Allen "Al" Dale Kiser, 89, Dodge City, was born September 12, 1932, in
 Beloit, Kansas during the days of the Great Depression, and died 
November 30, 2021, at SunPorch of Dodge City under the care of Hospice of
 the Prairie in Dodge City.

Al served in the U.S. Navy from 1951 to 1955 during the Korean Conflict on the USS Hamul as a Printer 2nd Class.

That was the beginning of his 35-year career as a printer and 
newspaper Linotype operator in several locales, including the Salina 
Journal. For a time, he was the owner and publisher of the Protection 
Post.

Al then took his mechanical skills to Dodge City USD #443 where he 
worked 15 years as a building engineer and school janitor, retiring in 
1995.

He was preceded in death by his parents Dale B. Kiser and Rhama&nbsp;(Marie)&nbsp;B. Vangilder Kiser, and his sister Dana J. Long and brother-in-law William (Bill) L. Long.

Al is survived by his children Becky Kiser, Hays, Eric Kiser, 
Wichita, and Kathy Wilkerson and husband Jack, Dodge City. He also has 
four granddaughters, Megan, Katie, Bridgette, and Vittoria; four 
great-grandchildren, Carter, Maddox, Carter, and Grace; nephew Dale W. 
Long (Kelli) and many other nieces and nephews.

Cremation arrangements were conducted by Swaim Funeral Chapel of 
Dodge City. As per his wishes, there will be no visitation or memorial 
service. Inurnment will be in Maple Grove Cemetery in Dodge City. The 
family extends their gratitude and thanks to the SunPorch staff who took
 great care of Al in their facility the past two years.

Johnny Lee “John” Ireland, age 72 of 
Hays, Kansas passed away Tuesday, October 12, 2021 at Hays Medical 
Center. He was born September 3, 1949 in Concordia, Kansas to John A. 
and Marjorie F. (Beaushaw) Ireland.

John graduated from Natoma High School 
in 1967. Played football at Butler County Community College, and later 
graduated from Fort Hays State.

John worked for several companies in 
sales positions throughout his career. They included Baker Oilfield 
Tools, RayBestos, Standard Automotive, and Crawford Supply. John was a 
veteran of the US Air Force serving during the Vietnam Era and taught 
for the SERE program at Fairchild AFB. He enjoyed Golf and was a 
long-time member of Smoky Hill Country Club in Hays as well as an avid 
K-State football fan.

John is survived by a son, Tanner 
Ireland of Ohio; a step daughter , Sara Sharpe of Hays; a step son, 
Scott Sharpe of Topeka, KS ; a brother, Gregg Ireland and wife Carol of 
Topeka; and two nieces, Jackie Ireland of Wichita and Jessie Ireland of 
Topeka.

John was preceded in death by his parents and Nephew Ezekiel Ireland.

Johnny Lee 'John' Ireland

Merle Dean Hargitt was born December 10, 1929. He graduated with the 
Class of 1947 from Quinter High School.&nbsp;On May 25, 1950, Merle was 
united in marriage to Dotty Marie Taylor and together they enjoyed more 
than 71 years of marriage. After 91 years of life, he made his 
transition to glory the 22nd&nbsp;day of November 2021.&nbsp;

Raised on the family farm, Merle loved the land and got special joy 
helping his father, brother, sons, and grandsons, especially during 
harvest. One of the special moments of his life was when the Hargitt 
farm, purchased in 1898, was recognized by the Kansas Farm Bureau as a 
Century Farm.

Merle was a life-long learner. There was no mechanical, electrical, 
heating, or air conditioning problem “Mr. Fix It” could not solve—for 
his family, friends, acquaintances, and customers. He was known for his 
gentle heart, his infectious smile, for “giving the best hugs ever”, his
 willingness to help, his love of people, and an everlasting optimism 
that made the world a better place.

First and foremost, Merle loved God and out of that flowed his love 
of family and neighbor. He took great pride in each child, grandchild, 
and great-grandchild. If asked for his opinion, he would offer it with 
kindness. Occasionally, when he felt strongly that someone he loved was 
making a significant error in judgement “Dad/Grandpa Merle” would go 
directly to that person and communicate his concern in a way that rarely
 caused offense and often provided a constructive course correction.

Merle was a life-long member of Quinter United Methodist Church. He 
loved music and singing. He served in every capacity asked of him by the
 Pastor, the United Methodist Men, and others. With Dotty, Merle was a 
frequent sponsor for the church youth group mission trips and together 
they served as custodians of the QUMC for 54 years. In addition, Merle 
represented his local church at the Kansas West Annual Conference. He 
had a way of making people feel respected and valued—even if their views
 might differ from his own—because he listened thoughtfully and cared 
genuinely.

Service to the Quinter community included Merle’s time as mayor, 
years of participation in the Kiwanis Club, taking tickets at school 
sporting events, and treasurer of the Quinter Community Service Club.

