Phillipsburg resident Freda Faye Redinger passed away Feb. 14, 2021,&nbsp; at the Hays Medical Center at the age of 85.&nbsp; She was born July 5, 1935,&nbsp; in Kirwin, the daughter of Stanley &amp; Lillian (Kane) Cox.

Survivors include her sons: Don of Kansas City, Bob &amp; Terry of 
Phillipsburg; her daughter, Pamela Imm of Phillipsburg; her sister Carol
 Pratt; 11 grandchildren, 24 great grandchildren &amp; 5 great great 
grandchildren

Cremation was chosen.&nbsp; A graveside service will be held at a later date.

Donna Kay (Schmidtberger) Albrecht, age 75, of&nbsp; Russell, Kansas, died Thursday, February 11, 2021, at Hays Medical Center.

Donna was born March 22, 1945, in Russell, Kansas, to Luetta May 
(Turner) and Herman Francis Schmidtberger. Donna grew up in the Fairport
 and Paradise area. Her family moved to Gorham, Kansas her Junior year 
where she graduated from Gorham High School in 1963. She was married to 
her high school sweetheart, and the love of her life Dennis Albrecht on 
July 7, 1963, in Paradise, Kansas. They made their home in Russell and 
moved into their current home in 1969. They celebrated their 50th&nbsp;Wedding Anniversary in 2013. This union was blessed with two daughters, Debra and Tamera.

Donna worked many different jobs including cooking at Gutierrez 
Mexican Restaurant in Russell, Yost Oil Operations, Russell County 
Appraiser’s Office, State Farm Insurance and then retiring from Dr. 
Donald Kuehn and Dr. Paul Llampert’s Optometric Office. She was member 
of St John Lutheran Church, Russell.

Family was the most important thing in her life! She was at every 
volleyball match, baseball game, wrestling match, tennis match and 
motorcycle race possible. The family took many trips together, most 
recently to Hawaii in early 2020. They enjoyed camping on their many 
different camping trips as well as Lake Wilson.

Donna loved to cook! She is famous for her bierocks and bread, and 
for knowing the recipes of Gutierrez’s favorites. She was a very active 
member of the RRH Auxiliary and loved to sew anything and everything and
 made multiple masks for the hospital to use for patients. Her biggest 
role was acting as President and organize the Annual Soup Supper for the
 past several years. She also helped with multiple blood drives as a 
member of the Auxiliary.

She collected cookie jars, salt and pepper shakers, and anything else
 that caught her eye. Donna and Dennis were also avid motorcycle riders 
and took many trips on their Goldwing during their younger years. They 
also loved to go rendezvous with any muzzle loader club around. They 
were very active in the Russell Muzzle Loader club and helped to 
organize the annual shoot. Donna and Dennis also traveled on many Vosh 
trips to Panama delivering eyeglasses to the needy. Other hobbies were 
antiquing, auctions, and thrift shopping.

She is survived by her husband of 57 years, Dennis, of the home; 
daughters Debra Morris (Case) of Russell, Kansas and Tamera Krause 
(Richard) of Russell, Kansas; four grandchildren, Coady Morris, Kale 
(Elizabeth) Morris, Nathan Krause and Ryan Krause; one great grandchild 
Noah Morris, with another one on the way. She is preceded in death by 
her parents, and two brothers, Charles Schmidtberger and Larry 
Schmidtberger.

Celebration of Donna’s Life will be held at 10:00 AM, Friday, 
February 19, 2021, at Pohlman-Varner-Peeler Mortuary of Russell.&nbsp; Burial 
will follow at Mt. Hermon Cemetery in Paradise, Kansas.&nbsp; Visitation will
 be held from 1:00 PM to 7:00 PM, Thursday, February 18, 2021, at 
Pohlman-Varner-Peeler Mortuary, with the family present to greet friends
 from 6:00 PM to 7:00 PM.&nbsp;

Donna Kay (Schmidtberger) Albrecht

Norma Jean (Gagna) Anderson, 92, of Russell, Kansas, died on Thursday, February 11, 2021, at the Russell Regional Hospital.

