Nancy Mae (Amos) Cloyd

Maxine Marie Nelson, 89, died Thursday, November 18, 2021, at Citizens 
Medical Center. She was born November 4, 1932, in Harlan County, NE, to 
Carl O Zimmerman and Mora Katherine (Stark) Zimmerman. 

Maxine graduated 
from the University of Nebraska with a degree in Education. She married 
Albert Keith Nelson on June 2, 1952. Upon moving to Colby in 1973, she 
became a reporter for the Colby Free Press and had a humor column for 
many years. She was a member of the Kansas Press Women and won several 
awards for her reporting and column. For many years, she served as a 
Weight Watcher instructor for the area. 

Maxine was active in her 
community. She was a member of many civic organizations and was an 
advocate for making businesses handicapped accessible for those who 
needed it. She was active in the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day 
Saints and served in many callings, but especially enjoyed serving in 
the Family Research Center. She was an avid genealogist. She also 
enjoyed her membership in the High Plains Art Club. She served as a Girl
 Scout leader and in the Boy Scouts for many years. Maxine enjoyed time 
with her family, gardening, genealogy, and making art of any kind, 
especially painting. 
She was preceded in death by her parents and husband, Albert Keith Nelson. 
Maxine is survived by her children, Paula (Paul) Boyd, Derby, Ks, Carl O
 Nelson, North Platte, NE, Robert L (Christine) Nelson, North Platte, 
NE, Jo (Mike) Vandenberg, Salt Lake City, UT, and Eric (Gail) Nelson, 
Bellevue, WA; 13 grandchildren, numerous great-grandchildren and one 
great-great grandchild. 
Cremation was chosen. A Celebration of Life will be held at 10 am Dec 
11, 2021, at the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints, 1145 S 
Franklin, Colby, KS. Memorials are suggested to Pioneer Memorial Library
 or Prairie Museum, and may be sent in care of Baalmann Mortuary, PO Box

Ramona Ann Stupka (Bieker)

Nyla Marie (Marsh) Powell, age 66 passed away in her home on November
 14th, 2021, in Downs, Ks. She was born to Charles Marsh and Charlotte 
(Willmarth) Marsh in Sibley, Iowa on August 3rd, 1955. &nbsp;

Nyla may have been born in Iowa, but she laid down her roots in Downs
 Ks where she dedicated her life and was a tremendous asset to the 
community. In April of 1974 she was united in marriage to Brad Gant and 
to that union Corinne Renee was born. The past 4 years she also had a 
fur son Kirby who she loved tremendously. Nyla was also a bonus mom to 
Brandy Kirchhoff Becker for many years.&nbsp;

Nyla’s truest loves were her grandchildren Kennedy, Tatum, Cooper, 
and Declan. She loved to support them in all their extracurricular 
activities. With all the exciting activities she found another passion 
to take photos. She became well known in the family as the one who would
 capture all the beautiful moments with her love of taking pictures. 
Nyla was also well known to her family and friends for making Christmas 
stockings as a new baby or significant other were added to the family. 
Everyone cherished these stockings because she made sure they 
represented each individual and she put her love and time into them.&nbsp;

Nyla graduated from the Minneapolis High School and went on to get 
her associates degree at the Vo-Tech in Beloit, Ks. Once living in 
Downs, she found her forever workplace and worked at the local 
pharmacies that were owned by Don Heiland, Kelly Berkley and Shawna 
Doane.&nbsp; In 1999 she went and received certification as a pharmacy 
technician.&nbsp;

Dedicating many years to the Downs Parks and Recreation group she 
became a true asset to the organization and community.&nbsp; Nyla made sure 
the baseball/softball teams were well supported and that the children of
 the community were taken care of through that organization. Nyla loved 
living in Downs and that love she proved through all years being so 
faithful to the various organizations and jobs she had.&nbsp;

Nyla is preceded in death&nbsp;by her parents and Betty Kaspers (mother in
 law) and left to mourn her is her daughter Corinne (Bryan) Hoard, 
Kennedy Walsh (Alexis Ryan), Tatum, Cooper, Declan Hoard, her siblings 
Kevin, Valerie, Calvin, Margaret, Anthony &amp; Aaron, sister in law 
Lana Gant and family Lela, Trevor, Hadee, Tynlee, Ridge Arnoldy, Dee, 
Jesse, Byntlee and Kessler Winkel, nieces and nephews that she dearly 
loved and friends that became family, and a beautiful community that she
 cherished.&nbsp;

Nyla will be forever missed by her family, friends, and coworkers. 
She will remembered for many things but most of all for loving her 
family and her work.

