ELLINWOOD – The TMP-Marian Monarchs softball team bounced back
from just the second doubleheader loss of the season with a sweep of Ellinwood
on Friday in a pair of make-up games from earlier this season.

Game 1: TMP 10, Ellinwood 6 In the first game of the doubleheader the Monarchs opened
the game with a four-run first inning and three Monarchs collected three hits
each as they claimed the 10-6 victory.

TMP freshman Brynn Rebel led off the game with her first
career homerun putting TMP up 1-0. Two hitters Brooke Koenigsman doubled in a
run. Bridget Feldt and Teagan Gottschalk added RBI singles in the inning as TMP
built a 4-0 lead.

The Monarchs scored a single run on a passed ball in the
second inning. 

Ellinwood cut the deficit to 5-3 with a run in the bottom of
the second and two more in the third inning.

The Monarchs answered back with two runs in the top of the
fourth inning. Halle Dreiling drove in a run with a double and then Bria Wildholz singled in a run making it 7-3 TMP.

Brooke Koenigsman hit her fourth homerun of the season, a
two-run homer, in the top of the sixth inning putting TMP up 9-4. A Gottschalk sacrifice
fly later in the inning made it 10-4 TMP.

The Eagles got a pair of runs back in the bottom of the
inning but the Monarchs went on to secure the 10-6 victory.

Brynn Rebel, Brooke Koenigsman and Bria Windholz all
collected three hit each. Koenigsman drove in three runs. Koenigsman and Rebel
homered. 

Rebel earned the win. She allowed four unearned runs on
three hits with five walks and six strikeouts.

Game 2: TMP 13, Ellinwood 1 The Monarchs offense exploded for six runs in the first
inning in a 13-1 win in game two of the doubleheader.

Brooke Koenigsman doubled in the first run of the game
putting TMP up 1-0. Bridget Feldt and Teagan Gottschalk followed with back-to-back
RBI single to for 3-0 TMP lead.

Two batters later Raegan Allen drove in two more with an RBI
single for a 5-0 lead. Molly Helget added an RBI single putting TMP up 6-0 after
the top half of the first inning.

Koenigsman homered for the second time in the doubleheader
putting TMP up 7-0.

Leading 7-1 the Monarchs got back-to-back singles to lead
off the fourth inning when Halle Dreiling doubled home a run for an 8-1 TMP
lead. 

Two hitters later Koenigsman singled in a run in a 10-1 TMP
lead. A Feldt sacrifice fly made it 11-1 TMP.

In the top of the fifth inning Brynn Rebel singled in a run
and Brynn Rebel followed with a run scoring double putting TMP up 13-1.

Dreiling and Koenigsman collected three hits each.
Koenigsman homered and drove in four runs. 

Bria Windholz earned the win, She allowed just one run on
five hits with five strikeouts in five innings. 

They will travel to Plainville on Tuesday.

🥎 Monarchs offense leads the way in sweep of Ellinwood

BROKEN ARROW, Okla. – Fort Hays State Softball punched its ticket for the MIAA Tournament next week in Oklahoma by sweeping Northeastern State in a doubleheader on Friday. The Tigers won game one by shutout, 4-0, before rallying late for a 3-2 win in game two. FHSU improved to 26-22 overall and 10-14 in the MIAA. NSU moved to 8-35 overall and 3-21 in the MIAA.

Fort Hays State is now mathematically clear of Nebraska-Kearney and Newman for the last spot to get into the MIAA Tournament. All that is left to be determined is what seed the Tigers will be come next week in Oklahoma. They still have a chance for a seed higher than No. 10 going into the final day of MIAA play on Saturday. The Tigers are only a game back of a three-way tie for seventh in the standings between Missouri Southern, Missouri Western, and Central Missouri, all at 11-13.

Game 1: Fort Hays State 4, Northeastern State 0 The Tigers took advantage of some RiverHawk defensive miscues, while Savannah Egger&nbsp;tossed her fifth shutout of the season and 20th&nbsp;complete game overall in the first contest of the day.

Egger worked out of a bases loaded jam in the first inning after the RiverHawks recorded three hits. She allowed only two hits the remainder of the game to move to 14-10 overall on the season. Egger recorded one of her nine strikeouts in the game in the two-out bases loaded situation to escape early trouble. The nine strikeouts were her most since recording 10 against Rockhurst on March 13.