Norma Jean was born on February 10, 1929, on the family farm near Rice, Kansas, the daughter of Elzear H. and Ida Maude (Hanna) Gagna.&nbsp; Her family attended St. Peter’s Catholic Church in Aurora where she was baptized.&nbsp; The family lived on farms in the Aurora and Concordia areas and attended country schools through the eighth grade.&nbsp; Her family moved to Concordia, Kansas, in April 1943, and she graduated from Concordia High School and Our Lady of Perpetual Help Catholic High School.&nbsp; Norma Jean met her future husband, James W. (Jim) Anderson in 1946, following his return from service in the Army.&nbsp; They were united in marriage on October 14, 1946, in Concordia and moved to Russell, Kansas, in 1947.&nbsp; From this union Norma Jean and Jim were blessed with a son David.&nbsp; Norma Jean was a devoted wife and homemaker.&nbsp; She worked outside the house as an Avon representative, cook at the Russell High School, Travenol in Hays, Kansas and as a receptionist for Dr. Kuhn’s office.&nbsp; Norma Jean and Jim were longtime members of St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Russell.&nbsp; After 65 years of marriage, Jim preceded her in death on September 20, 2012. &nbsp;

Norma Jean enjoyed being involved in church activities, working with the youth organizations, church dinners, banquets and St. Mary’s Catholic Guild.&nbsp; She was also involved with the Salina Diocesan Council of Catholic Women, Russell County 4-H Fair, and working with her husband in the Knights of Columbus.&nbsp; She was very proud in helping put together the Knights of Columbus cookbook, featuring recipes submitted by K of C wives where over 11,000 cookbooks were sold.&nbsp; She also enjoyed being a fulltime wife and mother to her husband and son David.&nbsp; Most of all she cherished spending time with her family, especially her grandchildren, great grandchildren and great-great grandchildren.

Norma Jean is survived by her son, James David (Lisa) Anderson; Grandchildren Tiffinie (Monte) Mai, and Tammie (Kris) Schultz; Great Grandchildren, Lane Earlin Mai, Braden David Mai, Bailey Lynn (Sam) Kilian and Great Great Grandchildren, Brantley John, Oaklynn Alene and Emery Layne, all of Russell.

Norma Jean was also preceded in death by her parents; her five Gagna brothers, Alden, Duane, Dean, Hobart and Harold, and her two sisters Bernice Trahan and Fedora Mae Nobert. &nbsp;

A celebration of the funeral mass for Norma Jean will be held at 10:30 A.M. on Thursday, February 18, 2021, at the St. Mary Queen of Angels Catholic Church in Russell.&nbsp; Visitation will be from 9 A.M. to 8 P.M. on Wednesday, February 17, 2021, at the mortuary with family present to greet guests from 6 P.M. to 8 P.M. Wednesday, evening.&nbsp;

Frances “Francie” Hurd Herman, 65, of Topeka, passed away Monday, February 8, 2021. She
 was born June 12, 1955, in Topeka, Kansas, the daughter of Bruce and 
Nancy (Shell) Hurd. She graduated from Topeka West High School in 1973, 
and went on to attend The University of Kansas, graduating in 1978. Growing
 up an only child, Francie kept in touch with many friends and 
relatives, was a proud fan of her Jayhawks, spent weekends taking her 
dog, George, to the dog park, and above all enjoyed being a mother of 
four and grandmother of five. Francie worked numerous jobs, the 
last fifteen years as a legal assistant at the Law Office of Cooper and 
Lee, and then Sloan Law Firm. Survivors include her four 
children, J. Alex Herman, Carly Slattery (Kayle), Maddie Walker 
(Stephen), Zach Jeffries; five grandchildren Brayden and Sammie 
Staley-Herman, J.T. Slattery, and Emerson and Stevie Walker; and her 
dog, George. She was preceded in death by both of her parents, and a brother that died in infancy. A
 Celebration of her Life will be at 1:00 pm on Friday, February 19,

Frances 'Francie' Hurd Herman

Helen Ruth Hoff died Wednesday, Feb. 10, 2021, at Lawrence Memorial Hospital. She was 92 years old.

Ruth was born January 9, 1929, in Park, Kansas. She was the daughter 
of John and Dorothy (Dreher) Krannawitter. Ruth graduated from Hoxie 
High School in 1947 and worked as a telephone operator in Colby, KS. On 
November 18, 1950, she married Robert Hoff and went on to celebrate 54 
years of marriage before his death in 2004.