Memorial services will take place at a later date. In lieu of flowers memorials may be made to the Downs Parks and Recreation.&nbsp;

Billy Pack Beamgard was born on December 2, 1933, in Atwood, KS, to C.W.
 and Gladys Innes Beamgard. Billy Pack passed away after a tragic 
accident on November 23, 2021. He was very proud to live in and be an 
active member of the Atwood community most of his life, only leaving for
 a few years for the military, college and his first few years of 
teaching. 
After high school graduation, Bill went to college at KSU, where he 
obtained his pilot’s license. Being a pilot was a favorite hobby of 
Bills. Next, Bill and good friend Frankie Chvatal joined the U.S. Army 
together in September of 1954, serving in Korea. After coming home from 
the Army, he returned to his education at FHSU. Following his graduation
 from FHSU, Bill taught math in Valley and Elkhorn, NE for 7 years 
before moving back to Atwood, KS to continue his teaching career. Bill 
started teaching math courses at Atwood High School in 1967 and later 
started the computer science program, building it from the ground up. He
 took classes in Computer Science over the summers from KSU. Bill 
continued teaching and helping students to learn until his retirement in
 1997. Bill had many fond memories of his students and always enjoyed 
visiting with them. He did take one year off from teaching to pursue his
 other passion, cars. He worked as a mechanic, as he did most summers, 
at the family Dodge dealership. He was a lifelong “Dodge Boy.” 
Bill was an active member of many organizations, community groups, and 
school programs. As part of Lions Club International, he was the 
District Governor 17K from 1975-76 and chaired the KS Lions Sight 
Foundation. He was also a member of the American Legion, VFW, Masons, 
Shriners Club, ODD Fellows, Atwood Flying Club, Silver Haired 
Legislature, Atwood School Board, Kansas Teachers Association, NEA, 
Methodist Church, was an Eagle Scout Advisor (Bill was also an Eagle 
Scout), Atwood City Mayor (founding Mayor of the Early Rod Run), and 
Atwood City Council member. Bill loved the Atwood community and loved 
being involved and giving his time. 
While finishing his education at FHSU, Bill met the love of his life, 
Jeanine D. Gagnon, a registered nurse. They were married on December 26,
 1960. They had three children, William John “Bill”, JoLinda Lee Oberly,
 and James Patrick “Jim” and four grandchildren, Austin Earle Oberly, 
Andrew Austin Oberly, Jesse Pack Beamgard, and Savannah Belle Beamgard. 
Bill was preceded in death by his parents; his 3 older siblings, Donald,
 Rodney and Patricia Beamgard Makings; sisters-in-law, June Argabright 
Beamgard and Teresa Dozababa Beamgard and grandson Austin Earle Oberly. 
Visitation is 5-7:00 p.m. Friday, November 26, 2021, at Baalmann 
Mortuary, Atwood. Funeral Service is 11:00 a.m. Saturday, November 27,

Dwight 'Bud' Franklin Perrey

Muriel Elizabeth (Leonard) Davis, age 90, went to be with the Lord 
Jesus her Savior at her home in Minneola, FL on November 19, 2021. She 
was born in Blue Ridge, VA on August 4, 1931, the eldest daughter of 
Anthony and Bertha (White) Leonard.

She grew up working on the family farm while attending Colonial 
Elementary. She graduated from Colonial High School before she attended 
Bryan University in Dayton, TN. After meeting her future husband, she 
transferred to Gordon College in Wenham, MA.

Muriel married Chuck Davis on September 12, 1958, in Blue Ridge. This marriage was blessed by four children.

After Chuck finished seminary and was ordained, they pastored at 
Glade Creek Church in Blue Ridge. They joined Africa Inland Mission and 
they served with the mission for 48 years before retiring to the 
mission’s facilities in Florida.

