Rose Marie Feldkamp, 93, of Seneca, died on Tuesday evening,&nbsp;March 29, 2022, at the Nemaha Valley Community Hospital in Seneca.&nbsp;

Rose was born on February 3, 1929, in Seneca,&nbsp;to&nbsp;Walter and Theresa Hays Becker. She attended Sts. Peter and Paul School and graduated on May 17, 1946. After graduation,&nbsp;she worked for Lanning and&nbsp;Drumm&nbsp;Law Office for&nbsp;five&nbsp;years as a secretary.&nbsp;

On August 29, 1950 she married Lloyd Feldkamp at Sts. Peter and Paul&nbsp;Catholic Church in Seneca. The&nbsp;couple lived&nbsp;south of Seneca until 1956,&nbsp;when they moved to Axtell, Kansas,&nbsp;wherethey resided&nbsp;until 1995, at which&nbsp;time they returned&nbsp;Seneca.&nbsp;

Rose&nbsp;was a true farmers wife, working alongside&nbsp;her husband on the farm. &nbsp;She&nbsp;was thebookkeeper&nbsp;for St. Michael&nbsp;Catholic Church in Axtell for many years, while they were a member of the&nbsp;parish.&nbsp;While a member of Sts. Peter &amp; Paul Catholic church she volunteered at&nbsp;funeral dinners for many years.&nbsp;Rose loved to embroidery, crochet,&nbsp;sew&nbsp;and&nbsp;cook; she relished the time visiting with her&nbsp;family and grandchildren. Rose was a member of Sts. Peter and Paul Catholic&nbsp;Church in&nbsp;Seneca&nbsp;and&nbsp;St. Ann’s&nbsp;Altar&nbsp;Sodality.

Rose was preceded in death by her husband,&nbsp;Lloyd on May 28, 2010;&nbsp;her son, Kevin on February 27, 1986;&nbsp;great-grandchildren, Aiden Meinhardt on May 2, 2009 and Micah Lierz&nbsp;on&nbsp;October&nbsp;18, 2021; her son-in-law,&nbsp;Robert Stallbaumer August 21, 2018; and her brother,&nbsp;Walter&nbsp;Becker&nbsp;on March 24, 2011.

She is survived by her six daughters, Donna Stallbaumer of&nbsp;Seneca, Linda (Charles) Schreiner of Topeka,&nbsp;Terry (Glen) McNeil of Hays, Gayle (Robert) Meyer of Sabetha, Becky (Mark) Lierz of Seneca, Kathy (David)&nbsp;Anstaett, of Tecumseh;&nbsp;four sons, Larry (Andrea) Feldkamp of Manhattan, Randy (Mary) Feldkamp of Fairbury, Nebraska, Fred (Maggie) Feldkamp of Axtell and Darin (Kim) Feldkamp of Topeka; 24 grandchildren;&nbsp;and 27 great-grandchildren.&nbsp;

Rosaries will be prayed at 2 &amp; 7&nbsp;PM&nbsp;on&nbsp;Thursday, March 31, 2022, at Lauer Funeral Home in Seneca. Mass of Christian Burial will be&nbsp;celebrated at&nbsp;11&nbsp;AM&nbsp;on&nbsp;Friday, April 1, 2022, at Sts. Peter and Paul Catholic Church in Seneca. &nbsp;Burial will be in the church cemetery.

Memorials can be given in&nbsp;Rose’s memory, to the Nemaha County&nbsp;Meals on Wheels&nbsp;Program, and sent in care of the family.&nbsp;

Gregory R. Bordewick , 56, passed away on Tuesday, March 
22, 2022 at his home in Garden City. He was born on April 12, 1965 at 
Lancaster, California the son of John L. &amp; Karen S. (McComb) 
Bordewick. 
Greg graduated from Stanton County High School in Johnson with the Class
 of 1983. He attended Seward County Community College and graduated 
from Wichita State University with his Bachelor Degree in Organismal 
Biology with a minor in Ecology. He went to work for Dr. Pepper in 
Wichita before moving to Garden City where he became a Zoo Keeper at Lee
 Richardson Zoo for 18 years. At present, he was a truck driver for 
Huber Sand Company. He enjoyed reading about history, politics and was 
devoted to taking care of animals. 
He is survived by his Children- Ryan Bordweick of Wichita and Megan 
Bordewick of Manhattan, Parents- Karen Bordewick of Garden City and John
 Bordewick of Clyde park, Montana, Siblings- Todd Bordewick and Lance 
Bordewick both of Garden City, Sonja Zook of Butte, Montana and Danelle 
Adair of Carmel, Indiana and 8 Nieces and Nephews.

Brady Tyler Boker, 26, passed away March 27, 2022, at his home in 
Great Bend. He was born on September 5, 1995, to Matthew and Jolena 
(McMillen) Boker.

A longtime Great Bend resident, Brady worked for Quality Design 
Construction. Brady was known for his sense of humor and whitty remarks.
 He enjoyed outdoor activities and quality family time with those he 
loved and cherished. We put Brady in God’s hands and will love you 
Forever, Always, Promise.