Ruth then moved to Baldwin City, KS and enjoyed her life there as a 
member of Annunciation Catholic Church and as a regular at Baldwin Rec 
Center. She loved playing cards with her friends, was a loyal fan of 
Tiger Woods, and enjoyed all sports. She loved attending any event that 
her grandchildren were involved in, always as their biggest fan. She 
loved her lady friends, her flowers, shopping, and was always ready to 
try a new restaurant. In short, she dearly loved life.

Ruth is survived by seven children, fourteen grandchildren, and six 
great grandchildren. Children and family include: Sally Brackney and 
husband Clark of Atlantic City, New Jersey, their daughter Megan and 
husband Jon and their daughter Bea of Brooklyn, New York, son Carson 
Brackney and wife Sherri, children Eva and Amelia of Shawnee, KS; 
Kathleen Hoff and husband Doug Harvey of Kansas City, Missouri, their 
daughter Amanda Lengal&nbsp;and her husband Frank and children Isabella and Vaughn of Powell, Ohio,&nbsp;son Eric Napolitano of Overland Park, KS, his son Marco of Lawrence, KS;
 Robbie Lamoreux and husband Gary of Baldwin City, KS, their daughter 
Katrina Watson of Lawrence, KS, son Brian of San Diego, California; 
Beverly Shown of Topeka, KS, her son Austin of Topeka, KS, daughter 
Audrey and her partner Jose Rodriquez of Overland Park, KS; Cynthia 
Taylor-Bigge and husband Stephen Bigge and daughter Rosalyn of
 Topeka, KS, her son Stuart of Lawrence, KS; Patrick Hoff and his wife

Helen Ruth Hoff

Tamara "Tammi" Kay Barnes, age 59, of Goodland passed away February 3, 2021 after a long battle with breast cancer.

Tammi was born February 7, 1961 to James and Janice (Smith) 
McClelland in Goodland. She spent her childhood in Goodland, where her 
father and mother owned the local Yamaha dealership. She enjoyed time 
spent riding her horse and watching her brother race motorcycles.&nbsp;

On April 28, 1978 she married Roger Skrdlant. To this union three children were born, Christopher, Carla and Jill.

Tammi enjoyed gardening, crafting, traveling, dearly loved spending 
time with her family and friends, and had a special talent for making 
any and everything beautiful.

She was preceded in death by her parents and grandparents; brother, Jimmy McClelland; and niece, Jenny McClelland.

Tammi is survived by her son, Christopher Skrdlant of Kearney, NE; 
daughter, Carla Sumner and her children Skylar, Clayton, and Caleb

Donna Jean Olsen, 90, passed away Friday February 12, 2021, at River 
Bend Assisted Living in Great Bend. Donna was born July 4, 1930, in 
Graettinger, Iowa to Melvin and Verna (Allen) Bratrud. She was united in
 marriage to Gaylord Dean Olsen on August 22, 1949, at Blakjer Lutheran 
Church in Palo Alto, County, Iowa. He passed away October 31, 2014.

Donna has been a resident of Great Bend since 2004 coming from 
Graettinger, Iowa, to be close to her daughters. She was a member of 
Trinity Lutheran Church. Donna enjoyed spending time with her family.

Survivors include two sons Danny Lee Olsen and wife Vickie of Des 
Moines, Iowa and Mark Allen Olsen and wife Cheryl of Atlanta, Georgia; 
two daughters, Diane Kay Olsen and Coleen Mossberg both of Great Bend; 
one brother Alan Bratrud of Jackson, Minnesota; one sister Judy Olson of
 Mankato, Minnesota; two grandchildren, Trevor Olsen and Shannon 
Mossberg, and three great grandchildren, Shyanna Kuehler, Sheridan 
Kuehler and Hadley Olsen. She was preceded in death by her parents, 
husband and a sister Marlys Macomber.

There will be no visitation as cremation has taken place. A 
celebration of Life will be held Saturday, 2:00-4:00 p.m. February 20, 
2021 at Kansas Trophy Experience Lodge, 54 SE 10 Rd. Great Bend. 
Memorial service will be held at a later date in Graettinger, Iowa.

Father Ultan Patrick Murphy, 94, passed away February 12, 2021, at 
River Bend Assisted Living, Great Bend. He was born January 6, 1927, in 
Quarrylands, Dunboyne, County Meath, Ireland, to James &amp; Katherine 
(Connolly) Murphy.