A three-error inning in the fifth by NSU led to the first two runs for FHSU. Audrey Gillespie&nbsp;reached base by error to start the inning and a Madison Pierce&nbsp;single put two runners on before a passed ball moved the runners into scoring position with two outs. A throwing error on a grounder by Peyton Shepard&nbsp;allowed the first run to score and then a fielding error off the bat of Sarah TIffany&nbsp;allowed the second run to score.

The Tigers added insurance runs in the seventh when Regan Curry and Carly Stuke&nbsp;walks and Peyton Shepard&nbsp;being hit by a pitch set up a bases loaded situation with one out. Tiffany reached on a fielder's choice, driving in a run, and then Loren Beggs&nbsp;doubled home another run to make it 4-0.

Korynn Tindel (2-11) took the loss for NSU, throwing a complete game with five hits allowed, three strikeouts, and a pair of walks allowed.

Game 2: Fort Hays State 3, Northeastern State 2 Just like the first contest of the day, the Tigers and RiverHawks battled to a scoreless tie through four innings before the Tigers broke through with a run in the fifth. Morgan Schmidt&nbsp;had a no-hitter going through the first 3 2/3 innings of the game, but the RiverHawks found a way to get a pair of runs in the sixth and take a 2-1 lead. However, the Tigers had the response needed into the top of the seventh, taking the lead back 3-2, then Schmidt closed out her complete-game effort to push the Tigers into the postseason.

The Tigers recorded a hit in each of the first four innings and had runners in scoring position in three of those four innings, but could not break through until the fifth inning. Carly Stuke&nbsp;opened the fifth with a walk, moved up to second on a sacrifice bunt by Peyton Shepard, and then came into score on an RBI single by Sarah Tiffany.

A double and single by NSU in the sixth set up an RBI single that tied the game. A sacrifice fly then put the RiverHawks into the lead momentarily until the Tigers rallied back in front the next half inning in their final at bat. Shepard and Tiffany started the seventh with back-to-back singles and then Audrey Gillespie&nbsp;loaded the bases with a one-out single. Alonda Dominguez&nbsp;drew a walk to tie the game and then Lilliana Ramirez-Johnson&nbsp;knocked in the go-ahead run on a fielder's choice grounder to the shortstop. NSU got a two-out hit in the bottom of the seventh, but a pop out ended the game.

Schmidt scattered five hits and struck out seven batters to move to 8-11 on the season. She walked only one batter. Madison Heinle (6-20) threw a complete game for NSU, allowing 10 hits and three walks, while striking out five.

Fort Hays State closes out the regular season on Saturday in a doubleheader at No. 12 ranked Rogers State. The Tigers are looking for their first win in Claremore and are 0-7 all-time against the Hillcats. Rogers State is in a three-way tie for first in the MIAA standings with Central Oklahoma and Pittsburg State, all at 21-3 in conference play. Central Oklahoma and Pittsburg State face each other on Saturday.

🥎 Tigers lock up MIAA Tournament spot with sweep of NSU

PARKHILL, Mo. – After having their two games rained out Thursday,
the Hays High baseball team went 1-1 Friday at the Butch Foster Memorial Classic
played at the Creekside Baseball Complex. The Indians lost their opener 5-3 to
Basehor-Linwood but came back to defeat Bonner Springs 10-0 in five innings.

The Indians are now 12-7 on the season. They open play in their
own Diamond Classic against TMP-Marian at 6:00 p.m. Thursday.

Basehor-Linwood 5, Hays 3 (8 innings)
The Bobcats (9-10) scored four runs in the top of the eighth inning to break a
1-1 tie. The Indians rallied with three in the bottom of the inning and had the
tying run at the plate.

Nolan Dreher pitched a gem, holding Basehor-Linwood to one
run on over the first seven innings. The Bobcats opened the eighth with a
leadoff double, fielder’s choice, walk and single to go up 3-1. Another fielder’s
chose scored the third run of the inning. The fourth scored on a single.

Hays would use a leadoff off walk followed by a couple of fielder’s
choices and an error to plate two in the bottom of the inning but a popup and
fly out ended the game.