Merle is preceded in death by his parents, Mildred and Thomas 
Hargitt; his brothers, Glenn and George Hargitt; and his son, Roy Dean 
Hargitt.

Merle is survived by his wife, Dotty Hargitt, his sisters, Marjorie 
Moos (Charlie) of Grinnell and Joan McCormick (Mike) of Lyons, KS.; 
sister-in-law Mary Ann McConnell of Omaha; brother-in-law “Tate” Taylor 
(LeMer) of Littleton, CO; his daughters Maryle Albin (Tom) of Hermitage,
 TN; Mona Stewart (Tom) of Quinter, Randall Hargitt (Rita) of Quinter, 
Wendall Hargitt (Gina) of Quinter; Neil Hargitt (JoEva) of Arnold, KS; 
daughter-in-law Nadine Hargitt (Roy) of Quinter; and 20 grandchildren, 
34 great-grandchildren, 9 step-grand and great-grandchildren plus 
numerous nieces and nephews.

He will be dearly missed by his family and friends—they will go 
forward with the loving legacy he left behind and continue to feel his 
presence in their lives.

Ronald “Ron” Lowry went to meet Jesus on December 2, 2021, in Salina, 
Kansas. His transition to the other side was peaceful. Ron told many 
people, “if I live I will win, if I don’t I will win. When I die I will 
win, who could ask for more than a win, win situation." Ron served rural churches in central and western Kansas as a United 
Methodist Ordained Minister. Ron having grown up on a farm north of 
Abilene loved the rural community people. He could be heard saying the 
ladies of rural Kansas are the best cooks. He also said he had not met a
 pie he did not like.
 Ron was born January 16, 1944, in Abilene, Kansas, to Delbert L. Lowry
 and Tabitha N. Davidson. Ron attended Friends University and Phillips 
University where he received his Masters of Divinity.
 Ron has many friends and many interests such as ham radio, 
electronics, creating lighted Christmas decorations and being a ball 
point pen maker. Ron said turning 308 shell cartridges into writing pens
 was like turning a sword into plow shares.
 Ron is survived by his wife, Sheron and their son Bennett of Wilson,
 KS; two step-sons, Shawn (Sheryl) Batt of Wichita, KS and Shane (Rosa) 
Batt of Cyprus, KS; one sister, Judy Adee; and many other family members
 that include two grandsons, Scott (Kiri) Batt of Wichita, KS, and 
Shelby (Leah) Batt of Wichita, KS. Ron has six great-grandchildren and 
loved to hear of their interests and to make them laugh.
 A Funeral Service will be held on Wednesday, December 8, 2021 at the
 Lucas United Methodist Church at 1 PM. Graveside will be held at 4PM at
 the Sterling Community Cemetery in Sterling, Kansas. Visitation will be

In the early 1990’s he married Tonia Cockerill in Scott City, 
Kansas.&nbsp; She passed away on August 7, 2010, in Hays, Kansas.&nbsp; He later 
married Carolyn Johnson in the late 1990's.&nbsp; She passed away on October 
8, 2009, in Scott City, Kansas.

Survivors include his One Son - Chance Smith of Scott City, Kansas, 
Three Brothers -&nbsp; Mike Smith of Scott City, Kansas, Mark Smith &amp;

Craig A. Smith

James Monroe “Jim” Cornwell Sr., died December 2, 2021, at his home 
in Hoisington.&nbsp; He was born August 24, 1938, in Sharon, Kansas, the son 
of Newton M. and Esther S. (Gillig) Cornwell.&nbsp; Jim was a 1956 graduate 
of Kiowa High School, Kiowa, Kansas.

On June 14, 1958 he married Jannette L. “Jan” Harris in Kiowa, Kansas.&nbsp; She preceded him in death on November 20, 2007.

A longtime Hoisington resident, Jim worked for the Telephone Company 
for over 40 years, reitirng as a Network Technician. He was a member of 
First United Methodist Church of Hoisington, the Hoisington and Great 
Bend Archery Clubs, and Hoisington Historical Society.

He is survived by two sons, James Monroe “Bo” Cornwell, Jr. and wife 
Kim of Mt. Cory, Ohio, and Brett M. Cornwell and wife Crystal of 
Hollister, Missouri; two daughters, Terri Szendrodi of Hoisington, and 
Sherri Jackson and husband Danny of Hill City; two brothers, Charles 
Cornwell of Springdale, Arkansas, and Donald Cornwell of Tijares, New 
Mexico; a sister-in-law, Asa Cornwell of Springdale, Arkansas; 13 
grandchildren, 14 great-grandchildren, and 1 great-great-grandchild.

He was preceded in death by his parents, wife, and a brother, Larry Cornwell.

Patricia L. Hassman, 69, passed away November 26, 2021, at her home, Larned.