He attended Batterstown National School and St. Finian’s College in 
Mullingar and studied philosophy and theology, as a seminarian, at St. 
Peter’s College in Wexford, Ireland, from 1947 to 1953. Father Murphy 
was recruited as a seminarian by the Diocese of Wichita. He was ordained
 into priesthood June 7, 1953, by the Most Rev. James Staunton, bishop 
of Ferns, at St. Peter’s Seminary, Wexford, and offered his First Holy 
Mass in Sts. Peter and Paul Church, Dunboyne.&nbsp; Following his ordination,
 Father Murphy was sent to the newly-established Diocese of Dodge City 
by Bishop Mark K. Carroll with classmates, Fathers Eugene Kenny, Andrew 
McGovern and Kieran Murray.&nbsp;

Father Murphy served as assistant pastor of St. John’s, Hoisington, 
and St. Rose of Lima, Great Bend. His pastorates included: St. Mary Help
 of Christians, Loretto, (1960-65); St. John, Kiowa, (1965-66); St. 
John’s at St. John, with St. Francis Xavier, Seward as a mission 
(1966-1970); Holy Rosary, Medicine Lodge, with St. John, Kiowa (1970-80)
 and St. Ann, Olmitz, with Holy Trinity, Timken (1980-2014).&nbsp; At the 
time of his retirement on Jan. 3, 2014, Father Murphy, then 87, had the 
distinction of being the oldest active Catholic pastor in the Kansas. He
 was resident pastor at Olmitz for 33 years.

He was a 4th Degree Knight of Columbus for the Olmitz Council #2100. 
He was always ready to share a good joke, and enjoyed fellowship with 
friends, golf, horse racing, and in his younger years, long walks. &nbsp;

Survivors include many nieces and nephews, including a special niece,
 Joanie Phelan. He was preceded in death by his parents; his siblings, 
James Murphy, Vincent Murphy, Brendan Murphy, O'Connell Murphy, Eithne 
Sheridan and Rosaleen Shanahan; and a nephew, Con Murphy.

Visitation will be held from Noon to 9:00 p.m., Monday, February 15, 
2021 at Bryant Funeral Home, with Knights of Columbus Rosary and Vigil 
service at 7:00 p.m. Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 10:30

at the Scott County Hospital in Scott City, Kansas.&nbsp; He was born on 
September 30, 1952, in Dodge City, Kansas, the son of Walter L. and 
Sylvia M. Schmidt Yost.&nbsp; A lifetime resident of Scott City, Kansas, he 
worked for the Kansas Department of Transportation for 26 years before 
retiring.

In 1984, he married Ruth Clark in Leoti.  Then in the early 1990's, he met his life partner, Pam Babcock.  She passed away on September 24, 2019, in Hays, Kansas.

Survivors include his Son - Cody &amp; Aubrey Yost of Scott City, 
Kansas, One Sister - Charlotte &amp; Bob Mininger of Hardinsburg, 
Indiana, and Two Grandchildren - Owen Yost and Alyssa Yost of Scott 
City, Kansas.

He was preceded in death by his Parents, Life Partner - Pam Babcock, and One Sister - Sharon Hughes.

in Logan County Hospital, Oakley. 

He was born July 17th, 1936, in 
Quinter, Ks, to Gabe, and Mary (Engel) Heinrich. He graduated from 
Grinnell High School, in 1954, and served in the U.S. Army from 
1955-1957. He married Delores Meerian, on August 23, 1958, in St. Joseph
 Catholic Church. 

Leroy served as the Mayor of Oakley, from 1977-1985, 
and was a board member of various organizations, including St. Joseph 
Catholic Church, Knights of Columbus, VFW, Chamber of Commerce, City 
Council, and Oakley Country Club. He owned and operated Northwest 
Furniture and Floor Covering, from 1964-2000. He also owned a furniture 
store in Scott City, and a decorating center, in Colby. He was a real 
estate agent, and Broker, and owned and operated Western Realty. He 
owned the Palace Theater, Oakley Lanes, and multiple buildings, 
downtown. He was responsible for persuading Sonic, and Pizza Hut to 
operate, in the city. 