Dreher suffered the loss allowing five runs on four hits
with five strikeouts and two walks over 7 1/3 innings. 

Dylan Haselhorst drove in two of the Indians three runs. 

HHS was held to only three hits as they lost their fourth
straight game.

Hays 10, Bonner Springs 0 (5 innings)
Carter Graham didn’t allow a hit in the run-rule victory striking out three
and walking three. The only real threat came in the second after back-to-back
walks to lead off the inning and an error loaded the bases but Graham got a
strikeout and fly out to keep the Braves (1-12) off the board.

The Indians scored in every inning plating two in the first,
one in the second, two more in the third and fourth then three in the fifth to
end the game by run-rule.

Johnny Cano and Carter Graham both had two hits, Dylan
Haselhorst had a double and Jack Wiemer drove in two runs.

⚾ HHS splits two games at rain-shortened Butch Foster Classic

DETROIT (AP) — Seth Lugo pitched seven scoreless innings and the Kansas City Royals won their fourth straight game, beating the Detroit Tigers 8-0 on Friday.

Lugo (4-1) allowed three singles and matched a career high with nine strikeouts in a game played at 1:10 pm due to the&nbsp;<a href="https://apnews.com/article/nfl-draft-caleb-williams-first-round-picks-36120e9df01c0cdaebf0e621cfbd2a8e">NFL draft</a>&nbsp;festivities in downtown Detroit on Friday evening.

Tigers starter Reese Olson (0-4) allowed one run on three hits and three walks in seven innings, striking out eight.

Kansas City led 1-0 before scoring seven runs in the ninth inning.

With one out in the third, Adam Frazier and Kyle Isbel singled before Maikel Garcia walked to load the bases for the Royals. Bobby Witt Jr. hit a sacrifice fly to center.

The Tigers thought they had the lead in the bottom of the third, but Frazier reached over the right-field fence to rob Parker Meadows of a home run before doubling Javier Báez off first.

Detroit got a pair of two-out hits against former teammate John Schreiber in the eighth, but he struck out Spencer Torkelson to end the inning.

The Royals loaded the bases with one out in the ninth, thanks to two singles and a walk off Tyler Holton. Holton, usually one of Detroit's best control pitchers, then hit Frazier and Isbel with consecutive pitches to make it 3-0.

Garcia greeted Will Vest with a two-run single to put the Royals up by five, and Witt tripled before Vinnie Pasquantino's sacrifice fly made it 8-0.

Tigers utilityman Andy Ibáñez (hamstring) started a rehab assignment on Thursday, going 2-3 with a double for Triple-A Toledo.

KANSAS CITY, Mo. (AP) — The Kansas City Chiefs traded up to select Texas wide receiver Xavier Worthy with the No. 28 pick in the NFL draft on Thursday night, giving Patrick Mahomes the kind of speedy deep threat they have not enjoyed since Tyreek Hill was on the roster.

The Chiefs were supposed to pick last in the first round after winning their second consecutive Super Bowl and third in five years, but they managed to trade up with one of their biggest AFC rivals in Buffalo. The Chiefs sent the 32nd pick along with a fourth-rounder and seventh-rounder to the Bills for No. 28, a fourth-rounder and a seventh-rounder.

“Listen, I like the wide receivers we've got,” Chiefs coach Andy Reid said, “but to go add somebody of this quality is important, or a good move to strengthen it. I don't want to slight the guys we have but he's a nice addition.”

So nice that Mahomes, who was attending a gala in New York, instantly took to social media to approve of it.

“We told Patrick," Reid said with a smile. “Patrick is curious. He loves this stuff. It doesn't matter if it's offense or defense. He just loves the draft. He's texting away at us and we get back to him. He's great with it.”

Worthy broke the NFL combine record when he ran a 4.21-second 40-yard dash, exhibiting the kind of raw speed that Kansas City last enjoyed when Hill was on the team. But Worthy is more than just a deep threat, showing promise as a route runner and cutting down on the number of drops last season, when he caught 75 passes for 1,014 yards and five TDs.

“It doesn’t hurt to have down-the-field speed,” Reid said. “We’ve functioned without the great speed down the field and done well, but if you have an opportunity to get somebody you think is a good player, you probably need to take advantage of that.”