She was born April 17, 1952, in McPherson; the daughter of Irvan John 
and Jean Louise Sitts Hassman. A longtime area resident; she was head 
of the HR dept at the Larned Correctional Mental Health Facility.

She was a member of the First Christian Church, Great Bend, Prairie Arts Unlimited and the Larned Music Club, both of Larned.&nbsp;

Survivors include; many cousins and friends.

She was born December 5, 1950, in Tuscaloosa, Alabama to Thomas Amon 
and Alice Frances (Ropeter) Mallory.&nbsp; She married Sylvester Hecky then 
later married Robert Kurup, and they both preceded her in death.&nbsp;

She was sales representative and computer technician for N.E.W. and 
Direct TV.&nbsp; She grew up and attended high school in California.&nbsp; She 
moved to Russell in 2000 and then later moved to Hays, she retired in 
2016.&nbsp; She enjoyed arts and crafts, going fishing, and always had a love
 for animals.&nbsp; Most of all she loved her grandchildren, family, and spending time with them.&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;

Survivors include her children, Jacob Kurup and wife, Kristin, Russell;

Gayle Lynn Hecky-Kurup

Merle Dean Hargitt was born December 10, 1929. He graduated with the Class of 1947 from Quinter High School.&nbsp;On May 25, 1950, Merle was united in marriage to Dotty Marie Taylor and together they enjoyed more than 71 years of marriage. After 91 years of life, he made his transition to glory the 22nd&nbsp;day of November 2021.&nbsp;

Raised on the family farm, Merle loved the land and got special joy helping his father, brother, sons, and grandsons, especially during harvest. One of the special moments of his life was when the Hargitt farm, purchased in 1898, was recognized by the Kansas Farm Bureau as a Century Farm.

Merle was a life-long learner. There was no mechanical, electrical, heating, or air conditioning problem “Mr. Fix It” could not solve—for his family, friends, acquaintances, and customers. He was known for his gentle heart, his infectious smile, for “giving the best hugs ever”, his willingness to help, his love of people, and an everlasting optimism that made the world a better place.&nbsp;

First and foremost, Merle loved God and out of that flowed his love of family and neighbor. He took great pride in each child, grandchild, and great-grandchild. If asked for his opinion, he would offer it with kindness. Occasionally, when he felt strongly that someone he loved was making a significant error in judgement “Dad/Grandpa Merle” would go directly to that person and communicate his concern in a way that rarely caused offense and often provided a constructive course correction.

Merle was a life-long member of Quinter United Methodist Church. He loved music and singing. He served in every capacity asked of him by the Pastor, the United Methodist Men, and others. With Dotty, Merle was a frequent sponsor for the church youth group mission trips and together they served as custodians of the QUMC for 54 years. In addition, Merle represented his local church at the Kansas West Annual Conference. He had a way of making people feel respected and valued—even if their views might differ from his own—because he listened thoughtfully and cared genuinely.

Service to the Quinter community included Merle’s time as mayor, years of participation in the Kiwanis Club, taking tickets at school sporting events, and treasurer of the Quinter Community Service Club.

Merle is preceded in death by his parents, Mildred and Thomas Hargitt; his brothers, Glenn and George Hargitt; and his son, Roy Dean Hargitt.&nbsp;

Merle is survived by his wife, Dotty Hargitt, his sisters, Marjorie Moos (Charlie) of Grinnell and Joan McCormick (Mike) of Lyons, KS.; sister-in-law Mary Ann McConnell of Omaha; brother-in-law “Tate” Taylor (LeMer) of Littleton, CO; his daughters Maryle Albin (Tom) of Hermitage, TN; Mona Stewart (Tom) of Quinter, Randall Hargitt (Rita) of Quinter, Wendall Hargitt (Gina) of Quinter; Neil Hargitt (JoEva) of Arnold, KS; daughter-in-law Nadine Hargitt (Roy) of Quinter; and 20 grandchildren, 34 great-grandchildren, 9 step-grand and great-grandchildren plus numerous nieces and nephews.

He will be dearly missed by his family and friends—they will go forward with the loving legacy he left behind and continue to feel his presence in their lives.

Paul Oren Davis was born at the Norton County Hospital in Norton, Kansas on March 27, 1946, and died at the University of Kansas Medical Center in Kansas City, Kansas on November 26, 2021. &nbsp;

He graduated from Almena Rural High School in 1964 and joined his father on the family farm.&nbsp; He married Peggy Sue Davis (Anderson) on June 12, 1966. The couple had four children and took over the family farm from his parents. He was a lifelong farmer and rancher.