He enjoyed golfing, bowling, baseball, and flying.
 He owned a Cessna single engine plane. He bowled four perfect games, 
and held the course record of 31, at the Oakley Country Club. He was an 
avid baseball fan, was a pitcher in the Army, and was extended an 
invitation, to try out with the St. Louis Browns. 
Leroy valued honesty, and integrity, above all else. 
Visitation is 4-6 p.m. Friday, February 12, 2021, at St. Joseph Catholic
 Church, Oakley, with a Vigil at 6:00 p.m. Funeral Mass is 10:00 a.m.

Michael Gordon Cavenee

Franklin Keana Opunui, age 84, passed away peacefully on Thursday, 
January 7, 2021, at the Parklane Nursing Home in Scott City, Kansas. He 
was born on November 3, 1936, in Maui, Hawaii, the son of John Likua 
Opunui and Mary Ellen Elaina Huihui. He was a resident of Dighton Kansas
 since 1979, after moving from Junction City, Kansas. He worked for 
Sprint and United telephone companies and retired in 1986.

Franklin was a member of the Mormon church and a member of the 
American Legion. From 1953 until 1976, he served in the United States 
Army as an Aircraft mechanic &amp; Repairman and instructor.

Franklin earned numerous awards; the Bronze Star Medal, Air Medal, 
Army Commendation Medal, Good Conduct medal, Master Aircraft crewman 
badge, Vietnam campaign medal with 60 device, five oversea service bars,
 National defense, Service medal 1st Oak Leaf Cluster, Republic of 
Vietnam Cross of Gallantry with Palm. During his time in service, 
Franklin served in Vietnam, Korea, Germany, France, and Thailand. At the
 time of his release, he had earned the rank of Sergeant E7 and most 
proud of staying alive.

On September 6, 1982, Franklin married Nancy Zelfer in Ness City, Kansas. She survives and lives in Dighton, Kansas.&nbsp;

Franklin was preceded in death by his parents and one daughter.

Memorial services will be held at a later time.

Donald Vincent Zink, 81, passed away February 10, 2021, at Clara 
Barton Hospital, Hoisington.&nbsp; He was born December 17, 1939, in 
Hutchinson, to Anton J. and Evelyn J. (Vincent) Zink.&nbsp; Donald married 
Beverly Joan Lichter July 23, 1960, in Olmitz.&nbsp; She died March 20, 2016.

A long-time resident of Claflin and a veteran of the U.S. Army, 
Donald was an electronic technician for various industries, retiring 
from U.S.D. 354.&nbsp; He was a member of Immaculate Conception Catholic 
Church, Claflin, where he was involved in religious education and served
 as a Eucharistic Minister and lector.&nbsp; “The Voice of the Wildcats”, as 
Donald was known, enjoyed gardening, baking pies, cheesecake and bread. 
Civically, he had previously served as municipal judge for Claflin.&nbsp; 
Above all, his devotion was to his family, especially enjoying time with
 his children and grandchildren.&nbsp; &nbsp;

Survivors include two sons, Daniel Zink and wife Melanie of 
Ellinwood, and Mark A. Zink of Salina; three daughters, Susan R. Zink of
 Lindsborg, Janet M. Klug and husband Kent of Overland Park, and Joni M.
 Haines and husband Don of Great Bend; six brothers, Thomas Zink of

Donald Vincent Zink

Coralie Jeannine Button, 92, passed away February 10, 2021, at Salina
 Regional Health Center. She was born January 2, 1929, at Bazine, to Leo
 &amp; Anna (Cornelssen) Niedens. She married Robert “Bob” Button April 
21, 1999. He died October 30, 2020.

A Great Bend resident since 1968, Coralie was a second grade teacher 
for USD 428 at Washington and EE Morrison Elementary Schools. She was a 
member of Trinity Lutheran Church, BCAC board member, Sigma Alpha Iota 
and Delta Kappa Gamma Parnussus. Coralie enjoyed quilting and was a 
wonderful cook. She especially loved spending time with her family.

Survivors include, a son, Steven Murphy of Great Bend; a daughter, 
Kathleen Asher of Derby; a sister, Marjorie Miller; three grandchildren,
 Amanda Pfenninger and husband Scott, Taylor Murphy and Will Asher; two 
great grandchildren, Liam Pfenninger and Owen Pfenninger; two stepsons, 
Robert "Rob" Button and wife RoAnn and Randy Button and wife Renee, all 
of Great Bend; two stepdaughters, Debra Sue Hill and husband Bill of 
Bountiful, Utah, and Judy VonFeldt and husband Jim of Larned; ten step

Jerome L. Laurin

Marietta Legleiter Walker passed away on a sunny winter afternoon, January 21, 2021, in the loving presence of her husband and children. The cause of her death was bacterial pneumonia. She was 90 years old. 