The Chiefs won the Super Bowl last year with a patchwork wide receiver corps, and they were in the market for help even before second-year pro Rashee Rice — their biggest breakout star of last season — got embroiled in legal trouble in Texas.

Dallas police allege that Rice was driving a Lamborghini well over 100 mph when he and a friend, who was driving a Corvette, lost control and began a chain-reaction crash that resulted in injuries to several people. Rice left the scene without seeing if anyone was injured, but turned himself in when police issued warrants for his arrest.

Rice has been released on bond, and Reid has said he would continue to participate in the Chiefs' offseason program as the legal situation plays out. But the Chiefs must prepare for the possibility they will be without him for at least the first part of the season — if not the entire season — as they try to become the first team to win three consecutive Super Bowls.

“It's a quarterback league and a speed game,” Chiefs general manager Brett Veach said, “and the more speed you have on the field, the harder it is for defenses to take away different elements of the game. We have a couple of guys now that can keep a defense guessing, and we're excited about what this will do.”

The Chiefs signed Hollywood Brown in free agency, and tight end Travis Kelce has been every bit as productive as any wide receiver. But otherwise, the Chiefs were faced with heading into the summer with Justin Watson, drop-prone Kadarius Toney and Skyy Moore, and journeymen such as Montrell Washington filling out the receiver corps.

So the trade to get Worthy wasn't a surprise. But the fact that the Bills picked up the phone raised some eyebrows.

Along with the fact that Kansas City has frequently ended their season in the playoffs, the Chiefs also swung a memorable first-round trade with them in 2017: They sent Buffalo their first- and third-round picks that year and a first-round pick the next year to move up to No. 10 and select Mahomes, which ultimately altered the trajectory of the entire franchise.

“Everyone goes into the process with their own list of priorities of what they want to do and what they want to accomplish,” Veach said. “I think they had a mindset of what they wanted to do. They've done a great job over the years. I'm sure it made sense to them. We were on our own agenda. We saw value there.”

HAYS - The Hays High Indians completed a doubleheader sweep of the
TMP-Marian Monarchs Thursday afternoon at TMP, winning 20-5 and 9-1.

GAME 1: Hays 20, TMP 5 In the first game of the day the Indians scored in all but
one inning on their way to a 20-5 win over TMP.

The Indians wasted no time, scoring five runs in the first
inning.

They took advantage of a leadoff single followed by a hit by
pitch and back-to-back walks taking a 1-0 lead on a Lakyn Zimmerman bases
loaded walk.

Avery Solida added a two-run single putting Hays High up
3-0. The Indians added another run on a wild pitch and an RBI groundout by Shae
Augustine for a 5-0 lead after the top of the first inning.

The Monarchs got a run back in the bottom of the inning when
Brooke Koenigsman singled home Brynn Rebel making it 5-1 Hays. 

Zimmerman singled in her second run of the game in the top
of the second as Hays built a 6-1 lead.

TMP closed the gap to two runs, scoring three runs in the bottom
of the third inning. 

Koenigsman single home a run followed by a Bria Windholz
two-run triple cutting Hays’ lead to 6-4.

But that was as close as the Monarchs got as Hays High
outscored the TMP 14-1 over the final four innings, including a seven-run
seventh in a 20-5 victory.

Hays’ Aubree Thomas earned the win for the Indians. She allowed
five runs, four earned on 10 hits with six strikeouts and two walks in seven
innings pitched.

Dezarea Schmidt finished four-for-five at the plate with a
homerun, two RBI’s and she scored five times. Haley Rees added three hits and
Dani Willeford and Lakyn Zimmerman each drove in three runs.

TMP’s Brynn Rebel suffered the loss. She allowed 20 runs, 13
earned on 17 hits with nine walks and six strikeouts in seven innings.

Brooke Koenigsman was three-for-four with three RBI’s.

GAME 2: Hays 9, TMP 1 In game two the Indians Riley Dreher held the Monarchs to
just one hit and Hays scored a run in all but two innings in a 9-1 victory.

Dezarea Schmidt picked up where she left in game one,
leading off the second game with a double and then scored the game’s first run
on a Lakyn Zimmerman RBI single.