As missionaries they attended French language school in Neuchatel, 
Switzerland and then moved to the Ituri Forest Station of Banjwadi, in 
the Republic of Congo. After three months as missionaries, Muriel and 
Chuck were held as political prisoners. Chuck was held in a prison and 
Muriel, pregnant, and with 2 children was held at a missionary station 
with several other families. After 111 days, they were rescued by 
Belgium Para Commandos and returned to the United States. Muriel, Chuck 
and 3 children returned to the Republic of Congo in 1966 where they 
served for another 10 years.

When the family of six returned to the United States, they made their
 home in Roanoke, VA. Muriel worked for Shenandoah Life Insurance and 
Musselwhite &amp; Associates for over 30 years. After retirement, they 
moved to the Africa Inland Mission Retirement Center in Minneola, 
Florida.

Muriel is survived by her husband, Chuck; son, Steve Davis and his 
wife, Debbie, of Hummeltown, PA; three daughters, Beth Taylor and her 
husband, Dr. Bill, of Byrdstown, TN, Susan Falero of Chapin, SC and Judy
 Fitzgerald and her husband, Joel II, of Ness City, KS; 10 
grandchildren; and 4 great grand-children; one brother, Robert Leonard, 
of Blue Ridge; two sisters, Carolyn Vandergrift and her husband, 
Richard, of Harrisburg, NC and Sandra Ennis and her husband, Harry, of 
St. Augustine, FL; two sisters-in-law, Shelby Leonard, Blue Ridge and 
Betty Yackels, Bradenton, FL; three brothers-in-law, Nelson Dudley, 
Roanoke, VA, George Tribbett, Blue Ridge, and Herbie Davis (Roberta), 
Middleboro, MA. &nbsp;She was preceded in death by her parents; one brother, 
Fred Leonard; two sisters, Janie Dudley and Margaret Tribbett; one 
brother-in-law, Robert Yackels; and two sisters-in-law, Dorothy Leonard 
and Mary Guilfoyle (Jim).

A memorial service will be held at a later date. Rather than flowers memorial contributions may be given to Samaritans Purse.

Muriel Elizabeth Davis

Michael John “Mikey” DeLa Vega was born February 10, 1984, in Escondido, CA. He passed away November 21, 2021, at the age of 37.
 Mikey grew up in Ramona, CA and was a 2002 Romana High School 
graduate. He worked for Ulmer Home Improvement in Norton. Mikey enjoyed 
racing RC cars and dirt bikes. More than anything he loved having a BBQ 
with all his family and friends.
 Mikey is survived by his father, Victor De La Vega, Sr. of Almena; 
mother, Alana Castaneda of Ramona, CA; girlfriend, Darci Palmer of 
Norton; children: Victor DeLa Vega, Zane Brown, Xander Brown, Tayah

 Mikey grew up in Ramona, CA and was a 2002 Romana High School 
graduate. He worked for Ulmer Home Improvement in Norton. Mikey enjoyed 
racing RC cars and dirt bikes. More than anything he loved having a BBQ 
with all his family and friends.

Michael John 'Mikey' DeLa Vega

Andrew Scott Campbell Sr. was born June 6, 1977, in McPherson, KS and 
was raised by Vivian and Randall Campbell. He passed away November 21, 
2021, at the age of 44. 
 Andrew grew up in Great Bend and attended the local schools, where 
he was active in sports. He enjoyed traveling, working out, and fishing 
with his buddies. Andrew always noticed and paid special attention to 
children and made them feel loved. He loved food, animals, all kinds of 
music, and most of all he loved the Kansas City Chiefs. While in Norton,
 he worked on the Bullseye Ranch and helped renovate several buildings. 
Andrew lit up a room every time he walked in and most recently, he was a
 mentor to many who were struggling with addiction. He preached his 
sobriety and was so proud of his accomplishments, and his family was 
very happy for all that he had overcome. Andrew was a big part of the 
Freedom Choice Group and spent all his downtime encouraging others and 
uplifting them. 
 Andrew was preceded in death by his father, Randall L. Campbell. He 
is survived by his mother, Vivian Campbell and husband LeRoy Armijo of 
Commerce City, CO; daughter, Haley Glover of Forsyth, MO; son, Andrew 
Glover Campbell, Jr. of Forsyth, MO; sister, Amy Campbell of Commerce 
City, CO; niece, Micayla Campbell of Brighton, CO; nephew, Dylan

