. Coaches were not allowed to vote for their own student-athletes. After averaging 6.9 points and 4.1 rebounds in 18 starts last year, McCormack has improved his numbers to 13.1 points and 6.1 rebounds this season while starting all 27 games for the Jayhawks. The Norfolk, Virginia, junior’s 53.6 field goal percentage in league games led the conference, while he is second in all games with a 51.1 field goal percentage. McCormack ranks third in the Big 12 with six double-doubles and has 17 games with double digit scoring, including 11 of the last 12. This is the second year of the Big 12 Most Improved Player award. Garrett is on the Big 12 All-Defensive Team for the third consecutive season and an all-league selection for the second-straight year. The Dallas guard is fifth in the Big 12 in steals at 1.6, sixth in assist-to-turnover ratio (1.79) and 11th in assists (3.7). Garrett has 16 steals in his last seven games and averages 10.2 points and 4.4 rebounds per outing. On Feb. 25, he was named one of 10 to the Naismith Defensive Player of the Year semifinalists, an honor he won in 2020. Agbaji is an All-Big 12 Honorable Mention selection for the second-straight season. The Kansas City, Missouri, junior guard is second the Big 12 in 3-point field goals made 2.6 and is second in 3-point field goal percentage at 38.3%. He drained five three pointers at Texas (2/23) and has made three or more threes in two of his last three games and 14 times this season. Agbaji’s 13.7 scoring average is 13th in the conference. Braun is an All-Big 12 selection for the first time this season and was a member of the 2020 Big 12 All-Freshman Team. The Burlington, Kansas, sophomore guard is second on the team with 33 steals and second on the squad with 49 3-pointers made. Braun averages 10.1 points and 5.3 rebounds per outing and is 13th in the Big 12 in three-point field goals made at 1.8. Wilson has posted six double-doubles in his last nine games, including a KU freshman record four consecutive. The Denton, Texas, forward leads Kansas in rebounds and his 8.2 boards per game are second in the Big 12 and tops among league freshmen. Wilson averages 12.2 ppg and has made 39 3-pointers. His nine double-doubles this season second in the league. In the history of the Big 12, Kansas leads the Big 12 with an all-time high 133 student-athletes named to All-Big 12 Teams. Texas is second with 106, while Baylor is third with 93 selections. Kansas (19-8, 12-6) will be the No. 2 Seed for the 2021 Big 12 Championship, March 10-13, at the T-Mobile Center in Kansas City, Missouri. KU will play the winner of No. 7 Oklahoma and No. 10 Iowa State in the quarterfinals on Thursday, March 11, at 5:30 p.m. (Central). Oklahoma and Iowa State will play Wednesday, March 10, at 8:30 p.m. Kansas has won 15 postseason tournament titles, including 11 in the Big 12 era, which began in 1996-97. IRVING, Texas&nbsp;–&nbsp;Highlighted by the 2021 Big 12 Most Improved Player David McCormack, Kansas was well represented on the men’s basketball 2020-21 All-Big 12 Team selected by the conference coaches, the league announced Monday. McCormack also earned All-Big 12 Second Team honors, along with senior Marcus Garrett. KU’s Ochai Agbaji and Christian Braun were honorable mention all-league selections. Garrett was a unanimous selection for the Big 12 All-Defensive Team, while redshirt-freshman Jalen Wilson was named to the Big 12 All-Newcomer and Big 12 All-Freshman teams. Wilson was a unanimous choice of the league coaches for the all-freshman squad. Coaches were not allowed to vote for their own student-athletes. After averaging 6.9 points and 4.1 rebounds in 18 starts last year, McCormack has improved his numbers to 13.1 points and 6.1 rebounds this season while starting all 27 games for the Jayhawks. The Norfolk, Virginia, junior’s 53.6 field goal percentage in league games led the conference, while he is second in all games with a 51.1 field goal percentage. McCormack ranks third in the Big 12 with six double-doubles and has 17 games with double digit scoring, including 11 of the last 12. This is the second year of the Big 12 Most Improved Player award. Garrett is on the Big 12 All-Defensive Team for the third consecutive season and an all-league selection for the second-straight year. The Dallas guard is fifth in the Big 12 in steals at 1.6, sixth in assist-to-turnover ratio (1.79) and 11th in assists (3.7). Garrett has 16 steals in his last seven games and averages 10.2 points and 4.4 rebounds per outing. On Feb. 25, he was named one of 10 to the Naismith Defensive Player of the Year semifinalists, an honor he won in 2020. Agbaji is an All-Big 12 Honorable Mention selection for the second-straight season. The Kansas City, Missouri, junior guard is second the Big 12 in 3-point field goals made 2.6 and is second in 3-point field goal percentage at 38.3%. He drained five three pointers at Texas (2/23) and has made three or more threes in two of his last three games and 14 times this season. Agbaji’s 13.7 scoring average is 13th in the conference. Braun is an All-Big 12 selection for the first time this season and was a member of the 2020 Big 12 All-Freshman Team. The Burlington, Kansas, sophomore guard is second on the team with 33 steals and second on the squad with 49 3-pointers made. Braun averages 10.1 points and 5.3 rebounds per outing and is 13th in the Big 12 in three-point field goals made at 1.8. Wilson has posted six double-doubles in his last nine games, including a KU freshman record four consecutive. The Denton, Texas, forward leads Kansas in rebounds and his 8.2 boards per game are second in the Big 12 and tops among league freshmen. Wilson averages 12.2 ppg and has made 39 3-pointers. His nine double-doubles this season second in the league. In the history of the Big 12, Kansas leads the Big 12 with an all-time high 133 student-athletes named to All-Big 12 Teams. Texas is second with 106, while Baylor is third with 93 selections. The doubleheader with Lincoln in Jefferson City will now be on Friday, March 19 starting at 1 pm, and the doubleheader with Central Missouri in Warrensburg will be on Tuesday, April 13 starting at 1 pm. The Tigers have a pair of non-conference games that were added after the start of the season that they will play next week on Tuesday (Mar. 16) at 1 and 3 pm in Shawnee, Oklahoma. Fort Hays State is one of three teams from the Central Region ranked in the top 10 of this week's poll, more than any other region. Five of the teams playing in the Central Region Championships are either in the top 25 or receiving votes, tied for the most from any region (Southeast, four in top 25, one receiving votes). 🏀 FHSU women top seed in NCAA II Central Regional