He is survived by his wife Peggy Sue Davis (Anderson); four children, Tisha Sue Morrical (Davis) of Lindsborg, Kansas; Timothy Oren Davis and his wife Penny of Hays, Kansas; Theodore Clay Davis and his wife Farrah May of Prairie View, Kansas; and Thad Albert Davis of Portland Oregon; eleven grandchildren, Damien Charles Davis (Kylie), Hayley Erin Samford (Luke), Hannah Marie Morrical, Skylar Nicole Denny (Jeremy), Alexander Oren Davis (Sarah), Sydney Marie Davis, Tate Jessie (TJ) Morrical, Arianna Mae Davis, Alleiah Faye Davis, Amelia Sue Davis, and Allysandra Elva Davis; one great grandson, Barrett Clay Davis; and his sister, Linda Lucile Malcolm and her husband Donald,

Lloyd Elmer Woodard

Beulah Mae Beadles, 95, passed away December 1, 2021, at Medicalodges
 in Great Bend. She was born on a farm near Eakly, Oklahoma on March 5, 
1926. She was the eighth and youngest child of the Reverend Luther W. 
and Jessie Mae (Brisendine) Skaggs. She married Carl Beadles in Custer 
City, Oklahoma on July 22, 1947.

Left to honor her memory are her two sons, Lonnie (Charisse) and 
Kenney; four grandchildren; and seven great grandchildren. Those who 
have gone on before to make a place for Beulah include her parents; her 
husband Carl; six brothers, Lewis Skaggs, Floyd Skaggs, Eugene Skaggs, 
Leslie Skaggs, Luther W. Skaggs, Jr., and Calvin Skaggs; and a sister, 
Gladys (Skaggs) Davidson.

Growing up on a cotton farm in Caddo County, Oklahoma, Beulah began 
the difficult job of picking cotton by hand, milking cows and feeding 
livestock at an early age. Almost six feet tall, she played center on 
the Eakly, Oklahoma high school girls’ basketball team in the early 
1940’s. She helped lead the Eakly girl’s team to a district championship
 in 1943.&nbsp;

Beulah was a homemaker until her sons were old enough to go to 
school. That’s when she found the career she loved. She worked in the 
EKG/EEG Department at the Central Kansas Medical Center for more than 20
 years. Her professionalism and compassion for patients made her an 
important part of the CKMC medical team.

Beulah was a den mother with Pack 184 (sponsored by Trinity Lutheran 
Church), Sunday school teacher at First United Methodist Church in Great
 Bend, member of the Washington Elementary School PTA, American Legion 
Auxiliary, and Foundry Methodist Church.

During her retirement, she especially enjoyed the many trips to the 
Wichita Community Theatre, Branson and many other locations host by Mary
 Bender at the UMB Bank (now Landmark Bank). She also enjoyed helping 
with many projects at Foundry Methodist Church. Although an Oklahoma 
native, she became an ardent fan of the Kansas University men’s and 
women’s basketball teams. She loved the people of Great Bend and Barton 
County and felt she was fortunate to spend most of her life in the 
Golden Belt.

For the past several years, she suffered from crippling arthritis and
 many other ailments. It is a comfort to her family and her friends to 
know that she was healed Monday night in the presence of her Savior.

Visitation will be held from Noon to 8:00 p.m., Tuesday, December 7, 
2021, at Bryant Funeral Home. Funeral services will be at 10:30 a.m., 
Wednesday, December 8, 2021, at Bryant Funeral Home, with Pastor Aaron 
Withrow presiding. Interment will be in the Great Bend Cemetery. 
Memorials have been designated to Foundry Methodist Church, in care of 
Bryant Funeral Home.

Joann J. Fouse, age 85, passed away on Saturday, November 27, 2021, 
at the Ranch House in Garden City, Kansas.&nbsp; She was born on October 11, 
1936, in Chicago, Illinois, the daughter of Joe &amp; Ruby Nordstrom 
Stoeckel. &nbsp;On December 23, 1954, she married Warren L. Fouse in Clay 
Center, Kansas. &nbsp;He passed away on March 2, 1993, in Garden City, 
Kansas. &nbsp;A resident of Garden City, Kansas since 1960 moving from 
Cunningham, Kansas, she was a former sales clerk for Books Etc.

She was a member of the First Presbyterian Church in Garden City, 
Kansas, Presbyterian Mariners, and the GCCC Faculty Wives.&nbsp; Jo’s 
greatest love was spending time with her family.&nbsp; She also enjoyed 
singing in the church choir and helping with the church rummage sale for
 many years

In her later years, she sang with M&amp;M + 1 at various nursing 
homes, senior centers, and retirement homes in the area.&nbsp; Jo and Max 
Moomaw even sang at the Pickin’ on the Plains Bluegrass Festival in 
Colby, KS.&nbsp; Jo loved to dance, as well as read, travel, and watch 
sports.&nbsp; She always knew how to make people feel special and didn’t know
 a stranger.&nbsp; Grandma Jo was loved by everyone she came in contact with 
and will be greatly missed by all.