Survivors include, his mother, Jolena Boker of Great Bend; his 
father, Matthew Boker of Peoria, Ariz.; two daughters, Zoey May Boker of
 Great Falls, Mont. and Laily Faye Boker of Great Bend; two sisters, 
Kristin Bridges and husband Russell of Oakdale, Calif. and Nicole Horner
 and husband Jarred of Great Bend; and his uncle Brian McMillen and 
family. Brady was a loving uncle to three nieces and four nephews. He 
was preceded in death by his grandfather, Papa Joe.

There will be no services as cremation has taken place. Memorials 
have been designated to the Brady Boker Expense Fund, in care of Bryant 
Funeral Home.

William “Bill” Gene Toelkes entered into heaven on March 27, 2022, at home with his wife and daughter by his side.

Bill was born on January 28, 1950, in Hays, Kansas, to Donald Gene 
Toelkes and Patricia Jean Turnbull Toelkes. He grew up in Minden, 
Louisiana, and graduated from Minden High School in 1969.

He joined the United States Marine Corps in 1969 and served as a reservist for six years.

He went to work for Goodyear in Trenton, Missouri, where he met and 
married Linda Taul on September 11, 1971. &nbsp;He knew she was the one when 
he saw her in her 1963 red Chevy Impala. He and Linda had one daughter, 
Sonja. His daughter was his world.

Bill worked in the Oil and Gas industry for 46 years. He started out 
in the warehouse at Bovaird Supply Company in 1971. He worked his way up
 to Vice President of Operations. He went on to work for Continental 
Emsco, Wilson Supply, Bell Supply, and PCC. He retired in 2017. Everyone
 knew that if you needed to know what to do to get the job done you 
called Bill. &nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;

Everyone in the family will remember Bill’s sense of humor. If there 
were antics or pranks involved, you knew where to look. Bill would want 
to be remembered as a great hunter and golfer…even if that wasn’t always
 the case.

Bill was a member of Wesley United Methodist Church in Greenville, Texas and a member of the Covenant Sunday School class.

He loved his family. His most fun and cherished times in retirement were fishing with Andrew and watching Lizzie cheer.

Bill loved to travel. Some of his favorite memories were taking 
family vacations. He loved going to Hawaii, New Orleans, Las Vegas, 
Alaska, and Disney World with the grandkids. He loved our yearly trips 
to Beavers Bend and was always up for a good night of roasting smores, 
shooting pool, and playing poker with Andrew and Elizabeth.

He loved family get-togethers at Thanksgiving and Christmas. 
Christmas service at church was one of his favorite traditions. He loved
 music from the 50’s and 60’s. He liked to sing these old songs to his 
grandkids.

Bill was preceded in death by his parents. Still carrying on his 
legacy are his wife Linda, daughter Sonja Toelkes Cavett and her husband
 Chris, grandchildren Andrew Parker Cavett and Elizabeth Ann Cavett, 
sisters Judy Miller and Donna Marsalis, and brother Rodney Toelkes.

A celebration of life is scheduled for April 9, 2022, at 2:00 p.m. at 
Wesley United Methodist Church in Greenville, Texas, with a reception to 
follow. Reverend Chris Yost will officiate.

Arrangements are being handled by Lynch Funeral Service in

Elmira Maude (Underwood) David

Leroy Albert Lang was born on May 23, 1938, in Ellsworth Co., Kansas, to 
Albert and Beatrice (Menzer) Lang. He passed from this earth on March 
25, 2022. He is survived by his wife, Judy of the home in Norton, son 
Michael of rural Norton, daughter Michelle (Paul) Williams of Overland 
Park, his two beloved grandsons Mackay Williams of Tampa, Florida, and 
Cooper Williams student at Pitt State. He is also survived by his 
sisters, Barbara (Raymond) Schmitz of Fort Mill, S.C., and Jeanette 
(Patrick) Sterrett of Travelers Rest, S.C., nieces, nephews and various 
other family and friends. He was predeceased by his infant brother, 
Eugene, his parents, uncles, and aunts.
 Leroy grew to boyhood in rural McCracken, Ks. In 1950 his family 
moved to Norton and purchased the family farm. He attended Norton 
schools and graduated from Norton Community High School in 1956. He 
then attended K-State and graduated with an Ag Ed degree in 1961. He 
was a member of the Norton National Guard. Leroy married Judith Ann 
Mowery on August 6, 1966 in Osborne, KS. He was active in the community 
and served as a board member of the Norton County Co-op and was a two 
term Norton County Commissioner. He was dedicated to the community of 
Norton and was passionate about seeing the county continue to prosper.
 Leroy was a member of the St. Francis of Assisi Catholic church. He
 was a third-degree member of the Knights of Columbus. He was also a 
former member of the parish council. 
 Leroy was passionate about agriculture. After graduating from KSU, 
he worked in farming and at Norton County Implement, Allis Chalmers 
dealer, which his father was co-owner. In 1966 he took a position with 
New Holland in Denton, Texas and later Enid, Oklahoma. In 1973 he moved
 his wife and daughter back to Norton to take over the family farm. He 
continued farming until his health began declining. He enjoyed farming,
 and he loved taking care of his cattle. 
 He was a dedicated husband, father, and grandfather. He was especially fond of his two grandsons.
 Mass of Christian Burial will be held 10:30 am Thursday, March 31, 
2022, at the St. Francis of Assisi Catholic Church in Norton. Vigil 
services will be held at 7:00 pm Wednesday, March 30, at the church. 
Inurnment at a later date at the Norton Cemetery.