Walter C. Underwood, 92, passed away November 23, 2021, at Brookdale 
Senior Living in Great Bend. He was born on June 11, 1929, to Kenneth 
&amp; Edna (Russell) Underwood. He married Theoda Martin March 29, 1951,
 at Raton, New Mexico.&nbsp;

Coming to Great Bend from Dodge City in 1974, Walter was the Plant 
Superintendent of Western P&amp;L, Sunflower Electric, Wheatland 
Electric and Aquila, having retired in 1991. He was a member of First 
Baptist Church and loved studying the bible. He enjoyed woodworking and 
restoring antique John Deere tractors.

Survivors include, his wife Theoda Underwood of the home; two sons, 
Mark Underwood and wife Sherri of Sharon, Kan., and Pat Underwood and 
wife Kerry of Blanchard, Okla.; two daughters, Debbie Chapman and 
husband Michael of Lee's Summit, Mo., and Denise Scott and husband Bryan
 of Great Bend; sixteen grandchildren; and thirty-six great 
grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents; and a brother, 
Charles Underwood.

Visitation will be held from Noon to 8:00 p.m., Monday, November 29, 
2021 at Bryant Funeral Home, with family to receive friends from 5:00 
p.m. to 7:00 p.m. Funeral Service will be held at 10:00 a.m., Tuesday, 
November 30, 2021, at Bryant Funeral Home with Reverend Leroy Keith 
presiding. Interment will be in the Forest Park Cemetery in Anthony at 
3:00 p.m., with Military Rites conducted by the Fort Riley Honor Guard.

Randy M. Lansink, 63, died on Monday, November 22, 2021, at St. Catherine
 Hospital in Garden City. He was born on September 8, 1958, at Ida 
Grove, Iowa the son of George W. &amp; Loween M. Lansink. He married 
Roxanne Morgan on November 28, 2020 at Garden City. 
Randy attended school in Arthur, Iowa and graduated from Ida Grove, Iowa
 High School. He went to work for IBP in Denison, Iowa and moved to 
Finney County to work on the construction crew building the IBP Plant at
 Holcomb. After the plant opened, he was the Superintendent of Hides 
and Tannery. He later started Lansink Construction Company and worked 
commercial construction. He also owned and operated Quick Cash in 
Garden City and Lansink Transfer Company, a livestock feed hauling 
business. Randy enjoyed playing the guitar, tinkering in his garage, 
riding his motorcycle, researching and doing anything mechanical, and 
traveling. He was also very good at telling stories about his 
adventurous life and enjoyed spending time with his family and friends. 
 
He is survived by his Wife- Roxanne N. Lansink, Children- Stephanie and 
Neal Murphy of Bucyrus, Jessica and Shelby LaFay of Wichita, Jeremy and 
Marissa Morgan of Holdredge, Nebraska, Dustin and Lanette Morgan of 
Wichita, April and Matt Bergner of Scott City, and Brittaney and Ryan 
Owens of Lakin, Brothers- George Lansink of Cedar Falls, Iowa and Kent 
Lansink of Manilla, Iowa, Sister- Brenda Wallace of Olathe, Kansas. His 9
 grandchildren are Kerriann, Devin, Peyton, Adrreis, Gavyn, Adrianna, 
Samara, Brooklyn, and Ryan. He was preceded in death by his Parents, 
Daughter Kristi, and Brother- Brice Lansink.

Lillian Jean “Lil” Becker, 80, of Russell, Kansas, died on Wednesday, November 24, 2021, at her home in Russell.

Lillian was born on July 29, 1941, in Victoria, Kansas, the daughter of Joseph and Florina (Dreiling) Graf.&nbsp; She grew up in Victoria, Kansas, and graduated from Victoria High School in the class of 1959.&nbsp; She met, fell in love and was united in marriage to John Becker on April 23, 1966, in Victoria.&nbsp; From this union Lillian and John were blessed with a son Wayne and they made there home in Russell.&nbsp; Her fulltime job was wife, mother and homemaker for her family.&nbsp; She also worked outside the home as a prep cook at Vintage Place and Martino’s Pizza.&nbsp; She was a longtime member of St. Mary Queen of Angels Catholic Church in Russell and enjoyed participating in Church Guild and doing mission work through the church.&nbsp; She enjoyed gardening, cooking and sewing, but most of all enjoyed spending time with her family, friends and cats.