Marietta was born in western Kansas, on October 14, 1930. A prodigy in accounting, she was hired by local businesses while still in high school. She then went to attain her college degree in business at Fort Hays State University. It was there, at the 1949 freshmen mixer, where she met the love of her life, Richard. After a courtship that included driving to Big Band concerts in Richard's 1947 convertible Studebaker Champion, they wed in 1952, and started their family soon thereafter. They eventually moved to Minneapolis in 1967, where Richard had been promoted to a senior executive position in a national retail company, while Marietta continued investing and managing her own portfolio. 

In 1978, they undertook an opportunity to acquire the La Crosse Furniture Company. Marietta led its design team, and together she and Richard thrived as business partners over the next 20 years. Marietta was an insatiable reader and attentive birdwatcher, feeding her cardinals through the winter and hummingbirds through the summer. Her wit and spark were contagious. 

She was an ace bridge player and avid Twins baseball fan. She loved music, enjoying season tickets at Orchestra Hall concerts for over fifty years. She and Richard were active in their parish, St. Margaret Mary Catholic Church in Golden Valley, Minnesota, leading its adult religious education programs. Among their numerous international trips, their most cherished one was to the Holy Land with their life-long friend and spiritual guide, Archbishop Robert Carlson, of St. Louis. 

Marietta is survived by her devoted husband of 68 years, Richard. She is also survived by her four children Randall (Patricia), Stan, Michelle Skudlarek (Richard, deceased), and Kevin (Alice), as well as six grandchildren: Sophia, Gregory, Kip, Ellie, Ryan and Margaret. Marietta is also survived by her brother Rudy (Maralyn) Legleiter, sisters Margaret Hamilton and Bernadette Oelkers, sisters-in-law Mary Ann Legleiter &amp; Maureen Legleiter, as well as many nephews, nieces, cousins, other inlaws and friends. 

She was preceded in death by her parents Frank and Lidwina, her brothers Gilbert, Francis, Jules, Paul, Greg and Gene, and her Goddaughter, Stephanie Legleiter Adams. 

Marietta was immensely proud of her daughter Michelle, an award-winning editor, her sons, all physicians, and all her grandchildren. She was happiest when the entire clan was together, especially at the family lake home in Northern Wisconsin. 

She had a deep faith, praying the rosary daily, and lived by the teachings of St. Paul, "Fill your minds with those things that are true, noble, right, pure, lovely, and honorable." Most of all, Marietta was loving and was well-loved. And though she will be deeply missed, she will live on in the lives of those who knew and loved her, and in the divine peace that is far beyond human understanding. 

After a small family service, Marietta will be laid to rest at Lakewood Cemetery in Minneapolis. A special service to celebrate her life will be announced after the pandemic has subsided, in the spring. Marietta Legleiter Walker

Thomas Virgil Phelan passed away on Friday, January 22, 2021, at John C. Lincoln Memorial Hospital in Phoenix, Arizona, at the age of 69. 

He was born on November 19, 1951, in Great Bend, Kansas. A Midwestern man at heart, he grew up in the small town of Holyrood, Kansas, and attended Holyrood Rural High School, Barton County Community College, Fort Hays State University and Emporia State University. 

In his younger years, he worked for Air Midwest, Inc. and had the opportunity to travel the globe but loved Kansas most of all. A creative thinker and entrepreneur, Tom conceptualized, founded and operated Plum Creek Kennel with his brothers, Mark and John Phelan and friend Dave Robinette. He was a free spirit and his adventures have become family legends. 

In 2007, Tom moved to Phoenix, Arizona. A proud father and grandfather, he spent his later years supporting his grandchildren from the sidelines of all their sporting events and never turned down the opportunity to babysit. 

Tom is loved and adored by his daughter Tess, son-in-law Spencer and their children, Harper, Quinn and Arie Chupinsky and son Cody, daughter-in-law Lauren and their children Mya, Brooklyn and Parker Phelan. He is also survived by his sister Rita McCarthy and brothers, Patrick, Dennis, Mark and John Phelan, devoted friend Debbie Hughes and 14 nieces and nephews and their families.