Leroy Albert Lang

Sallie Adaline Hager, 86, passed away on March 28, 2022, at Clara 
Barton Hospital, Hoisington, Kansas. She was born on November 20, 1935,&nbsp; in Horace, Kansas, to Glen &amp; Bessie (Smith) Neal. Sallie married 
Arthur Hager on August 18, 1953, at Hoisington, Kansas.&nbsp; He died May 26, 
2014.

Coming from Dighton in 2004, Sallie was a Claflin, Kansas resident. 
Prior to her retirement, she worked as a nurses aid, mainly for Lane 
County Hospital. She was a member of the Christian Church in Dighton, 
United Methodist Church in Claflin, lifetime member of the VFW, and an 
avid bingo player. Sallie also cherished her dog, Sarge.

Survivors include, four daughters, Vickie (Randy) Oeser of Claflin, 
Debra (Paula Skinner) Hager of Wichita, Cathy (Matt) Soeken of Claflin, 
Sandra Jo Hager of Wichita; five grandchildren, Rachelle (Chad) 
Stratmann, Christina Hayes, Sara (Dustin) Arnold, Ryan (Abra) Oeser, 
Ross Oeser; ten great-grandchildren; Rebecca, Evan, Bryson and Ava 
Stratmann, Richie Hayes, Grant and Josslyn Arnold, Raelyn Oeser, Khloe

Barton Hospital, Hoisington, Kansas. She was born on November 20, 1935,&nbsp; in Horace, Kansas, to Glen &amp; Bessie (Smith) Neal. Sallie married 
Arthur Hager on August 18, 1953, at Hoisington, Kansas.&nbsp; He died May 26, 
2014.Coming from Dighton in 2004, Sallie was a Claflin, Kansas resident. 
Prior to her retirement, she worked as a nurses aid, mainly for Lane 
County Hospital. She was a member of the Christian Church in Dighton, 
United Methodist Church in Claflin, lifetime member of the VFW, and an 
avid bingo player. Sallie also cherished her dog, Sarge.Survivors include, four daughters, Vickie (Randy) Oeser of Claflin, 
Debra (Paula Skinner) Hager of Wichita, Cathy (Matt) Soeken of Claflin, 
Sandra Jo Hager of Wichita; five grandchildren, Rachelle (Chad) 
Stratmann, Christina Hayes, Sara (Dustin) Arnold, Ryan (Abra) Oeser, 
Ross Oeser; ten great-grandchildren; Rebecca, Evan, Bryson and Ava 
Stratmann, Richie Hayes, Grant and Josslyn Arnold, Raelyn Oeser, Khloe

Sallie Adaline Hager

Lowell Arden Blickenstaff was born October 12, 1936, in Oberlin, Kansas, to
 Florence Blickenstaff (Hayes) And Edgar Blickenstaff. Lowell passed 
away Saturday, March 26, 2022, at the age of 85 at the Smith County 
Memorial Hospital, following a 35 year struggle with heart disease.
 After graduating in 1954, he moved with his family to rural Beaver 
City to farm. He made the long drive back to Smith Center to pursue his 
relationship with his bride to be Ardyus Lambert. They were united in 
marriage on June 1, 1956. They were blessed with three children Rodney 
Wayne, Cynthia Jo, and Carla Jean. Sometime around 1961 they move back 
to Smith County to establish a farmstead of their own. In 1992 they 
moved into the Lambert home where they currently reside.
 Lowell’s lifelong career was farming and taking care of cattle. 
Once his heart condition made him medically retire he picked up going to
 auctions for a friend Gayle Jones. Speaking of his heart condition he 
had quite an interesting story about his 1st heart attack ambulance 
trip. First ambulance caught fire on the way to the farm; sent a second 
one and it broke down. Then the gurney wouldn’t fit through the front 
door with him on it so they had to take him out through the picture 
window. It was just like Lowell to kick things off with a bang. Over the
 years he used all nine lives and possibly more. Lowell had a talent 
like no other. I don’t know anyone that is or was a better Deer Hunter 
but not intentionally. I’m pretty sure he even hit more than one deer 
in a day going to and from coffee. He had many passions in his life but 
he would make sure he made time for grandkids and friends. He played 
cards, enjoyed drinking coffee with his buddies including hanging out at
 Freddy Kolb’s auction house. 
 He never missed a chance of being a jokester and or telling jokes. 
Lowell had a gorilla suit/masks and loved to make his grandkids squeal. 
In his older years he moved on to other masks and wigs to continue his 
shenanigans. Another past time of his was turkey hunting and cat 
fishing. One of his favorite fishing memories was the day he went pond 
fishing with Cindy’s crew. His pole was the only lucky one &amp; hardly 
had enough string to reach the water. Lowell and Ardyus had several dogs
 over the years one Pokie but several Klide’s. Keep the same name and 
you don’t have to update the doghouse. He was known in the surrounding 
communities as the owner of the well-behaved dog on the toolbox. 
 Lowell is survived by his wife Ardyus of the home, son Rod 
Blickenstaff of Smith Center, daughters, Cindy Ratliff (Warren) of Glade
 Kansas, and Carla Aduddell significant other Rod Cassida of Camdenton 
MO.

