🏀 Tiger women drop to seventh in coaches poll; 14th in media rankings

After suffering its first loss of the season, the Fort Hays State women's basketball team slid down in both national polls released Tuesday. The Tigers now rank seventh in the WBCA NCAA Division II Coaches Poll and sit 14th in the D2CSC National Media Poll.

This is the second time the Tigers have been ranked seventh in the coaches poll this season, with the last occurrence coming on December 3. Coincidentally, FHSU was also ranked 14th in the media poll that week.

The Tigers, now 12-1 on the year, moved down four spots in the coaches poll this week and dipped 10 spots in the media ranks. Fort Hays State is still the top-ranked team in both the MIAA and the Central Region, with Pittsburg State sitting in 13th this week in the coaches poll. The Gorillas did manage to leap FHSU in the media ranks, moving to 12th.This is the eighth time the Tigers have been ranked No. 7 in the DII coaches poll. FHSU is a perfect 12-0 when playing as the seventh-ranked team in the country, including a pair of blowout conference wins this season over Central Missouri and Washburn.

The Tigers have now been mentioned in the coaches poll in 111 separate weekly releases, including 72 appearances in the top 10. FHSU is 169-44 when ranked and 118-25 when ranked in the top 10.After Tuesday's contest against Nebraska-Kearney was postponed to February 26 due to travel concerns, the Tigers will now return to action on Thursday when they host Emporia State beginning at 5:30 p.m.
