KANSAS CITY, Mo. (AP) — The Kansas City Chiefs acquired New York Giants wide receiver Kadarius Toney on Thursday for a pair of picks in next year's draft, a person familiar with the terms of the trade told The Associated Press.

The person, who spoke on condition of anonymity because the deal was pending a physical, said the Giants will get the third-round pick that the Chiefs got as compensation for Ryan Poles becoming the general manager of the Chicago Bears along with a sixth-round pick in the 2023 draft that will be hosted by Kansas City.

"We just thought it was for the best of the team,” Giants coach Brian Daboll told reporters Thursday.

Toney was drafted in the first round by the Giants last year and is under contract through the 2024 season with a fifth-year team option.

That makes the trade relatively low risk for the Chiefs, who still have eight selections in next year's draft.

Toney only has two catches for no yards this season in part because of a right hamstring injury he sustained in training camp. He tweaked the injury in Week 2 against Carolina, then hurt his left hamstring in practice earlier this month.

The Chiefs are off this week, which could give Toney time enough to recover — and learn their playbook — before they begin the second half of the season against the Tennessee Titans on Nov. 6 at Arrowhead Stadium.

The Giants were eager to gain draft capital for Toney, who had been bypassed on the depth chart in New York, while the Chiefs were eager to gain a high-upside wide receiver signed for the next two years. Their top two wide receivers, Mecole Hardman and JuJu Smith-Schuster, are scheduled to become free agents after this season.

Toney has only appeared in 12 of a possible 24 games because of injuries and a bout with COVID-19. He has 41 catches for 420 yards, including a game against Dallas last year in which he caught 10 passes for 189 yards.

He was ejected from that game for throwing a punch late in a blowout loss to the Cowboys.

The Chiefs had been looking for help at wide receiver ahead of the Nov. 1 trade deadline. They had recently inquired about Elijah Moore, who had requested a trade from the Jets, and veterans Texans wide receiver Brandin Cooks.

If he's able to stay healthy, Toney could end up being a steal in Kansas City, where Patrick Mahomes has turned a series of lower-profile receivers into stars. And he would do it at a bargain price for the cap-strapped Chiefs, who would owe Toney just over $1.9 million guaranteed next season and $2.5 million in 2024 before the fifth-year option for 2025.

His skillset, which in some ways mimics the departed Tyreek Hill, also fits nicely in coach Andy Reid's scheme. Toney has the speed to beat defenses deep, quickness enough to line up in the slot and can even work out of the backfield.

Hays - Volleytech Sports Club will be hosting tryouts this Sunday, October 30th at Hays Middle School. There will be two times for players to tryout and split by age group. This will be for winter teams in 2023.

11's, 12's and 13's will begin at 1:00 and go until 2:30.

Beginning at 2:30 will be the tryouts for 14's, 15's, 16's and 17's.&nbsp;

Brasser, a two-time honorable mention All-MIAA selection, fought through rainy and windy conditions to pick up her second individual title of the fall, winning by one stroke at 5-over 149 across two rounds. She sat in a tie for 15th after a first-round score of 6-over 78 before bouncing back with a final-round 1-under 71. It was Brasser's second-career sub-par round, making her the first player in team history with multiple sub-par rounds on record. It was the fifth under-par round by a Tiger in recorded history. After heavy rain and strong winds suspended play after 13 holes on Monday, Brasser finished her first round with back-to-back bogeys on Tuesday morning. But the Andale, Kan. native turned things around after signing her first scorecard, recording five birdies in the final round while the rest of the field struggled through windy and soggy conditions. Her round of 71 was tied for the low round of the week with two other competitors, one in the first round and one in the second round. She tied for first in the field with seven birdies on the week. The Tigers had one first-team selection, two second-team selections, three third-team selections, and three honorable mention picks. The nine honorees matches the second-most for a season in program history. ⚽ Nine Tiger women named All-MIAA 