Roy Jeffery “Jeff” Bell was born in Smith Center, Kansas on December 4, 
1956, to Roy Dean and Sharon (Bose) Bell and passed away November 10, 
2020. He lived on the Bell family farm near Gaylord, Kansas most of his
 life. 
 Jeff graduated from Smith Center High School in 1975. While in high
 school, Jeff partnered with his dad to start a registered duroc hog 
business. He enjoyed raising durocs and showing them at various county 
and state fairs. Later in his life he returned to this passion as he 
raised and showed pigs along with his friends at Godsey Showpigs. Jeff 
also enjoyed farming and worked on several farms in Smith County before 
returning to the family farm where he retired in 2019.
 He is preceded in death by his mother, Sharon Bell; grandparents, 
Emil and Esther Bose; Roy M. and Mary Bell; and great niece, Makinna 
Butler.
 Left to cherish his memory are his Dad, Roy Dean Bell; his son, 
Hunter Bell; sisters Luann Jones and husband Earl, Kerri Garman and

Leon Troy Cook&nbsp;passed away in his home surrounded by his family on March 26, 2022, at the age of 69, after a year-and-a-half battle against gastro-esophageal cancer. He was born on January 7, 1953, to Lillian and Louis Cook, in Bismarck, ND, and was raised in Norman, OK with his three sisters and twin brother.

From 1971-1973, Troy served his country in the U.S. Army and in the Vietnam War.&nbsp; He married Debora M. Skolout, in Beardsley, KS, on August 18, 1979, and they had three children. He graduated from Central State University in 1991.

 He worked in several fields, including the oil field, electrical, carpentry, and purchasing/inventory &amp; retail sales, retiring from Wal-Mart after 17-years, in 2018.

Troy was a man of great integrity, always prioritizing God, country and family. 

He and his family lived in Norman, OK until 1993, they then lived in Pine Bluff, AR until 1995, and then in Hays, KS until May 2021 when he and Debbie moved to Salina, KS, for their retirement. 

Troy loved spending time outdoors and was an avid golfer, photographer, hunter, cycler and OU Football fan. He and Debbie enjoyed traveling with both family and friends. Troy was always cracking jokes and kept his friends and family laughing until his final days.

Troy is survived by his wife Debora M. Cook; two children, daughter Crystal (Brian Leftridge) of Shawnee, KS; son Thomas (Brittany) Cook of Salina, KS; three granddaughters, Briella, Taylie, and Leah Cook and his two sisters, Linda Cook and Julie (Cook) Kranker of FL. 

He was preceded in death by his father Louis Starr Cook; his mother Lillian Joyce Washburn; his stepfather Wendall Washburn; his brother William Cook, sister Nancy (Cook) Johnson; and his infant daughter Elizabeth Cook.

The visitation will be held at Sacred Heart Cathedral, Salina, on April 2nd at 10 a.m., rosary at 11:10, followed by the funeral mass at 11:30 a.m.&nbsp; The burial will be at the St. John’s Nepomucene Cemetery in Beardsley, KS on Saturday, April 9, at 4 p.m.