Survivors include her Two Sons - Dennis &amp; Donna Fouse of 
Centerton, Arkansas, Dick &amp; Liesa Fouse of Waukesha, Wisconsin, Two 
Daughters - Pat Roth of Garden City, Kansas, Susan &amp; Brad Bier of 
Palmyra, Missouri, Twelve Grandchildren, and Thirteen Great 
Grandchildren.

She is preceded in death by her Parents, Husband, Stepfather - 
Charles Shaple, One Sister - Ida Mae Forrester, One Son In Law - Ron 
Roth, and One Daughter In Law - Belinda Fouse.

Funeral Services will be held at 2:00 p.m. Wednesday, December 1, 
2021, at United Presbyterian Church in Garden City, Kansas with Pastor

Joann J. Fouse

Verna Lou (Kinlund) Harris, 93, passed away Thanksgiving morning, 
November 25th at the Greeley County Long Term Care facility in Tribune, 
Kansas.&nbsp; Verna was born on April 15,1928 at their home near Geuda 
Springs, Kansas, the daughter of Harold E. Kinlund and Georgia Lawson 
Kinlund.&nbsp; She has been a resident of Greeley County since her sophomore 
year of high school.&nbsp;&nbsp;

Verna married Charles William Harris on December 18th, 1946.&nbsp; They 
enjoyed 67 years of marriage and were blessed with three children, Greg,
 Clark, and Jill. Verna cherished her large extended family and her 
close relationships with her siblings, Arlyss, Ella, twin brothers Nat 
and Neal and twin sister Vivian.&nbsp; She also had many special nieces, 
nephews, and cousins who enriched her life.

Verna treasured her Tribune community.&nbsp; She had a rich social network
 of friends and activities that added to a fulfilling life in Greeley 
County.&nbsp; Of special note are numerous community groups including dance 
and bridge clubs, local ladies tennis gatherings, historical society, 
extension unit events and her lifelong commitment to the Tribune United 
Methodist Church.&nbsp; In addition, she lent much support to her children’s 
activities which included 4-H, band, boy scouts, FFA, and their 
involvement in many Tribune Jackrabbit sports teams.&nbsp; Verna was an avid 
fan of the K-State Wildcats, the Kansas City Chiefs and the Kansas City 
Royals.&nbsp;

As well as running the household business, Verna was an active 
partner in the Harris Farm &amp; Ranch operation keeping the books and 
paying the bills.&nbsp; She was depended upon to pick up and deliver vital 
farm repairs. Verna provided a ferry service for the farm making sure 
that people, trucks, food, and machinery parts were where they were 
needed.&nbsp; In a time before cell phones, Verna was the dispatch operator 
for the farm business band radio.&nbsp;

Verna and Charles enjoyed many years of boating and water skiing with
 their children and many friends including the Waggoners, Johns, 
Sawyers, Griffins, Engles, Wineingers, Kinlunds, Smiths and Gentrys.&nbsp; 
Later the grandchildren joined them in their boating and water skiing 
family tradition.&nbsp;

Verna is survived by two children, Clark Harris (Barbara) Tribune, 
Jill Pollock (David) Wilmington, NC.&nbsp; Verna was a wonderful grandma to 
three very special grandchildren: Clinton Harris (Joanna) Annandale, VA,
 Evan Scott-Pollock (Julie-Ann) Wilmington, NC, Rachel Pollock, 
Lynchburg, VA, and step-grandchildren Kurt Newell (Jennifer) Waterbury, 
CT and Lisa Newell, Bratleboro, VT.&nbsp; Verna doted on her 
great-grandchildren Charles Mac and Graham Harris, Tony, Vinny, Nico, 
and Theo Scott-Pollock, and Ian and Trey Newell.&nbsp; Verna is also survived
 by twin brothers Nat Kinlund (Diane), Longmont, CO and&nbsp; Neal Kinlund, 
San Marcos, TX, and sister-in-law Mary Lou Kinlund, Tribune.

Verna was preceded in death by her husband Charles, parents Harold 
and Georgia Kinlund, son Greg, mother and father-in-law Robert and 
Goldia Harris, brother Arlyss Kinlund, twin sister Vivian Engle and 
brother-in-law Russell Engle, sister Ella Griffin and brother-in-law 
Lyle Griffin, sister-in-law and brother-in-law&nbsp; Wilma (Harris) and Bart 
Brunswig, sister-in-law Becky Kinlund and grandson Phillip Pollock.