Paul Ellsworth David, 79, of Russell, Kansas, passed away Tuesday 
morning, February 2, 2021, at the Russell Regional Hospital in Russell.

Paul was born April 7, 1941, in Holdrege, Nebraska.&nbsp; He was one of 
thirteen children born to Everett and Retha B. (Geer) David.&nbsp; He grew up
 in Holdrege and Phelps County, Nebraska and graduated from Loomis High 
School in the Class of 1958.

Paul served his country in the U.S. Army as Military Police at Ft. 
Benning, Georgia. After his service was completed, he lived in Denver, 
Colorado a few years before moving to Loomis, NE to work on the family 
farm.

Paul was united in marriage to Patricia Marie Stranberg on June 14, 
1969, in Hamilton County, Nebraska.&nbsp; This union was blessed with four 
children: Penny, Paula, Pepper and Preston.&nbsp; They made their home in 
Holdrege, Minden, Stromsburg, and Osceola, Nebraska before moving to 
Long Island, Kansas. After his retirement they moved to Russell in 2008,
 to be closer to children and grandchildren.

Paul was a farmer. While he worked many other jobs from tire repair 
to aviation parts manufacturing, his heart was on the farm. He spent his
 last 20+ working years in the employ of Valley View Farms doing what he
 loved. He was a member of the Russell American Legion Post #99 and the 
Osceola, Nebraska Masonic Lodge. He enjoyed politics, coin collecting, 
and taking care of his yard and garden.&nbsp; His family, his wife, children 
and grandchildren, were the most important part of his life.

Paul’s surviving family include his wife of 51 years, Patricia of the
 home; two daughters, Penny Davis (Tim) of Hays, Kansas and Paula North 
(Heath) of McCracken, Kansas; two sons, Pepper David (Connie) of Topeka,
 Kansas and Preston David of Norton, Kansas; four brothers, Dwayne David
 (Donna) of Newark, Ohio, Johnnie David (Harriett) of Longmont, 
Colorado, Larry David (Cindy) of Stromsburg, Nebraska and Michael David 
(Trish) of Holdrege, Nebraska; five sisters, Elaine Schell of Holdrege, 
Nebraska, Bonita Sturgis (Evert) of Axtell, Nebraska, Mary Johnson 
(Edward) of Alma, Missouri, Retha Jo Luttrell of Ft. Collins, Colorado 
and Peggy Piepenbrock (Eric) of Phoenix, Arizona. He also leaves nine 
dearly loved grandchildren, Brandon North, Alex Davis, Sydney Davis, 
Logan North, Reid David, Carson North, Chase David, Peyton David and 
Conner David.

Paul was preceded in death by his parents and three brothers, Richard David, Ronald David, and Roger David.

A Memorial Service will be held at Congregational Church in Almena, 
Kansas on at a later date. Cremation has taken place and no visitation will be held. A private 
family service will be held at Bainbridge Cemetery in Harlan County, 
Nebraska. Condolences may be sent to Pohlman-Varner-Peeler Mortuary, who
 oversees these arrangements.

thirteen children born to Everett and Retha B. (Geer) David.&nbsp; He grew up
 in Holdrege and Phelps County, Nebraska and graduated from Loomis High 
School in the Class of 1958.Paul served his country in the U.S. Army as Military Police at Ft. 
Benning, Georgia. After his service was completed, he lived in Denver, 
Colorado a few years before moving to Loomis, NE to work on the family

Paul Ellsworth David

Marcia Ann Seirer, 61, passed away on February 5, 2021, at her home in Salina, KS. 

On April 13, 1959, Marcia was born in Hays, KS to her parents Fidelis and Ileen Ruder. She attended Hays High School before going to Barton Community College to get her associate's degree for her ambitions as a Dietary Manager. Marcia cooked for Kennedy Middle School and Good Samaritan. She loved video games, card games and talking with her family.

Marcia was preceded in death by her parents and her sister, Geraldine Wittman.

Survivors include her brother, John (Michelle) Ruder of Mulvane; her sister, Melissa (Craig) Irwin of Hays; 2 sons, Brandon Ruder and Shane Seirer of Salina; 7 nephews; 2 nieces; 6 greatnephews; and 11 great nieces.&nbsp;