HAYS - The fifth-ranked Fort Hays State women couldn't dig out of an early double-digit deficit and lost 57-51 to No. 14 Nebraska-Kearney in the MIAA Tournament title game Sunday on front of 1,275 fans at Gross Coliseum.&nbsp;

The loss end the Tigers (22-3) 16-game win streak and drops the Tigers to 1-3 in MIAA Tournanment title games. It's the Lopers (22-3) first MIAA Tournament title in their first trip to the finals and their first conference tournament title since 2008 (RMAC).

It took over five and-a-half minutes for the Tigers to hit their first field goal as they fell behind 13-1. The Lopers extended their lead to 16 in the second quarter. The Tigers used a 7-0 run to pull within nine but Haley Simental hit an elbow jumper to push UNK's lead to 29-18 at the half.

A Whitney Randall basketball pulled the Tigers within six with 6:30 to play in the third but UNK answered with an 11-4 run to build the lead to 13 and they would lead by 12 after three quarters.

FHSU opened the fourth on a 12-4 run, the last five coming from Jaden Hobbs whose only 3-pointer of the game pullsed the Tigers within four at 47-43. The Tigers would get as close as three on three occassions d0own the stretch following a couple of baskets from Katie Wagner and Jessie Sallach.

The Tigers had a chance to pull within one after a steal but Hobbs was called for a double-dribble then Ellisa Backes hit a three to push UNK's lead to six.