BROKEN ARROW, Okla. –&nbsp;<a href="https://fhsuathletics.com/roster.aspx?rp_id=6948">Morgan Brasser</a>&nbsp;claimed her second individual title of this fall season by charging up the leaderboard in the second round at the Tulsa Cup, held at par-72 Forest Ridge Golf Club. Brasser fired a 1-under par round of 71, coming from seven shots back of the lead at the start of round two to claim the tournament by one stroke. She finished at 5-over par overall, a total of 149. Brasser topped a field of 90 golfers in the event, including four of the top 60 players in NCAA Division II according to the Golfstat individual ranking system. She carded five birdies, four bogeys, and nine pars in the second round to chase down round-one leader Lanie Veenendall of Top 20-ranked Augustana (S.D.). Veenendall shot a 1-under par 71 before shooting a 7-over par 79 in round two. By the end of the day, Brasser climbed 14 notches on the leaderboard to win the tournament. Brasser tied for the most birdies in the tournament with seven, matching Aubrey Marx of Southern Arkansas, and she tied for second in par-5 scoring for the tournament at 1-under par, only behind Emma Hester of Southern Arkansas (2-under). Brasser was even par on the par-3 holes in the tournament. The tournament was suspended due to rain on day one with most golfers stopping on or through 13 holes of play. Brasser finished out her opening round of 78 with a pair of bogeys before she began to catch fire in the second round, going 2-under par in her first nine holes of the second round (four birdies and two bogeys). She grabbed her fifth birdie of the second round on her 11th&nbsp;hole of round two, then played her final seven holes in 1-over par to hang on to the lead. The only other player to match Brasser and Veenendall for the best round in the tournament (71) was Nina Lee of Northeastern State, who also made a huge jump (25 places) on the leaderboard to third place at 7-over par after an opening round 80. Brasser now has three individual titles in her collegiate career. Earlier this fall she won the Augustana Fall Regional Preview, and she won the Holiday Inn Express Classic hosted by Missouri Western in the spring of the 2021-22 season. Fort Hays State as a team finished 14th&nbsp;with a two-round total of 661. Brasser fired a 1-under par round of 71, coming from seven shots back of the lead at the start of round two to claim the tournament by one stroke. She finished at 5-over par overall, a total of 149. Brasser topped a field of 90 golfers in the event, including four of the top 60 players in NCAA Division II according to the Golfstat individual ranking system. She carded five birdies, four bogeys, and nine pars in the second round to chase down round-one leader Lanie Veenendall of Top 20-ranked Augustana (S.D.). Veenendall shot a 1-under par 71 before shooting a 7-over par 79 in round two. By the end of the day, Brasser climbed 14 notches on the leaderboard to win the tournament. Brasser tied for the most birdies in the tournament with seven, matching Aubrey Marx of Southern Arkansas, and she tied for second in par-5 scoring for the tournament at 1-under par, only behind Emma Hester of Southern Arkansas (2-under). Brasser was even par on the par-3 holes in the tournament. The tournament was suspended due to rain on day one with most golfers stopping on or through 13 holes of play. Brasser finished out her opening round of 78 with a pair of bogeys before she began to catch fire in the second round, going 2-under par in her first nine holes of the second round (four birdies and two bogeys). She grabbed her fifth birdie of the second round on her 11th&nbsp;hole of round two, then played her final seven holes in 1-over par to hang on to the lead. The only other player to match Brasser and Veenendall for the best round in the tournament (71) was Nina Lee of Northeastern State, who also made a huge jump (25 places) on the leaderboard to third place at 7-over par after an opening round 80. Brasser now has three individual titles in her collegiate career. HAYS, Kan. – Fort Hays State Volleyball fell in four sets to No. 8 ranked Nebraska-Kearney on Tuesday evening (Oct. 25) at Gross Memorial Coliseum. The Tigers evened up the match with a convincing second-set win and held a lead in the fourth, but the Lopers made a late burst to avoid a fifth set. UNK moved to 24-3 overall, 14-3 in the MIAA, while FHSU is now 10-15 overall and 5-12 in the MIAA.