TMP tied the game on an RBI single by Bridget Feldt.

Hays retook the lead in the top of the third inning on a
Zimmerman groundout.

The Indians added three more runs in the fifth and two each
in the sixth and seventh innings in a 9-1 victory.

Dezarea Schmidt finished three-for-four with four runs
scored. Riley Dreher was two-for-three with three RBI’s and Lakyn Zimmerman also
drove in three runs.

Dreher allowed just one unearned run on one hit with three
strikeouts in seven innings.

Feldt collected the only hit for TMP. Brooke Koenigsman was zero-for-three
and had her 24 game hit streak come to an end.

Bria Windholz suffered the loss for TMP. She allowed nine
runs, six earned, on 10 hits with four walks and three strikeouts in seven
innings.

TMP drops to 12-6 and will travel to Ellinwood on Friday.

Hays improves to 11-5 and will play at Salina Central on Friday.

Ragans (1-2) allowed the lone Toronto run on three hits and three walks while striking out four.

José Berrios (4-1) had his streak of 22 1/3 scoreless innings snapped when Perez, following Vinnie Pasquantino's two-out walk, deposited&nbsp;<a href="https://x.com/BallySportsKC/status/1783563442760094190">the first pitch he saw into the left-field bullpen</a>&nbsp;to give Kansas City the lead in the first inning.

When the fifth ended, and an early drizzle had turned to steady rain, umpire chief Chris Guccione called for the tarp to cover the infield. Blue Jays manager John Schneider came out to argue, wanting another opportunity to tie or take the lead, and apparently he convinced Guccione to have the grounds crew roll the tarp back and attempt to get the field in shape.

After about 10 minutes, Guccione again summoned the tarp. The field was covered for about 2 hours, and when the rain stopped, the grounds crew spent another hour-plus working on it. At that point, the game was called after a delay of 3 hours, 38 minutes.

Ragans had to work around plenty of trouble early, including a runner-on-the-corners situation in the second, when he got Alejandro Kirk to fly out. In the fourth, the Blue Jays bookended Davis Schneider's walk with hits by Justin Turner and Ernie Clement to cut the Royals' lead in half, but Daulton Varsho and Kirk could not get across the tying run.

The Blue Jays had another try in the fifth, when center fielder Kyle Isbel made&nbsp;<a href="https://x.com/BallySportsKC/status/1783578273974239339">a spectacular over-the-shoulder catch</a>&nbsp;of Isiah Kiner-Falefa's drive to the warning track. Isbel also raced down George Springer's blooper. Then, after Vladimir Guerrero Jr. drew a walk, Bo Bichette popped foul to end what turned out to be the Blue Jays' final at-bat.

behind first place Dodge City and 15 ahead of third place Valley Center.

Caleb Thompson fired a
7-over-par 79 and finished in fifth place. Braxton Banker placed seventh with
an 82 and Cooper Johnson ninth with an 85.

Dodge City’s AJ Peters
was the individual champ with a 75, edging teammate Aiden Robinson by two
strokes.

⛳ HHS places three in top-10, finishes second in Garden City

A basketball game was played. There was a winner. However, in the end, it was all to raise money for ALS.&nbsp;

"It was all for a good cause. It was a fun atmosphere," said Thomas More Prep-Marian student council sponsor Emma Stroyan, who not only helped her students plan the event but also played in the game.&nbsp;

The planning began at TMP in August 2023 for a student service project. That quickly transformed into an idea to include Hays High School's student council for a combined effort.

The student council members from both schools made plans, had lunch together and was ready to go in March. The original date though was scrapped due to terrible weather conditions that threatened the safety of any one attending the event.

One month later the game was moved to Hays High.

A large student section showed up for both schools, helping create the night's rivalry. Each school's pep bands also played.

In addition to the game, half-court shots were taken to win prizes, raffle prizes were given away and a three-point contest was conducted at halftime. Two students from TMP won the shooting contest, leaving Hays High student council sponsor Alan Neal to receive a whipped cream pie to the face.

"We didn't know what to expect. Awesome turnout. Kids were here, kids were rowdy. ... But an amazing fun night," Neal said. He also gives full credit to TMP and its STUCO for the idea and for initiating contact with Hays High.