Leon Cook

Retired educator and coach Robert “Bob” Krug left this earth and went to
 his heavenly home on March 24, 2022, at the age of 74, surrounded by 
loved ones who will continue to honor his legacy by living their lives 
to the fullest. Bob was born on November 8, 1947 in Garden City, Kansas 
to Emil Sr. and Eva Krug. Bob was the youngest of three children. Bob 
enjoyed sports, including basketball, baseball and tennis while growing 
up. Graduating from Garden City High School in southwest Kansas in 1965,
 Bob later completed his degree from Emporia State University before 
returning to Garden City to begin a career in education. Bob taught for 
34 years in Garden City before completing his career with seven more 
years in Holcomb. The passion in Bob’s work came from his love for 
teaching, whether in the classroom or on the tennis court. Bob coached 
boys and girls tennis for 26 years. Bob took great delight in coaching 
and teaching, and as a result began a very successful summer tennis 
program that he ran for 34 years. He made many meaningful memories for 
himself and those he taught and coached. In May 2021, Bob and Jane 
returned to Garden City after snowbird season, sold their house and 
began a transition to permanent residency at their home in Largo, 
Florida. 
As an adult Bob enjoyed playing tennis, racquetball, and golf. Bob loved
 watching University of Kansas Jayhawk basketball, he loved guessing 
games, the spirit of sport and ultimately the joy that healthy 
competition provides self and others. Service was an important part of 
Bob’s life. As a member of the First United Methodist Church in Garden 
City, Bob served in many different capacities. He went to Honduras to 
help with water projects seven times, and along with his wife Jane, 
worked with a Volunteers in Mission team for the United Methodist Church
 from 2012-2015, as well as other local service projects over the years.
 He was also a proud U.S. Veteran. Bob owned and operated Krug’s Sport 
Shop from the basement of their home where he provided unique, 
customized service. Bob was known by his family and the tennis community
 for having customer visits during all hours of the day, as this was a 
place for all skill levels to feel welcomed. 
Bob is remembered by his family and many others with his stories, 
laughter, and crazy sayings like “Humma Humma” and “Hello Wall.” He 
drove many, many miles transporting his tennis teams to tournaments, 
staying awake eating sunflower seeds or talking with the player that 
chose the front seat. 
Bob was inducted into the Garden City High School Athletics Hall of Fame
 in December 2021 and was humbled and appreciative of that honor and 
celebration. Bob is lovingly remembered by many he coached, and his 
legacy will live on. 
Bob is survived by his wife Jane, married on July 22, 1972. This July 
they were planning to celebrate their 50th Anniversary with their family
 in Asheville, North Carolina. Bob is also survived by their three 
children Chad, Amanda, and Sarah; daughter-in-law Kate and sons-in-law 
Ryan and Aaron; grandchildren Cole, Addy, Ty, Nora, Asher, and Corbin; 
sister Beverley and brother Emil Jr. and his wife Deandra. He is also 
survived by sister-in-law Doris Rauhut and brother-in-law Ron Matteson 
and his wife Brenda. 
Too humble to admit, Bob had a lot of courage and brought so much joy 
into the world. Bob’s family and friends will celebrate his courage, the
 legacy of his joy and his life with a Celebration of Life service at 
1:00 p.m. on Saturday, April 2, 2022, at the First United Methodist 
Church in Garden City. The service may also be viewed on Facebook Live

 </figure>Retired educator and coach Robert “Bob” Krug left this earth and went to
 his heavenly home on March 24, 2022, at the age of 74, surrounded by 
loved ones who will continue to honor his legacy by living their lives 
to the fullest. Bob was born on November 8, 1947 in Garden City, Kansas 
to Emil Sr. and Eva Krug. Bob was the youngest of three children. Bob 
enjoyed sports, including basketball, baseball and tennis while growing 
up. Graduating from Garden City High School in southwest Kansas in 1965,
 Bob later completed his degree from Emporia State University before 
returning to Garden City to begin a career in education. Bob taught for 
34 years in Garden City before completing his career with seven more 
years in Holcomb. The passion in Bob’s work came from his love for 
teaching, whether in the classroom or on the tennis court. Bob coached 
boys and girls tennis for 26 years. Bob took great delight in coaching 
and teaching, and as a result began a very successful summer tennis 
program that he ran for 34 years. He made many meaningful memories for 
himself and those he taught and coached. In May 2021, Bob and Jane 
returned to Garden City after snowbird season, sold their house and 
began a transition to permanent residency at their home in Largo, 
Florida. 
As an adult Bob enjoyed playing tennis, racquetball, and golf. Bob loved

Robert 'Bob' Krug

Sister Frances Biernacki, 94, died March 28, 2022, in the Dominican 
Sisters’ convent infirmary, Great Bend.&nbsp; She was born February 25, 1928,
 in Garden City, KS, the daughter of Francis and Rose Mary Wolf 
Biernacki.&nbsp; She entered the Dominican Sisters Community in 1943 and 
pronounced vows in 1946.&nbsp; Sister Frances celebrated seventy-five years 
of religious profession in 2021.

Sister Frances’s early ministry was in elementary education, teaching
 in Kansas and Colorado for twelve years.&nbsp; In 1956 she was assigned to 
begin a new mission in Nigeria, and later was instrumental in the 
founding of a Nigerian Dominican congregation, the Sisters of St. 
Catherine of Siena.&nbsp; Her twenty-one years of mission work included 
serving in Kenya and Niger.&nbsp; Between times of service in the missions, 
Sister Frances earned her MSW, ministering in that field for sixteen 
years.&nbsp; She retired to the motherhouse in Great Bend in 2000.

Sister Frances was preceded in death by her parents, five brothers 
(John Fred, Leroy, Edmond, Raymond Charlie, David), and two sisters 
(Rosella Billinger, Evelyn Biernacki).&nbsp;&nbsp; She is survived by a brother 
Ivan Biernacki of Slidell, LA,&nbsp; several nieces and nephews, as well as 
the Dominican Sisters of Peace.&nbsp;

A Vigil Service will be held at 7:00 PM on Wednesday, March 30.&nbsp; The 
Mass of Christian Burial will be at 10:30 AM on Thursday, March 31.&nbsp; 
Both will take place at the Sisters’ Convent.&nbsp; Burial will be in the

Wichita for 22 years.&nbsp;&nbsp; She retired to the motherhouse in Great Bend in 
2004..