Surviving family include her husband John of the home; son Wayne Becker of Cleveland, Ohio; grandson Jacob Becker of Cleveland, Ohio; nieces Jolene Watson of Cimarron, Kansas and Karen Sharp of Salina, Kansas; and nephews Michael Schmidt and wife Mary of Ellsworth, Kansas, David Schmidt and wife Gloria of Salina, Kansas and Mark Schmidt of Salina, Kansas.

She was preceded in death by her parents, sister Joan Schmidt, brother in-law Virgil Schmidt, niece Theresa Schmidt and niece in-law Laura Schmidt.

A celebration of the funeral mass for Lillian will be held at 10:30 A.M. on Monday, November 29, 2021, at the St. Mary Queen of Angels Catholic Church in Russell.&nbsp; A Rosary will take place at 7 P.M. on Sunday, November 28, 2021, at the mortuary.&nbsp; Viewing and visitation will take place from 1 P.M. to 8 P.M. on Sunday at the mortuary with family greeting guests from 6 P.M. to 7 P.M. Lenora Louise (Quade) Grover, age 70, of Hays, KS, entered the Kingdom of Heaven, on November 23, 2021.&nbsp; She passed away at the Hays Medical Center following a brief illness. Lenora was born on November 24, 1950, in Beloit, KS, to Fred H. and Edna P. (Nusbaum) Quade.&nbsp; She moved to Great Bend, KS as a small child and graduated from Great Bend High School in 1968. &nbsp; On November 30, 1969, she married V. Lynn Schmitt in Great Bend, KS, and to their union were born BJ, Monnie and Eric.&nbsp; They later divorced. On January 10, 1976, Lenora married her soul mate, Daniel Grover, in Great Bend, KS.&nbsp; To this union, Heather, was born.&nbsp; Lenora’s life with Daniel took her to several states, including Kansas, Colorado, Oklahoma and back to Kansas, where they settled in Hays in 1990.&nbsp; Lenora was a fabulous cook, learning all she knew from her mother.&nbsp; She tried her hand at many things, including managing an Eyewear Business in Great Bend, a Sheriff’s Deputy in Oakley, KS and food service in Ness City.&nbsp; Her passion always led her back to taking care of the public and working in the food industry.&nbsp; She met so many people along the way and never knew a stranger. &nbsp; She had a kind soul and treated everyone with genuine love.&nbsp; She had a memorable personality and although tiny, she never let her size get in the way.&nbsp; Her greatest accomplishment was her family.&nbsp; Time spent with her kids and grandkids were very precious to her.&nbsp; She loved her Lord and Savior and her faith carried her through. Lenora is preceded in death by her parents, Fred and Edna Quade; her brother-in-law, Robert Zink; her Brother-In-Law, Leroy Weese; her Mother-In-Law, Bonnie Grover, her Father and Mother-In-Law, Clarence and Maxine Grover; and her sister-in-law, Gwinni Delgado. Lenora is survived by her husband, Daniel, of the home.&nbsp; Her children BJ Schmitt of Hays; Monnie (Doug) Shearer of Hays; Eric (Darcy) Schmitt of Hays; Heather Grover of Hays; Clarence Grover of Hyannis, NE; Kimberly (Ward) Corsair of La Crosse; 12 grandchildren; her puppies Sweetie, Colt and Bick; and many nieces, nephews and extended family.&nbsp; She is also survived by her sister, Alberta of Kansas City; her brother Doug (Dorothy) of Great Bend; and her brother Brian (Patty) of Hoisington. Visitation will be on Friday, November 26, 2021, from 5:30 p.m. to 7:30 p.m. at the Brock’s – Keithley Funeral Chapel at 2509 Vine St. in Hays, KS .&nbsp; Funeral Services will be on Saturday, November 27, 2021, at 10:00 a.m. at Funeral Chapel, with Pastor Brenda Rodger officiating.&nbsp; Lenora will be placed to rest in the Blue Hills, north of Hunter, KS, in the Rose Valley Cemetery at 12:30 PM. In lieu of flowers, the family requests memorials to the family for memorial expenses, in care of the Brock’s – Keithley Funeral Chapel.