The Tigers were one of four teams to receive a first-place vote. It is the ninth-straight year the Tigers have been listed in the top five of the preseason poll. Emporia State tops the poll, followed by Nebraska-Kearney and defending champion Central Missouri. Opening the Year Right - The Tigers have won their last 17 season openers, the longest such streak in program history. FHSU is 35-17 in season openers in program history. - Fort Hays State has also won its last 17 home openers, with the last loss coming at the start of the 2003-04 season (70-88 vs. Southwestern College). The Tigers are 25-4 in home openers since joining the NCAA Division II in 1992-93. Mark Your Calendars - Notes on the 2020-21 Schedule -With NCAA Division II's reduction to a maximum of 22 games for the 2020-21 season, the Tigers are scheduled to play an all-conference schedule this year. FHSU will play nine schools home-and-away and four schools just once (WU, ESU at home, PSU, MSSU on the road). Don't ask us why they only play three in-state schools once; we don't make the schedule, we just publicize it. -Fort Hays State played just five regular season games during the 2020 portion of the season and 17 contests after the new year. The win over Rogers State was the first time FHSU scored 100 points against a Division II opponent since 2013 (114-86 vs Newman, 1/26/13). 13 of those 100-point performances, more than half, have come under Hobson. All-Time Winningest Head Coach <a href="https://fhsuathletics.com/coaches.aspx?rc=947">Tony Hobson</a>&nbsp;won his 218th career victory at Fort Hays State University on January 5, 2019 against Southwest Baptist, giving him the most head coaching wins in program history. Sharp Shooting Leads to Victory The Tigers are 111-4 under coach Hobson when shooting 45 percent or better from the floor. Overtime Specialists The Tigers have won nine consecutive overtime contests, dating back to the final game of the 2012-13 season (3/9/13 vs UCM in KC). Filling the Seats Fort Hays State is leading the country with an average attendance of 740 per home game this season.&nbsp; The Tigers also led the MIAA in attendance last season, doing so for the seventh year in a row. The Tigers averaged 2,296 fans per home game, more than 800 more than second place (Emporia State, 1,442 per game). FHSU also ranked second nationally in attendance once again in 2019-20, doing so for the sixth year in a row. FHSU has finished in the top four nationally each of the last eight seasons and has been in the top 10 for 11-straight years. Fort Hays State had a higher average attendance than 82 percent of NCAA Division I programs, including regional schools like Kansas, Wichita State, Oklahoma and Oklahoma State. The Tigers would rank 62nd out of the 348 DI programs sponsoring women's basketball in 2019-20.&nbsp;&nbsp;

🏀📻 No. 5 Tiger women host No. 14 Lopers in MIAA title game Sunday

The TMP-Marian Monarchs used a 12-2 run to get out to a quick start and then put together a 16-3 third quarter run to put away the Minneapolis Lions 68-51 in the 3A Norton sub-state championship game Saturday.

TMP (20-4) wasted no time Saturday in getting out to a quick start. After the game was tied at four Bryce Seib converted a three-point play and Jackson Schulte scored five in-a-row to put TMP up 12-4.

After the Lions closed within two, Gavin Unrein record his first bucket and Schulte knocked down his second three of the quarter to put TMP up 17-10 at the end of one.

A Lucas Lang three pointer in the second quarter gave TMP a 10-point lead at 26-16. But each time TMP built a double-digit lead Minneapolis was able to close the gap. TMP led 29-23 through two quarters.

TMP opened the second half on a 9-1 run capped off by a Lang three-point play to put TMP up 38-24. The Monarchs followed that with an 11-2 run to take a 49-28 lead.

After sitting the entire second quarter with foul trouble, TMP's Dylan Werth scored 9 of his 17 points in the third as TMP built a 56-34 lead.

Werth added six more points in the fourth quarter as TMP maintained a 23-point lead for most of the quarter on their way to the 68-51 win.

Jackson Schulte led all scorers with 20 points for TMP. Dylan Werth added 17 points and Lucas Lang scored 15 points.

TMP will travel to Hugoton on Tuesday to take on the Eagles in the first-round of the 3A state tournament.

The TMP Lady Monarchs came up short in a hard fought battle against the Phillipsburg Panthers Saturday in the 3A Norton sub-state final 68-61.

The game was tight early with the two teams trading the lead back-and-fourth to open the game.&nbsp;

TMP (19-4) lead briefly at 3-2 following an Emilee Lane three-point play and then down 6-3 the Monarchs score four straight to take a 7-6 lead.

That would be the final time that the Monarchs would lead in the game.

Phillipsburg scored five quick points to take an 11-7 lead and they never trailed again.

TMP was able to close within one at 11-10 on a Jaci VonLintel three-pointer but the Panthers took a 16-12 lead into the second quarter.

Early in the second quarter TMP closed within three at 21-18 before Phillipsburg answered with a 9-4 run to go up 30-22.

A Kyleigh Allen layup to beat the buzzer made it 32-29 at halftime.

In the third quarter TMP trailed by as many as nine but there were able to get it to four points twice, before trailing by six at 52-46 through three quarters.

The Monarchs get it to four at 52-48 to start the quarter only to see Phillipsburg put together a 7-0 run to lead by 11.

TMP was able to close the gap back t0 four at 63-59 on a 7-0 run of their own but Phillipsburg sealed the game at the free throw line on their way to the 68-61 win.

Emilee Lane led four in double-figures for TMP with 21 points and nine rebounds.

Senior Kyleigh Allen finished with 14 points, Jaci VonLintel and Megan Hamel both added 10 points.

🏀TMP Lady Monarchs finish as sub-state runner-up

HAYS - The fifth-ranked Fort Hays State women weathered a 16-0 Emporia State third quarter run but closed the game on a 15-6 run and beat the Hornets 77-72 in the MIAA Tournament semifinals in front of 1,250 Saturday afternoon at Gross Coliseum.