UNK has now won 31-straight matches over the Tigers dating back to 2003. Fort Hays State held an 11-8 lead in the opening set only to see UNK go on a 7-0 burst to take a 15-11 advantage. The Tigers pulled back within two, but the Lopers went on to take the set 25-16. Bailee Sterling and Emilee Lane each had five kills in the set for the Lopers, while&nbsp;<a href="https://fhsuathletics.com/roster.aspx?rp_id=6674">Riley Tinder</a>&nbsp;recorded five for the Tigers. The Tigers stormed back in the second set to even the match with a convincing 25-17 win. They held an early lead only to see the Lopers knot the score at 10-10, but the Tigers pushed back ahead and led 17-13 before UNK took a timeout. KANSAS CITY, Mo. (AP) — Kansas City Chiefs defensive end Frank Clark was suspended two games by the NFL on Tuesday after pleading no contest last month to two counts of misdemeanor possession of an assault weapon in Los Angeles.

The league announced the suspension as the Chiefs (5-2) head into their bye week. He will miss games against the Titans and Jaguars and will be allowed back with the team on Nov. 14 in time for that week's game against the Chargers.

The three-time Pro Bowl pass rusher was sentenced to one year of probation and 40 hours of community service after he was arrested in March 2021, when he was pulled over while riding with another man in a vehicle that did not have a license plate. An officer noticed a weapon in the car and recovered two loaded firearms.

Three months later, Clark was pulled over for a code violation and officers discovered another gun in his vehicle.

The 29-year-old Clark has struggled with illnesses throughout the fall, and that's limited him to just 15 tackles and three sacks. That comes after a disappointing season in which Clark had 4 1/2 sacks, his lowest total since his rookie season.

The Chiefs, desperate to improve their pass rush after ranking among the league's worst last season, managed to rework Clark's massive contract in the offseason to keep him in Kansas City. He got a signing bonus of $4,550,000, a base salary of $3,725,000 this season and a roster bonus of $900,000, along with $75,000 for each game he is active.

Without Clark, the Chiefs will have to lean on first-round draft pick George Karlaftis and veteran Carlos Dunlap along with Mike Danna, who has struggled for several weeks with a calf injury but should be healthy after the bye. They also will need to get continued production from defensive tackle Chris Jones, who leads the team with five sacks.

He had three birdies in the opening round, then two in the second round.&nbsp;<a href="https://fhsuathletics.com/roster.aspx?rp_id=7103">Tanner Copeland</a>&nbsp;was the next Tiger finisher in a tie for 26th, shooting rounds of 74 and 78 for an 8-over total of 152. KANSAS CITY, Mo. - The Fort Hays State men's soccer team is receiving votes in the latest United Soccer Coaches Top 25 Poll, released on Tuesday. The Tigers were not listed in the poll last week after falling from No. 16 two weeks ago.

Fort Hays State is 8-4-5 overall on the season and 6-2-3 in the GAC/MIAA. The Tigers defeated then No. 19-ranked Southern Nazarene 1-0 and played to a scoreless draw with Northeastern State last week. With one match left to play in the regular season, the Tigers are tied for first place in the conference with 21 points. FHSU will face the other top-ranked team in the conference for its regular season finale, 19th-ranked Rogers State. The Tigers played to a 2-2 draw with the Hillcats earlier this season in Claremore.

The Tigers were not listed in the poll last week after falling from No. 16 two weeks ago.Fort Hays State is 8-4-5 overall on the season and 6-2-3 in the GAC/MIAA. The Tigers defeated then No. 19-ranked Southern Nazarene 1-0 and played to a scoreless draw with Northeastern State last week. With one match left to play in the regular season, the Tigers are tied for first place in the conference with 21 points. FHSU will face the other top-ranked team in the conference for its regular season finale, 19th-ranked Rogers State. KANSAS CITY, Mo. (AP) — The Kansas City Chiefs were staring at an early 10-point hole, on the road and against one of the best defenses in the NFL, yet managed to not only turn things around but roar to a 44-23 victory over the San Francisco 49ers on Sunday.