A small private family celebration of life will be held at the 
Tribune United Methodist Church followed by a public graveside service 
at the Greeley County Cemetery at 2:00 PM MT Saturday, December 11,

Verna Lou (Kinlund) Harris

Ardith Nadine Stones, 91, died Tuesday, November 30, 2021 at Garden 
Valley Retirement Village in Garden City, Kansas. She was born 
September 9, 1930 on the family farm near McDonald, Kansas the daughter 
of Floyd &amp; Letty (Bannister) Craig. 
 Ardith attended schools in McDonald, Kansas where she graduated 
from high school. On May 1, 1949, she married Charles O. Stones in 
McDonald, Kansas. They lived in Bird City, Kansas, St. John, Kansas, 
and Hugoton, Kansas before moving to Garden City in 1973. They have 
lived in Garden City since. A homemaker, Ardith also worked as an 
editor for the Hugoton Hermes while living in Hugoton and after moving 
to Garden City, she worked for many years for the First United Methodist
 Church as Senior Pastor Secretary. Ardith was a member of the First 
United Methodist Church where she served as a Sunday School Teacher. 
She was also a member of the Builders Sunday School Class, Church 
Circle, the God Mothers, Friends of Lee Richardson Zoo, Friends of 
Finney County Library, and served as a Girl Scout Leader for many years 
in both Hugoton and Garden City. She enjoyed spending her time cooking,
 baking, sewing, quilting, crafts, and loved playing board games with 
her grandchildren and great grandchildren. She also loved all animals, 
and as an avid sports fan she loved to watch the Dallas Cowboys and the 
Boston Celtics. 
 Survivors include her husband Charles O. Stones of the home; two 
daughters Judy Steinbrink &amp; husband Rich of Garden City and Gaynelle
 Beasley of Garden City; four grandchildren Brynn Shellenberger &amp; 
husband Jim, Melissa Ridder &amp; husband Alex, Mekayla Petrus &amp; 
husband Dustin, and Britny Sweeney; and six great-grandchildren Keely, 
Kambri, Kaia, Isaiah, Kolby, &amp; Brody. Ardith is preceded in death 
by her parents; a daughter Leaetta Sue Stones; and two sons-in-law 
Donald Ridder and David Beasley. 
 Funeral services will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Friday, December 3, 
2021 at the First United Methodist Church in Garden City with Rev. Joel 
Plisek officiating. Services may also be viewed on Facebook Live the

Ardith Nadine Stones

Jerry Lee Rowe passed away in Lamar, Colorado on November 29, 2021, at 
the age of 83. He was born on May 25, 1938, to Buford and Vera 
(Darbyshire) Rowe in Lamar, Colorado. Jerry was united in marriage to 
Elzana (Thielen) Rowe on September 16, 1969, in St. Michaels, Arizona at
 the Navajo Reservation. The couple raised three children: Craig, 
Edward, and Aaron.
 Jerry grew up in Lamar and graduated from Lamar High School in 1956.
 A few short months after graduating high school, Jerry went into the 
United States Navy. He served for 13 years during the Vietnam war, first
 as a Seabee and later a Corpsman for the Seal team. After his honorable
 discharge he married Elzana, and they lived on the Navajo Reservation. 
He worked as an Optician and taught the natives how to make their own 
glasses. The couple moved to Chicago, Illinois and stayed there for 13 
years until moving to Washington, and then in 2006, they moved to 
Dorrance. Jerry retired when he moved to Kansas and enjoyed his time 
fishing, hunting, working on his 60 ft. garden, and woodworking. Jerry 
enjoyed staying busy, working hard, and getting things done as soon as 
they needed to be done. He was fun loving and enjoyed life with his 
family and friends.
 He is survived by his wife, Elzana Rowe of the home; children, Craig
 Rowe of Dorrance, KS, Edward Rowe of Dorrance, KS, and Aaron Rowe of 
Terre Haute, IN; siblings, Barbara McGee of Lamar, CO, and Harry (Helen)
 Rowe of Walsh, CO; and three grandchildren, Kylie Rowe, Gage Bean, and 
Cash Rowe.
 Jerry is preceded in death by his parents, Buford and Vera Rowe.
 A Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Friday, December 3, 2021,
 at 10:30 AM at the St. Joseph Catholic Church in Dorrance, Kansas. 
There will be no visitation.

Delbert James Moeder at the age of 87 passed away on November 24th, 2021. Born October 27, 1934, in Kansas. 

Delbert is survived by his wife Carol, daughter Cynthia (Roger) Aitken, his brothers John (Dorothy) and Raymond (Linda), and his sister Delores Bongartz. Also his three grandchildren, six great grandchildren, and four great-great grandchildren. 

Delbert was preceded in death by his daughter Norma Lee Carey, His brothers Gary, Bobby, Willard, Sisters Viola and Anita, and parents Chris and Bertha (Schaffer). 

Recitation of the Holy Rosary is set for 8:30 AM Saturday December 4, 2021 with Mass of Christian Burial to follow at St. Rose of Lima Catholic Church in Buena Vista, CO. Interment will take place at Mt. Olivet Cemetery in Buena Vista.