Lenora Louise (Quade) Grover

Anthony "Butch" L. Feldt, 87, of Park, Kansas, passed away November 21, 
2021, at the Sheridan County Health Complex. 

He was born on July 17, 
1934, at the family home near Park, Kansas, the ninth child of Anton and
 Anna (Reinert) Feldt. He grew up on the family farm and attended Park 
Elementary and graduated from the Park High School. Following 
graduation, he served in the United States Army for two years. Following
 his honorable discharge from the Army he returned home to help his 
parents with the farm. On April 30, 1957, Butch married the love of his 
life Mary Ann Rupp. They lived on the family farm, farming, and running 
the dairy. They were blessed with a family of three sons and two 
daughters. 
 Butch spent all his life as a farmer and dairy farmer. He also had a
 business, Feldt Sales, selling tarps, grain carts, and grinders. He was
 part of the Machinery, Equipment, and Supplies Merchant Wholesalers 
Industry. He traveled to many farms shows showing and selling his wares.
 He enjoyed working with and helping organize the Gove County Rodeo. 
Butch and Mary Ann worked hard, but they did enjoy a trip to Germany. 
Butch also loved to play and teach others to play pitch. Butch never 
knew a stranger and had a giggle one could not forget. He was very 
devoted to his Lord and Savior. He worked faithfully in and for the 
church and was active in the Knights of Columbus.
 Butch is survived by his son, Roy Feldt and wife Linda of Lavon, 
Texas; daughters, Barbara Ellegood and husband Tate of Hays, Kansas and 
Rosanne Schroeder and husband Stan of Gilbert, Arizona; grandchildren, 
Matt Schroeder, Jenny Bretz, Jason Feldt, Greg Feldt, Cole Feldt, and 
Shelly Butler; eight great-grandchildren; extended family and friends.
 He was preceded in death by his wife, Mary Ann; parents, Anton, and 
Anna Feldt; sons, Edwin Feldt and Douglas Feldt; brothers, Jerome 
Feldt, Jack Feldt, Pete Feldt, Clete Feldt, and Norb Feldt; and sisters,
 Bette Younger, Teresa Benton, and Anna Marie Huelsman; and 
granddaughter, Shari Schroeder.
 A Mass of Christian Burial will be held Saturday, November 27, 2021,
 at the Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Park, Kansas at 10:00 A.M. with 
interment in the Sacred Heart Cemetery, Park following the service. 
Visitations will be held on Friday, November 26, 2021, at Mickey-Leopold
 Funeral Home, Hoxie, Kansas from 1:00 P.M. to 4:00 P.M. and Saturday, 
November 27, 2021, at the Sacred Heart Catholic Church, Park, Kansas 
from 8:30 A.M. until service time, 10:00 A.M. A Vigil and Rosary 
Service will be held at the Sacred Heart Catholic Church, Friday, 
November 26, 2021 at 7:15 P.M.

Bradley Lynn Padgett, 62, died on October 12, 2021 at Las Animas, Colorado. He was born on November 12, 1958 at Ness City. 
Brad was a 1977 graduate of Dighton High School. After his schooling he
 moved to Abbyville, Louisiana to work on a crew building electric high 
lines along the gulf course. After a few years he moved to Wichita 
where he was a plumber, chimney sweep and worked in sales. He then 
returned to Dighton and worked as a carpenter for Krehbiel Construction 
and Richard Weiser. He moved to Las Animas, Colorado eight years ago. 
He enjoyed gardening, writing poetry and taking care of his cats. He always referred his poems as Western Red-Neck Zen. 
He is survived by his Mother and Step-Father- Neoma and Ronald Conner of
 Shawnee, 3 Brothers- Jeff Padgett of Los Angeles, California. Phil 
&amp; Connie Padgett of Wichita and Tim &amp; Arabie Conner of Shawne 
and 10 Nephews and Nieces. 
Memorial Service will be at 11:00 AM Saturday, December 4, 2021 at 
United Methodist Church in Dighton with Rev Lennie Maxwell officiating. 
 Burial will be in Dighton Memorial Cemetery.