It changed the entire complexion of the first half of the season for Kansas City.

Rather than heading into their bye tied atop the AFC West with the Los Angeles Chargers, the Chiefs improved to 5-2 and are just a half-game back of Buffalo for the best record in the conference. And a valid argument could be made that the first seven games were far more difficult than what Kansas City will face down the stretch.

Maybe hosting a fifth straight AFC title game isn't quite the longshot it seemed after a stunning loss at Indianapolis.

“We had a tough schedule going into the bye. We knew that going into the season,” said Chiefs quarterback Patrick Mahomes, who threw bounced back from an early interception to throw for 423 yards and three scores against the 49ers.

Of the 10 games the Chiefs have after their bye, six are against teams that are .500 or worse, and only the Titans (4-2) are more than a game above the break-even mark. That includes the Jaguars (2-5), two games against the Broncos (2-5), a trip to Houston (1-4-1) and the Raiders (2-4) to finish the regular season.

“Obviously we lost a couple of games that we wanted to win,” Mahomes said, “but when you look back on it and you're 5-2 and you're first in the AFC West, you can't ask to be in a better position. So now we have to recalibrate, get off our feet, get our bodies back and then learn, because when we come back in this next stretch, we're going to be ready to go.”

The Chiefs could be in their best shape since training camp, too.

Defensive end Mike Danna should be fully recovered from a calf injury. Defensive back Rashad Fenton should be back from a hamstring injury. First-round pick Trent McDuffie, who has practiced the past two weeks but has not played since a hamstring injury landed the cornerback on injured reserve after the opener, also is expected back. And there's a chance the Chiefs will get backup tight end Blake Bell from IR and Lucas Niang off the physically unable to perform list.

“It's a good time (for the bye),” coach Andy Reid said. “I think it comes where we could afford to get a little bit healthier in some spots, in particular the corner spot — as long as the guys are out there and being safe. And that's kind of my primary concern right now. To get back on time. That's always important.”

The Chiefs signed JuJu Smith-Schuster and Marquez Valdes-Scantling to help replace Tyreek Hill, and for the first time Sunday, they delivered on their promise together. Smith-Schuster proved difficult to guard over the middle, catching seven balls for 124 yards and a score, while Valdes-Scantling showed off his speed on three catches for 111 yards.

“I think it’s the hard work we’re putting in. Like I said, it’s the chemistry,” Smith-Schuster said. “Patrick, you know, getting to trust all of us and putting the ball where it needs to be for us to go out and make the play.”

The Chiefs' run defense has struggled the past three weeks, ever since shutting down Tampa Bay. The 49ers had 101 yards at nearly 5 yards per attempt. And even Christian McCaffrey, who barely had a minute to learn the playbook after his trade from Carolina, managed to gouge the Kansas City front eight times for 38 yards.

The Chiefs' pass rush, which was among the league's worst last season, sacked the 49ers' Jimmy Garoppolo five times along with delivering eight quarterback hits. Chris Jones had two more sacks and forced another fumble.

Second-round pick Skyy Moore muffed another punt deep in Kansas City territory, just like he did at Indianapolis, when it led to a costly touchdown in an eventual defeat. He also made a mistake on a passing route that led to an interception.

The Chiefs reported no new injuries at San Francisco.

3 — The number of times over the first seven games the Chiefs have scored at least 40 points. The franchise record is five such games, set in 2003 and matched during the 2018 season.

The Chiefs get next week off before turning their focus to Tennessee on Nov. 6. It will be the fourth time in the first eight games that the Chiefs have played in prime time and the third such game at Arrowhead Stadium.