The Tigers (22-2) built an eight point lead early in the third quarter on an Olivia Hollenbeck three-point play but would go scoreless over the next five minutes and fall behind 44-36 with five minutes to play. Following two timeouts, the Tigers regrouped and closed the quarter on a&nbsp; 16-8 run to tie the game 52-52 after three quarters on a Lauryn Reither three.

Jaden Hobbs hit three of her four 3-pointers in the final three and-a-half minutes of the third quarter to fuel the comeback.&nbsp;

The Hornets (17-8) led by four with five minutes to play in the fourth but Reither and Emma Ruddle both hit a pair of free throws to tie the game then Whitney Randall hit a fast break layup to put FHSU ahead for good with 3:48 to play.

Hobbs played all 40 minutes and led the Tigers with 18 points and eight assists. Madison Mittie and Katie Wagner both scored 13 and Hollenbeck 12.

Hobbs and Mittie both hit four of the Tigers 11 threes.

FHSU shot 40-percent (25-63) from the floor including 11-26 from beyond the arc. The Hornets shot 42-percent (26-62) and after going 4-of-17 from beyond the arc in the first half, hit 8-of-13 in the second half.

The Hornets went 8-for-8 from the free throw line while the Tigers knocked in 16 of their 19 foul shots.

The top-seeded Tigers advance to the MIAA Tournament finals for the fourth time in six years. They will play Nebraska-Kearney at 2:00 pm Sunday at Gross Coliseum. The third-seeded Lopers defeated Washburn 59-40 in Saturday's second semifinal to advance to their MIAA Tournament title game.

🏀 No. 5 Tiger women pull away late to beat Hornets to advance to MIAA finals

It was a state ranked showdown Saturday afternoon in Hays for a spot in the 5A State Basketball Tournament. #1 undefeated Hays High and #5 Salina South seemed to be on a collision course since the Sub-State groupings were released.

Big first and fourth quarters hoisted Hays to the 5A State Tournament for a 21st time in program history, winning 61-48 over Salina South. The Indians made eight of ten shots in the first quarter and six of nine shots in the fourth. The South Cougars made two of twelve shots in the first and four of twenty in the fourth quarter.

Hays jumped out to an 8-1 lead and led 16-7 with fifteen seconds remaining in the first quarter. South made two free throws with two second left in the first which ignited a 10-0 for the Cougars first lead at 17-16.

The score would be tied seven times and change hands on twelve occasions over the next sixteen and a half minutes. During that stretch the Cougars could never grow their lead higher than two points which they held four times in the second quarter.

The Indians lead most of the third quarter which started with eight straight Dalyn Schwarz points. Hays though didn't take advantage of a four point lead on six trips up the floor. South managed the final five points of the third for a 39-38 lead heading into the fourth quarter.

Hays and South changed ownership of the lead five times in the fourth quarter. The final exchanged occurred on a pair of TJ Nunnery free throws with 5:14 left, giving Hays a 44-43 edge. The balance of the time belonged to the Indians on a 19-5 run. A decisive 10-0 spurt put the Hays up by double figures for the first time on the afternoon 54-43 with two minutes remaining.

The Indians made 11 of 14 free throws in the fourth quarter for a 61-48 victory.

Jace Linenberger scored 20 while battling foul trouble to lead all scoring. Three more Indians scored in double figures. Dalyn Schwarz scored 15, Carson Kieffer added 12 and TJ Nunnery put in 10 points. Salina South was led by the 17 of Devon Junghans and 13 from AJ Johnson.

Hays improves to 22-0 on the season and will host Topeka West in the first round of the 5A State Tournament on Tuesday. The #6 ranked Chargers beat Topeka Seaman 55-52 and improved to 19-2 on the year. Salina South ends the year at 16-5. Their losses came to Derby, Maize twice, Campus and the Indians.

The Tigers downed Ouachita Baptist 3-0 at Soldier Field, the home turf of Rogers State University, and have now outscored opponents 7-0 on the season. Anotonio De La Torre opened the scoring for the Tigers about 20 minutes into the match. 🏀 No. 5 Tiger women host Emporia State in MIAA semifinals Saturday

The TMP-Marian Monarchs got out to a quick start and held off the Phillipsburg Panthers on their way to a 69-50 win Friday in the 3A Norton sub-state semifinals.

Lucas Lang's first of two first quarter three pointers help the Monarchs 7-0 first quarter lead.