A traveling trophy was awarded to TMP, who won the game 49-41. Likely, though, the most important stat of the night was the zero injuries suffered by the staff members. The hope is that the game will remain a yearly collaboration through the change of student council members from year to year. $1,400 was raised in the inaugural event.

KANSAS CITY, Mo. (AP) — Alec Marsh and four relievers combined for a six-hitter as the Kansas City Royals beat the Toronto Blue Jays 3-2 Wednesday night.

Maikel Garcia and Salvador Perez each had two hits and an RBI for Kansas City, which bounced back from a loss in the series opener on Monday to win two straight.

“That’s Royals baseball," said Bobby Witt Jr., who is batting .350 during a five-game hitting streak. "We've got to keep doing that. Get on the base paths. Be aggressive. Make things happen. The bats will come around and (we'll) hit some homers, too.”

John Schreiber (2-0) picked up the win in relief. James McArthur earned his sixth save.

“It’s been awesome,” McArthur said. “Those guys coming in early in the game kind of sets the tone for us to come in later. We all have a really good idea of what we’re trying to do in the pen.

"The coaches do a great job of giving us good scouting reports, and then we can always rely on (catchers) Salvy (Perez) and Freddy (Fermin). We just try to pass the baton to each other and feed off each other.”

Yariel Rodríguez (0-1) gave up three runs on six hits in four innings. He struck out two and walked two.

Marsh left the game with one out in the fifth inning after taking a line drive off his right forearm. He fielded the ball and threw out Addison Barger at first, but was removed after that. He gave up no runs on two hits.

“We feel like we got pretty lucky,” manager Matt Quatraro said. “It got him in like just above the elbow, on the forearm, but squaring him up. I mean, you could see (the laces) pretty good.

"He was saying, ‘Oh, it’s coming back. It’s coming back.’ We've got to use our heads there a little bit.”

The Royals scored in the first, helped by a couple of walks by Rodriguez. Witt and Vinnie Pasquantino walked with one out, and Perez lined a single to left to score Witt.

The Royals added a run in the second. Kyle Isbel hit a two-out double that Barger misplayed into three bases. Barger, who made his debut Wednesday, played right field and third base in Triple-A. He broke in and the ball sailed over his head. Garcia singled, scoring Isbel with the Royals' second run.

The Blue Jays have scored just seven runs in the last three games, two of them 3-2 losses. Toronto manager John Schneider is not worried.

“It’s a matter of time," he said. "You got to keep plugging away. Everyone knows how we’re built, but it takes a game or two to really get rolling. And I think the encouraging part is we are where we are (record-wise) without firing on all cylinders really. So, we’re confident it will turn around.”

The Blue Jays got on the board in the fifth when George Springer homered off reliever Angel Zerpa.

The Royals chased Rodriguez with three straight singles in the fifth. Witt's single scored Isbel with KC's third run.

Toronto got an RBI groundout from Ernie Clement to pull within 3-2 in the sixth.

Blue Jays: OF Kevin Kiermaier was placed on the 10-day injured list with left hip flexor inflammation. Toronto called up Addison Barger from Triple-A Buffalo to take his place. Barger made his MLB debut in left field and hit eighth in the order.

The Blue Jays and Royals will conclude their four-game series Thursday afternoon. The Blue Jays will send RHP Jose Berrios (4-0, 0.85 ERA) to the mound to face LHP Cole Ragans (0-2, 4.32 ERA).

HAYS, Kan. - The Fort Hays State track and field teams picked up 11 event victories, while recording five national qualifying marks at the 2024 FHSU Alex Francis Classic Wednesday afternoon at the FHSU Track &amp; Field Facility. The men picked up three provisional marks, while the women finished with two.

Toby Wahlmeier's&nbsp;swift 200m sprint of 21.20 seconds earned him a podium finish and improved his provisional mark. Wahlmeier has DII provisional marks in the 100m and 200m sprints. Ethan Lang&nbsp;placed second in the 400m in a time of 49.29 seconds. On the women's side, Maggie Remsberg and Taylor Savolt&nbsp;came within half a second of a provisional mark in the women's 100m hurdles. Remsberg finished second with a personal best of 14.52 seconds and Savolt finished in 14.66 for a third-place finish. Tori Poe&nbsp;finished second in the women's 100m in a personal best time of 12.01 seconds. Kinsley Brown&nbsp;had a top-three finish in the 200m in a time of 24.69 seconds and placed second in the 400m in a time of 57.89 seconds.