He was instrumental in Fort Hays State picking up a 27-14 win over Central Missouri this past Saturday in Hays. Brandt produced nine tackles, an interception, and two pass breakups in the 13-point win for the Tigers. His interception in the second quarter led to Fort Hays State taking a 10-7 lead. He picked off the pass at the UCM 35-yardline, setting up a short field for the offense to pick up its first touchdown of the game. FHSU held the lead for the remainder of the game. The nine tackles were a new career high for Brandt. Brant joined James Letcher, Jr. of Washburn (Offensive Athlete of the Week) and Kashan Griffin of Northwest Missouri State (Special Teams Athlete of the Week) as the weekly honorees from the conference office.&nbsp;&nbsp;

(AP) — Patrick Mahomes threw for 423 yards and&nbsp;<a href="https://twitter.com/Chiefs/status/1584321617814949888?s=20&amp;t=5F0B698sMhxy5QcbxreI6A">three touchdowns</a>&nbsp;to rally Kansas City back from another double-digit deficit in the Chiefs' 44-23 victory over the San Francisco 49ers on Sunday.

Mahomes got off to a rough start in this Super Bowl rematch with&nbsp;<a href="https://twitter.com/49ers/status/1584283293238710272?s=20&amp;t=5F0B698sMhxy5QcbxreI6A">his early interception</a>&nbsp;putting Kansas City (5-2) in a 10-0 hole but that once again proved to be no problem as he led the Chiefs to touchdowns on six of the next seven drives.

Mecole Hardman scored on two TD runs and&nbsp;<a href="https://twitter.com/Chiefs/status/1584287709123616768?s=20&amp;t=5F0B698sMhxy5QcbxreI6A">an 8-yard catch</a>, Justin Watson caught a 4-yard TD and JuJu Smith-Schuster finished it off with a 45 yard catch and run. Clyde Edwards-Helaire also scored on a 16-yard run.

The comeback improved Kansas City to 13-9 with Mahomes when falling behind by at least 10 points with the most memorable coming in a Super Bowl win over the 49ers (3-4) following the 2019 season.

The Niners dropped back-to-back games despite getting a boost from the addition this week of&nbsp;<a href="https://twitter.com/49ers/status/1584281609674510337?s=20&amp;t=5F0B698sMhxy5QcbxreI6A">running back Christian McCaffrey</a>, who had 62 yards on 10 scrimmage touches in his San Francisco debut.

But San Francisco settled for three field goals and came up empty on another chance when Jimmy Garoppolo threw an interception at the goal line before Kansas City ran away with it in the second half.

The Chiefs took control with back-to-back touchdown drives to start the second half. They started the opening drive of the third quarter at the San Francisco 33 following a 48-yard kick return by Isiah Pacheco and a personal foul on Jauan Jennings. Edwards-Helaire scored three players later to make it 21-13.

Kansas City made it 28-13 when Mahomes found Watson for the TD one play after Jerick McKinnon gained 34 yards on a third-and-20 screen pass.

Mahomes then answered a TD pass from Garoppolo to George Kittle by hitting Marquez Valdes-Scantling on a 57-yard pass on third-and-11 to set up Hardman's second TD run.

Mahomes found Smith-Schuster on another third down play for the final TD.

Both teams blew some scoring chances in the final two minutes of the first half. Jaylon Moore was called for a false start for San Francisco on a field goal attempt, leading the Niners to punt.

But Skyy Moore muffed the punt and San Francisco recovered at the 12-yard line, only to give the ball right back when Garoppolo was intercepted by rookie Joshua Williams.

The Chiefs drove inside the 10 but had a touchdown negated by a chop block and then Harrison Butker missed a 39-yard field goal try. Kansas City led 14-13 at the break.

The Niners honored their alumni at the game, welcoming back the 2012 NFC championship team and presenting Bryant Young with his Hall of Fame ring. Coach Jim Harbaugh came back for the 10th anniversary of his team that went to the Super Bowl. It was his first time back with the 49ers since his the “mutual” parting following the 2014 season.

Quarterback Colin Kaepernick was not among the players who returned.