Norman J. Karlin, 93, passed away Sunday, November 28, 2021, at Harry Hynes Memorial Hospice Center in Wichita, KS. 
 Norman was born December 11, 1927 in Catharine, KS, the son of Joseph 
and Mary (Schoendaller) Karlin.&nbsp; He graduated from St. Joseph Military 
Academy in Hays, KS in 1945 and graduated from Salt City Business 
College in 1949 with a degree in accounting.&nbsp; On October 2, 1950, Norman
 married Lucille Biggs at St. Teresa’s Catholic Church in Hutchinson.&nbsp; 
Norman enlisted in the United States Army and was honorably discharged. 
Norman was the owner of Midwest Feed Company for over 43 years. &nbsp;After 
that, he worked for the Kansas State Fair for over 20 years.&nbsp; &nbsp;He was a 
member of St. Teresa’s Catholic Church. He is preceded in death
 by his parents; wife; Lucille; a grandson, Steven Karlin; siblings, 
Mildred Schmeidler, Helen Koester, Rita Mae Befort and Marvin Karlin. 
 Norman is survived by his sons, Calvin (Jan) Karlin and Ronald (Brenda)
 Karlin; sisters, Margie Weishaar and Patty (Elmer) Brungardt; four 
grandchildren, Michael Karlin, Cameron Karlin, Katelin May, and Kristen 
Karlin; five great grandchildren; and many loving and caring nieces and

"Jake" Jacob Joseph Mans, 65, of Osborne, KS, passed away on Sunday, 
November 28, 2021 at his home. &nbsp;He was born on March 13, 1956 to Leonard
 &amp; Rita Ann (Eilert) Mans in Smith Center, KS. &nbsp;Jake was one of 
several &nbsp;children born to Leonard &amp; Rita Mans.

He graduated from Osborne High School in 1974. &nbsp;He attended 2 years 
at Vo-Tech school. &nbsp;He has lived all his life in the Osborne area. &nbsp;He 
was a faithful member of the St. Aloysius Catholic Church &amp; was a 
member of the Knights of Columbus.

Jake married Carla &amp; to this union 3 children were born. &nbsp;Jake &amp; Carla later divorced.

He worked 10 years for the City of Osborne, 3 years for Osborne 
County &amp; before his retirement, he worked at Osborne Industries&nbsp;in 
the Assembly Department.

Jake was preceded in death by his parents.

Jacob 'Jake' Joseph Mans

Nancy Ann (Hickert) Kreutzer, 69, of Overland Park, KS, died on November 28, 2021, of complications from cancer. 
 Nancy was born on July 7, 1952, to Bernard “Barney” and Beatrice 
“Tucky” (Schandler) Hickert of Lenora, KS. In high school, Nancy 
brought excellence to each of her endeavors. She was a cheerleader, 
twirler in the marching band, and valedictorian. When Nancy wasn’t 
caring for her many younger siblings on the family farm, she worked 
part-time at the local diner where she discovered her future husband 
Joe’s interest when he tipped her 50 cents for a 10 cent Coke. 
 After graduating from Lenora High School in 1970, Nancy continued 
her education in Wichita, KS, obtaining a registered nursing degree and 
then an accounting degree from Wichita State University summa cum laude.
 In Wichita, Nancy worked at St. Joseph Medical Center, Koch 
Industries, and most recently for many years as the business manager at 
St. Vincent de Paul Catholic Church of Andover. 
 Nancy married her high school sweetheart and the love of her life 
Joseph “Joe” Kreutzer, on June 1, 1974, in New Almelo, KS. Nancy was 
welcomed with love into the big-hearted, lively, expansive Kreutzer 
family. It was always a party, with everyone welcome, at Nancy and 
Joe’s home in Wichita. Nancy and Joe welcomed their beloved daughter 
Katherine Ann “Kate” on March 20, 1983. Kate brought joy to each day of
 Joe and Nancy’s lives. They treasured every moment until Joe’s 
premature death in 1985. 
 Nancy had an impeccable eye for beauty, decorating her home with 
creativity each holiday and sharing her inspired interior design style 
with her family and friends. She shared a close friendship over many 
decades with a group of dear friends, who met one another via their 
shared love of books. Nancy and her “Book Club Ladies” were true 
blessings in one another’s lives, whether discussing books, solving the 
problems of the world over brunch each Saturday, or decorating community
 homes to raise funds for the Lord’s Diner. She was a lifelong learner 
with varied and expansive interests in nature, art, science, politics, 
literature, and philosophy. 
 With her warmth, easy smile and ready wit, time with Nancy was a joy
 and a gift. Nancy was distinguished by her fearless optimism and 
ability to find beauty, goodness, and something to celebrate in each 
moment and person. Her personal hardships and losses deepened her 
empathy. Her thoughtfulness, kindness and wisdom made each of her 
acquaintances feel understood and loved. 
 Nancy lived in Wichita until moving to Overland Park in 2016, where 
she lavished love and attention on her beautiful granddaughters Maddy 
and Emily. She was an enthusiastic supporter of every aspect of their 
daily lives, from school pickup to the annual Halloween parade to 
special outings for tea, made special with hats for all. She was 
excited to celebrate each of their interests, from completing sudokus 
and “organizing” with Maddy to assisting Emily with Tinkertoys and 
Legos, to chair badminton with both. Nancy had limitless patience with 
her granddaughters, answering all questions with careful consideration 
and wisdom. Nancy also shared her many interests with them, from 
reading to art to nature. When they weren’t able to be physically 
together, Nancy would spend hours reading books to her granddaughters 
over FaceTime - and Nancy always made time for hugs and words of love. 
 Nancy was a beloved daughter, wife, mother, grandmother, sister, 
aunt, and friend. All of her siblings and many extended family were 
with her during her final days. She passed peacefully at sunset, 
surrounded by many who loved her and holding her daughter’s hand.
 Nancy was preceded in death by her husband Joseph “Joe” Kreutzer,