Among standout moments on the track were the 800m races, where Faith Little's&nbsp;speed propelled her to victory in 2:19.25, while Lucorien DeBoest commanded the men's 800m, crossing the line in an impressive 1:54.97. In the women's 1,500m, Jaycee Vath&nbsp;stamina led the field with a time of 4:45.49, while Ethan Fisher secured a win in the men's 1,500m, clocking in at an astonishing 3:57.69. Noah Morenz topped the 3,000m steeplechase in a time of 9:41.24. Carsyn Turpin&nbsp;earned a victory in the men's 5,000m, winning the event with a time of 15:50.04.

In the men's field events, Dayton Williams&nbsp;soared to victory in the high jump, clearing an impressive height of 6-9.75, securing not only the top spot but also improving his previous provisional mark. Keomonie Archie&nbsp;leapt 24-feet, 2.5-inches in the long jump for victory. Archie's long jump marked his personal best and improved his provisional. Kurtis McCormick&nbsp;placed second in the pole vault with a height of 15-feet, 4.25-inches.

In the women's field events, Liberty Booker&nbsp;showcased her dominance in the throwing events, delivering a sensational performance in the hammer throw with a winning distance of 175-4.0. Booker's outstanding achievement not only secured her the top position, but also a DII provisional mark. She was second in the shot put with a throw of 43-feet, 3.25-inches. After strong showings on the track, Savolt won the women's long jump in a distance of 18-feet, 8-inches.

Annabeth Baalmann&nbsp;demonstrated her ability in the pole vault, securing victory with a commendable height of 12-feet, 7.5 inches. Baalmann's performance earned her first place, as well as another provisional mark for the sophomore standout. Ryhann Brown&nbsp;showcased her skills with a throw of 137-feet, 1-inch, securing a second-place finish and a DII provisional mark. Jessica Saunders&nbsp;placed third in the discus with a throw of 146-feet, 2-inches.

Shauna Lee&nbsp;was 44th with rounds of 82, 89 and 87, while Hayden York&nbsp;finished in a tie for 45th with rounds of 91, 86 and 82 and Ella Neuhauser&nbsp;fired three-consecutive rounds of 88 to finish 48th.

Central Missouri captured the team title with a total score of 907, defeating Rogers State by nine shots. Nebraska-Kearney's Juliana Botero Molina won the individual title with a total score of 7-over, posting rounds of 78, 71 and 74.

⛳ Tigers women finish 10th at MIAA Championships

The Kansas Wrestling Coaches Association recently announced their 2024 award winners and Hays High's Harley Zimmerman is the 5A Boys Senior Wrestler of the Year.

Zimmerman went 42-0 and won the state title at 144 pounds in February.

HAYS - The TMP baseball team dropped their second straight
doubleheader on Tuesday as they’ve now lost a season-high four straight games, losing
to Great Bend 9-0 and 11-5.

Game 1: Great Bend 9, TMP 0 In the first game the Panthers used a five-run fifth inning
and out-hit the Monarchs 13-5 in the 9-0 victory.

The two teams were scoreless through two innings before the
Panthers plated two runs in the top of the third inning.

They added five in the fifth and two more in the sixth for a
9-0 lead.

Braxton Basgall collected two of the Monarchs five hits.

Ty Schmeidler suffered the loss. He allowed seven runs, four
earned on eight hits in four innings. He struck out five and walked two.

Game 2: Great Bend 11, TMP 5 In the second game the Monarchs jumped out to an early 3-0
lead. Scoring a pair of runs on an error in the first inning and then later in
the inning they scored on a wild pitch.

But Great Bend came back to tie it in the fifth and then
scored eight runs in the sixth inning on their way to the 11-5 victory.

both hits for TMP.Issac Purinton suffered the loss for the Monarchs. He

innings relief. TMP is now 10-6 and will travel to Russell on Friday.