DENVER (AP) — Rookie Breece Hall ran for a 62-yard touchdown before leaving with a knee injury and the surprising New York Jets won their fourth straight by beating backup quarterback Brett Rypien and the punchless Denver Broncos 16-9 on Sunday.

Rookie cornerback Sauce Gardner broke up Rypien's fourth-down pass into the end zone to Courtland Sutton with just under 2 minutes remaining. Rypien's final heave in the closing moments fell woefully short of KJ Hamler's grasp at the goal line.

The Jets (5-2) are off to their best start since 2010, have their first four-game winning streak since 2015 and already surpassed their win total from last year when they went 4-13. New York also improved to 4-0 on the road.

Denver starting quarterback Russell Wilson was ruled out 24 hours before kickoff with a pulled hamstring, missing a game for just the fourth time in his 11-year career. But the Broncos, who are last in the league in scoring, fared no better under Rypien, who was making his second career start.

The Broncos (2-5) lost their fourth straight despite another outstanding defensive performance.

Zach Wilson was held without a touchdown for the second straight week, but he did enough to lead the Jets to the win despite his pedestrian stats: 16 for 26 for 121 yards.

Rypien's only other start was also against the Jets, a 37-28 win at MetLife Stadium in 2020, but he went 24 for 46 for 225 yards and no touchdowns and threw a crucial second-half interception in this one.

The Jets lost Hall to a left knee injury in the second quarter when he was tackled by Patrick Surtain II and Jonas Griffith after a short run. He was helped off the field and carted to the locker room.

Coach Robert Saleh said after the game the initial diagnosis for Hall is an ACL injury.

Hall finished with 72 yards on four carries, including the&nbsp;<a href="https://twitter.com/NFL/status/1584282202526752768">62-yard touchdown</a>&nbsp;run in which he hit a top speed of 21.87 mph according to NextGen Stats, the fastest by a ballcarrier this season.

Rypien's throw to tight end Greg Dulcich in triple coverage was easily picked off by safety&nbsp;<a href="https://twitter.com/nyjets/status/1584312158183395331">Lamarcus Joyner</a>, whose 27-yard return to the Denver 37 set up Greg Zuerlein's 33-yard field goal that gave the Jets a 13-9 lead early in the fourth quarter.

Zuerlein's 45-yarder as the first half expired sent the Jets into halftime with a 10-9 lead.

That field goal was into the wind at the south end zone, the same direction that Brandon McManus missed an extra point following&nbsp;<a href="https://twitter.com/Broncos/status/1584285371327983618">Latavius Murray's 2-yard TD</a>&nbsp;run.

McManus also missed a 56-yarder with the wind before making a 44-yarder to put Denver ahead 9-7.

Hall was injured on the next play from scrimmage and was helped off the field and taken to the medical tent on the Jets' sideline.

The rookie second-rounder from Iowa State had established himself as a key playmaker for the Jets and was coming off a season-high 116 yards rushing at Green Bay. He leads the Jets with 463 yards and four touchdowns on 80 attempts.

The opening round of the tournament will be on Sunday, October 30, followed by the semifinals and finals on November 4 and 6 at the campus site of the highest seed remaining following the opening round. Fort Hays State (10-1-7, 5-1-5 MIAA) tied Central Oklahoma (11-3-4, 6-3-2 MIAA) for fourth in the MIAA standings, both with 20 points (wins earn 3 points, ties earn 1). The teams played to a 1-1 tie in the regular season in Edmond, but the Tigers held the tiebreak for the higher seed by virtue of a better result against the conference's top finisher Central Missouri. FHSU tied Central Missouri, while UCO lost to Central Missouri in the regular season. Central Missouri was the regular season champion in the MIAA with 28 points, going 9-1-1 in conference play. Emporia State and Northwest Missouri State tied for second, both with 24 points. Emporia State will be the No. 2 seed due to its head-to-head win over Northwest Missouri State in the regular season.