Phillipsburg was able to close the gap to two a couple of time in the first quarter but with TMP (19-4) leading 9-7 the Monarchs closed out the quarter on a 9-2 run to lead by 10 at 18-8.

In the second quarter Phillipsburg trimmed a 10-point deficit to six to open the quarter at 22-16.&nbsp;

TMP quickly extended the lead back to 10 before Phillipsburg to it to four on a 6-0 run at 26-22.&nbsp;

Following a Jackson Schulte three-pointer TMP would lead 29-22.

The Panthers were able to close within five before the Monarchs closed out the half with a 34-26 lead.

TMP outscored Phillipsburg 8-2 and then 8-5 to start the third quarter with a 50-33 lead.

Phillipsburg got it back to 10 midway through the quarter before the Monarchs built the lead back t0 14 at 54-40. TMP led 54-42 through three quarter.

The fourth quarter belonged to TMP. They opened the quarter on a 15-4 run on their way to the 69-50 win.

Dylan Werth scored 13 of his team-high 21 points in the second half. Jackson Schulte added 15 and Lucas Lang finished with 10 points.

TMP will take on Minneapolis in the sub-state title game Saturday after they knocked off Norton 53-50.

🏀TMP boys advance to sub-state finals with win over Phillipsburg

LAWRENCE (AP)—Kansas placed coach Les Miles on administrative leave Friday night, hours after a report released by LSU revealed school officials there considered firing him in 2013 because of his behavior with female student workers.

“Even though the allegations against him occurred at LSU, we take these matters very seriously at KU,” Kansas athletic director Jeff Long said in a statement. “Now that we have access to this information, we will take the coming days to fully review the material and to see if any additional information is available. I do not want to speculate on a timeline for our review because it is imperative we do our due diligence.”

Miles is entering his third year as Kansas coach, and coming off a winless 2020 season. He was coach at LSU for 11-plus years before being fired four games into the 2016 season.

The 67-year-old Miles has denied allegations he made sexual advances toward students and has said he merely sought to serve as a mentor for students who expressed an interest in pursuing careers in sports.

Earlier in the day, LSU released a law firm’s 148-page review of how the university has handled sexual misconduct complaints.

Then-athletic director Joe Alleva’s 2013 recommendation to former LSU President F. King Alexander to fire Miles is detailed in the report by the Husch Blackwell law firm. The report offers a scathing view of the resources and attention LSU has dedicated to complaints of sexual misconduct and violence against women campus-wide.

LSU suspended executive deputy athletic director Verge Ausberry 30 days and senior associate athletic director Miriam Segar 21 days. Both are suspended without pay and ordered to undergo sexual violence training.

Miles was investigated after two female student workers in LSU’s football program accused the coach of inappropriate behavior.

Alleva recommended Miles be fired with cause. In an email dated June 2013, Alleva wrote Miles was guilty of “insubordination, inappropriate behavior, putting the university, athletic dept (cq) and football program at great risk.”

Miles was hired by LSU in 2005 and won a national title in 2007.

Interim President Tom Galligan said during an LSU Board of Supervisors meeting Friday in Baton Rouge, Louisiana, that he sought to be fair in issuing discipline. Attorney Scott Schneider, who led the Husch Blackwell review, said that while LSU does not have a monopoly on mishandling sexual misconduct cases, the university “has been very slow to develop policies and infrastructure and personnel that was really required” to ensure compliance with federal Title IX laws. Those laws deal broadly with gender equity in education and also apply to instances of sexual violence or harassment at educational institutions.

Schneider found that LSU leadership “responded in a lackluster fashion” when officials who handled Title IX compliance requested more resources.

“The university’s Title IX office was never staffed appropriately,” he said. “We’re not the first people to note that and flag this issue to the leadership of the university. It has been repeatedly addressed to the leadership of the university and seemingly nothing has been done to remedy it up until this point.”

The report said allegations against LSU athletes were treated no differently than those against non-athletes. However, Schneider noted that star athletes tend to have inherent leverage over victims at schools where athletics are highly valued.

Victims are “understandably reluctant to participate in the Title IX process because they fear community backlash,” Schneider said.

Galligan offered public apologies to victims and said he intends to act on all 18 recommendations in the report on how to strengthen how the university handles sexual misconduct complaints campus-wide. Those recommendations called for everything from clarification of policies and protocols to increases in staffing and departmental reorganizations.“

“You don’t want the coaches involved,” Schneider said. “What we want is athletics to be out of it entirely and allow the Title IX office to do its investigation.”