Melva Arlene (Rassette) Peirano, 86, of Russell, Kansas, passed away Thursday, March 24, 2022, at the Russell Regional Hospital in Russell, Kansas.&nbsp;

Melva was born August 24, 1935, in Dorrance, Kansas.&nbsp; The daughter of Walter and Minnie (Kaufman) Rassette.&nbsp; She grew up south of Dorrance on a farm and graduated from Dorrance High School with the class of 1953.&nbsp; The summer of her junior and senior year, Melva worked at the Russell State Bank.&nbsp; After graduation, she earned a permanent position and worked there for 35 years.&nbsp; She retired in 1996.&nbsp; Melva married Franklin Dean Peirano on October 17, 1954.&nbsp; They celebrated their 67th wedding anniversary in 2021.&nbsp; Their union was blessed with three children; Alan, Brenda, Curtis.&nbsp; They made their home in Russell, Kansas and retired there.

She was very active in her children's sports during their youth, taught Sunday school at Saint John's Lutheran Church and loved music.&nbsp; She was remembered for teaching her Sunday School classes songs on the autoharp.&nbsp; Melva also played the piano and was the main focus each Christmas with many carols.&nbsp; She assisted with the Brownies and Girl Scout Troups.

Melva is survived by husband Frank of the home: son, Alan Peirano (Pam) of Derby, Kansas, daughter, Brenda (Tom) of Bristol Connecticut, son, Curtis Peirano of Lake Wood, Colorado; sisters, Cleo Plaggerman (Larry) of Salina, Kansas, Pat Schempp (Andy) of Salina, Kansas, and Betty Ehrlich of Russell, Kansas: brother, Don Rassette (Cheryl) of El Paso, Texas; six grandchildren and nine great grandchildren.

Melva was preceded in death by her father Walter and mother Minnie; brother Ronald Rassette, sister Linda Weeks and brother-in-law Leroy Chet Ehrlich.&nbsp;&nbsp;

Celebration of Melva’s Life will be held at 11:00 AM, Friday, April 1, 2022, at the St. John Lutheran Church of Russell.&nbsp; A private burial of ashes will take place at a later date.&nbsp; Visitation will be held from 9:00 AM to 8:00 PM, Thursday, March 31, 2022, at Pohlman-Varner-Peeler Mortuary, with the family present to greet friends from 6:00 PM to 7:00 PM.&nbsp; A

Darryl Dean Bauman, 82, of&nbsp;Greensboro, NC&nbsp;passed away December 30, 
2021, at his Greensboro home.&nbsp;&nbsp;A memorial mass was held Saturday, January 8, 2022, at St. Mary’s Catholic Church in 
Greensboro, NC.&nbsp;&nbsp;

Darryl was born January 7, 1939, in Goodland, KS to Leonard and 
Margaret (Cotter) Bauman.&nbsp;&nbsp;Darryl received his early education in 
Goodland.&nbsp;&nbsp;As a child, he was happy to serve as an altar boy at Sunday 
mass at Our Lady of Perpetual Help Catholic Church.&nbsp;&nbsp;He attended 
Goodland High School where he played football for the Goodland 
Cowboys.&nbsp;&nbsp;Darryl attended college at Kansas State University and was a 
member of Alpha Tau Omega Fraternity.&nbsp;&nbsp;He graduated from Fort Hays State
 University in 1961 with a Bachelor’s Degree in Agriculture.&nbsp;&nbsp;After 
college he joined the United States Army and was stationed in 
Germany.&nbsp;&nbsp;Upon completion of his military service he was employed by the
 United States Department of Labor working in Dodge City, KS, Kansas 
City, MO and Washington, D.C.&nbsp;&nbsp;He retired in 2004.&nbsp;&nbsp;

Mr. Bauman was an active member at Saint Mary’s Catholic Church in 
Greensboro, NC &nbsp;and was a member of the Knights of Columbus.&nbsp;&nbsp;Being a 
member of the Fourth Degree is the highest and most prestigious degree 
within the organization and is awarded to Sir Knights who are dedicated 
to the service of their church, country and order.&nbsp;&nbsp;

He enjoyed watching football, participating in activities with his 
children, refereeing youth soccer games and doing crossword puzzles.&nbsp;&nbsp;He
 liked spending time with his beloved grand-dogs, Teddy and Shadow.&nbsp;&nbsp;

He is survived by his wife, Gloria D. Bauman of the home; sister,

Darryl Dean Bauman

Robert Wayne “Robbie” McGaughey, age 64, went to join his family at 
the “Big Dance” beyond the clouds on March 25, 2022, at Hays Medical 
Center, Hays, Kansas.&nbsp; Robbie was born on April 21, 1957, in Hays, 
Kansas the son of Francis Paul “Frank” and Drewie Elaine (Robertson) 
McGaughey.

Robbie was a member of St. Mary's Catholic Church and the Sons of the
 American Legion Post #59, both of McCracken. He was a graduate of the 
McCracken High School class of 1975. &nbsp;After high school he worked and 
lived on his family’s farm where he raised his two children until 1991 
when his last son was to be born, he moved he and his family back into 
the town of McCracken.