Nancy Ann (Hickert) Kreutzer

Dennis LeRoy Boese, 72, died November 30, 2021, at Clara Barton 
Hospital, Hoisington.&nbsp; He was born September 20, 1949, in LaCrosse, 
Kansas, the son of Wilbert W. and Gwendolyn M. (Norman) Boese. Dennis 
graduated from Hoisington High School.&nbsp; He was a Vietnam veteran serving
 with the United States Marine Corps from 1967- 1969.&nbsp; He later decided 
to reenlist with the United States Army.

Dennis was a truck driver, a job he loved, often on the road anywhere
 from North Dakota to Texas. He most recently hauled wind turbine blades
 for American Wind under Denton Heavy Haulers. He was a member of the 
V.F.W. Post #3111 of Great Bend.

Survivors include three children; Jimmy Boese (Marissa) of Castle 
Rock, CO; Nicole Potter (Michael) of Hutchinson, and Holly Boese of 
Hays; a brother, David L. Boese; and a sister, Diana Wilson (Richard), 
all of Susank; 9 grandchildren and 6 great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by a son, Dennis LeRoy Boese, Jr. and a daughter, Amy Lynn Boese.

Memorial service will be 10 a.m., Monday, December 6, 2021, at 
Nicholson-Ricke Funeral Home, with Pastor Don Fisher presiding. 
Inurnment will follow in Browns Grove Cemetery, Burdette, Kansas.

 </figure>Dennis LeRoy Boese, 72, died November 30, 2021, at Clara Barton 
Hospital, Hoisington.&nbsp; He was born September 20, 1949, in LaCrosse, 
Kansas, the son of Wilbert W. and Gwendolyn M. (Norman) Boese. Dennis 
graduated from Hoisington High School.&nbsp; He was a Vietnam veteran serving
 with the United States Marine Corps from 1967- 1969.&nbsp; He later decided 
to reenlist with the United States Army.Dennis was a truck driver, a job he loved, often on the road anywhere
 from North Dakota to Texas. He most recently hauled wind turbine blades
 for American Wind under Denton Heavy Haulers. He was a member of the 
V.F.W. Post #3111 of Great Bend.Survivors include three children; Jimmy Boese (Marissa) of Castle 
Rock, CO; Nicole Potter (Michael) of Hutchinson, and Holly Boese of 
Hays; a brother, David L. Boese; and a sister, Diana Wilson (Richard), 
all of Susank; 9 grandchildren and 6 great-grandchildren.He was preceded in death by a son, Dennis LeRoy Boese, Jr. and a daughter, Amy Lynn Boese.Memorial service will be 10 a.m., Monday, December 6, 2021, at 
Nicholson-Ricke Funeral Home, with Pastor Don Fisher presiding. 
Inurnment will follow in Browns Grove Cemetery, Burdette, Kansas.Memorials may be made to the Dennis Boese Funeral Expense Fund in

Phillipsburg resident Connie Jo Springer, age 67, passed away Friday, October 29th, 2021, at the Hays Medical Center, Hays, KS.

Connie was born August 18, 1954, in Manhattan, KS the daughter of Don and Bonnie (Sowell) Springer.

Survivors include her friend Merlyn Schick of Phillipsburg; brothers 
Russell of Manhattan, Jesse of Topeka, Ronald of Manhattan, a sister Joy
 Burgess of Manhattan; and nieces, nephews, and cousins.

She was preceded in death by her parents and a brother Donald.

Cremation was planned.&nbsp; Memorial services will be held at 11:00 a.m. 
Saturday, December 4, 2021, at the Olliff-Boeve Memorial Chapel, 
Phillipsburg. &nbsp;The Inurnment will follow in the St. Peter’s Cemetery, 
Phillips County.

The family will receive friends Friday, December 3rd, at the Olliff-Boeve Memorial Chapel from 7:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. for visitation.

Memorial contributions may be made to the Phillips County E.M.S.