Robbie worked in the oilfield for several companies over the years the longest being Abercrombie Drilling.

He ran “Mule Creek Kennels” where he bred and raised greyhounds, coon
 hounds, and bird dogs, and pack mules. While residing in the town of 
McCracken Robbie, Helena and their family ran “The Main Street Diner” 
until it caught fire in 1999. In 2004 they opened “The Mustang” another 
café where Rob was able to share his culinary talents with his many 
customers including his “Famous Prime Rib and Sunday fried chicken 
dinner buffet” until his health took precedence. For all those that 
truly knew Robbie they knew he had a heart of gold, caring for everyone,
 and making sure no one left his home unfed. He always said “You better 
go get you a plate, cause if your bashful around here all you’re gonna 
leave with is an empty stomach”

On September 1, 1982, he married Helena Showalter in LaCrosse, 
Kansas. She survives of the home. Born to this union were one daughter, 
and two sons, &nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;Ashley McGaughey and her husband, Richard Gonzales, of 
McCracken, Aaron McGaughey and his wife, Lesley, of LaCrosse, and Austin
 McGaughey; &nbsp;his granddogs, Dolly, Arrow, and Lokie, of McCracken; four 
grandchildren, Roman and Serenity Gonzales, Jackson and Lillian 
McGaughey; brothers-in-law, Richard Showalter and Terry Showalter and 
his wife, Helen; one niece, Amanda Showalter, one nephew, Jason 
Showalter, many great nephews, great nieces, and one great great niece, 
cousins, friends, as well as his many beloved canine companions, but 
most especially Toby, Gabby, and Molly.

Robbie was preceded in death by his parents, his cousin Robert Wayne 
Ramsey (whom he was named after), his brother-in-law, Johnny Mac 
Showalter, many aunts, uncles, cousins, his best friend Glenn "Smoe" 
Ryan, and his favorite coon hound Brandy.

A funeral mass will be held at the St Mary's Catholic Church, 
McCracken on Tuesday, March 29, 2022, at 10:30 a.m.&nbsp; followed by burial 
in The McCracken City cemetery. The rosary will be held at the church on
 Monday, March 28, 2022, at 6:00 p.m.

Robert Wayne 'Robbie' McGaughey

Virginia Ann (Hill) Mitchell, 79, of Great Bend, Kansas, passed away Friday, March 25, 2022, at her home.

Virginia was born September 23, 1942, on the family farm in Lincoln County, Kansas.&nbsp; She was the daughter of Harvey H. and Alice M. (Kral) Hill.&nbsp; She grew up in the Dorrance and Wilson area and graduated from Dorrance High School.

Virginia was united in marriage to Fredrick O. Mitchell, Sr. on January 29, 1961, in Russell.&nbsp; This union was blessed with three sons; Fredrick, Jr., Martin and Jason.&nbsp; They moved around some early in their marriage before moving to Great Bend in 1972.&nbsp; Fredrick preceded her in death on September 19, 2019.

Virginia was a devoted wife and homemaker for her sons.&nbsp; She was an active member in the First Church of the Nazarene in Great Bend and also taught Sunday school classes.&nbsp; She loved gardening, canning and cooking.&nbsp; She always had a love for cats.

Virginia’s surviving family include her two sons, Fredrick Mitchell, Jr. of Great Bend, Kansas and Martin Mitchell (Kathey) of Great Bend, Kansas; brother, Mark Hill (Debra) of Wilson, Kansas; sisters, Patricia Schnur (Bob) of Butler, Pennsylvania, Bonita Buehler of Russell, Kansas and Terry Soukup (Jerry) of Wilson, Kansas; three grandchildren, Trinity Mitchell, Ashley Stanley and Chelsea Morris (Levi); and four great grandchildren, Charlotte Stanley, Peter Stanley, Claire Stanley and Warren Morris.

Virginia was preceded in death by her parents, husband Fredrick, son Jason John Mitchell and brother Roger Hill, and grandson-in-law Thomas Stanley

Celebration of Virginia’s Life will be held at 10:30 AM, Thursday, March 31, 2022, at the First Church of the Nazarene of Great Bend.&nbsp; A Graveside service will be held at 2:00 PM, Thursday at the Russell City Cemetery in Russell.&nbsp; The family will be present to greet friends from 9:30 AM to Service time Thursday at the Church.&nbsp;

Diana "Diane" Lee Roat, 62, passed away peacefully surrounded by 
family on March&nbsp;26th, 2022. She was born February&nbsp;12, 1960 at Wichita, 
Kansas, to James Andrew Roat and Doris Verlea (Lemon) Roat.

She was a 1978 graduate of Great Bend High School. She was a past 
correctional officer at GEO Lawton correctional Facility in Lawton, 
Oklahoma and later at Larned Correctional Mental Health Facility in 
Larned. Diane was well respected by her coworker as well as the inmates,
 She was know to run a tight ship. Diane was a certified ventriloquist 
earning her first "dummy" from the Nazarene Church in Great Bend for 
memorizing all the Books of the Bible, she was also an avid Kansas City 
Chiefs Fan and will be missed by all who knew her.

She is survived by her mother, Doris of rural Seward; a brother, 
David (Tracy) of Great Bend; two nephews, Jesse Roat (Brittany) of 
Hoisington and Trenton Roat and companion Kat Allen of Great Bend; and 
four nieces Kristin Roat of Great Bend, DJ (Nick) Miller of Great Bend, 
Chelsey West of Hays and Kayla (James) Godfrey of Hoisington; four great
 nephews and 3 great nieces; and her fur-babies Boo, Elton and Emma. 
Diane was proceeded in death by her father, James; two brothers, Jimmy 
and Darin; a nephew, Travis Roat; and a sister in law Karla J. Roat 
Neiman.

Visitation will be held from 10:00 a.m. to 8:00 p.m., Wednesday, 
March 30, 2022, at Bryant Funeral Home, with family to receive friends 
from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. Funeral Serrvice will be held at 2:00 p.m., 
Thursday, March 31, 2022, at Bryant Funeral Home with Pastor Jeff 
Johnson presiding. Interment will be in the Hoisington Cemetery.

Our precious and beautiful little angel, Madison Baylor Spears, passed away in the embrace of family on March 24, 2022.
 Madison was born January 4, 2022 to Devin and Mercedes Spears, 
joining siblings Abigail, Maverick, Harper, and Emma. Despite her short
 time on earth, she was destined for great things, deeply loved and 
brought immense joy to all those around her. 
 Madison will be forever remembered and loved by her parents, Devin 
and Mercedes Spears, her siblings, Emma, Harper, Maverick, and Abigail 
as well as her grandparents, Douglas and Tammy Spears, Randy and Cindy 
Burton. Great grandparents; Peggy Strahm, Marilyn Burton, William and

He attended Angelus and Grinnell schools and graduated in 1962. When he was in high school, he worked as a farm hand and at the elevator. Later, he worked in Summit County, CO as a land surveyor. He took great pride in telling people that he helped lay out the ski runs in Keystone, Copper Mountain and Vail ski resorts. Later he moved his family to Aurora CO where he worked for the City of Aurora and he laid out the curb and gutter for the Aurora Mall and other city buildings. In 1981, he brought his family to Oakley where he and Janice owned and operated the Sears Catalog store until it was closed by Sears 11 years later. He then purchased Gene's OK Tire and ran it as an appliance and tire shop&nbsp;that&nbsp;he named Hometown Tire and Appliance. In retirement, he enjoyed salvaging metals, gambling and traveling. Recently he enjoyed spending time with his coffee buddies at the Buffalo Bill Cultural Center each afternoon. He was a member of St. Joseph Church, 3rd and 4th Degree, Knights of Columbus, Oakley, Ks. He married Janice (Hockersmith)&nbsp;Huelsman&nbsp;on July 15, 1967, at St. Joseph Church, Oakley,&nbsp;Ks. He is survived by his wife, Janice, of the home; their daughter, Lisa&nbsp;Unrein&nbsp;and husband Brad, Hays, KS; son, Randall&nbsp;Huelsman&nbsp;and wife Cheryl, of Gardner, KS; 6 grandchildren; 2 step-grandchildren; 3 step-greatgrandchildren;&nbsp;Brothers:&nbsp;Eugene, of Beloit, KS, Donald and wife Cheryl, of Grinnell, KS, and Sam, of Ft. He is survived by his wife, Janice, of the home; their daughter, Lisa&nbsp;Unrein&nbsp;and husband Brad, Hays, KS; son, Randall&nbsp;Huelsman&nbsp;and wife Cheryl, of Gardner, KS; 6 grandchildren; 2 step-grandchildren; 3 step-greatgrandchildren;&nbsp;Brothers:&nbsp;Eugene, of Beloit, KS, Donald and wife Cheryl, of Grinnell, KS, and Sam, of Ft. Collins, CO; sisters, Francine and husband James Robben, Maxine, and husband Jerry Robben and Helen Carr, all of Oakley, KS He was preceded in death by his parents, Frank and Anna Marie&nbsp;Huelsman; a nephew, Justin Robben; niece, Donna Jo&nbsp;Woofter; a nephew Mason&nbsp;Hockersmith; sister-in-law, Mary Lou&nbsp;Huelsman; brothers-in-law, Jerry&nbsp;Hockersmith, Harvey&nbsp;Hockersmith, Leroy Maier and Delbert Garrett. Loretta Sue Stoecklein, 68, passed away on March 24, 2022, at the 
Ascension Via Christi Hospital, St. Francis Campus in Wichita, Kansas. 
She was born on June 24, 1953, in Hays, Kansas, the daughter of Albert 
and Henrietta (Peterson) Moeder.

Memorial service will be on Saturday, April 2, 2022, 1:00 p.m., at 
the Sacred Heart Church, Ness City. Followed by inurnment in the Sacred 
Heart Cemetery. A Rosary will be held at Fitzgerald Funeral Home, Ness 
City on Friday, April 1, 2022, 6:30 p.m.
