Arthur R. “Art” Armbrister, age 91, of 
Zurich, Kansas passed away Monday, August 22, 2022, at Redbud Village in 
Plainville, Kansas. Art was born November 6, 1930, in Ellis County to 
Christian “Christ” and Hilda (Rumpel) Armbrister. On July 22, 1956, he 
married Jacqueline “Jacque” &nbsp;Joan Westwood in Woodston, Kansas. She 
preceded him in death on December 21, 1998. 
Art was a lifelong Farmer and Rancher and truly embraced farm life. When
 he took time off, he enjoyed his time with his grandchildren and great 
grandchildren. Art was a US Army Veteran. He also enjoyed dancing and 
attending dances. He served on church council and was extremely proud of
 the latest addition that was added to St. John’s. 
Art is survived by his son, Gary Armbrister and wife Marsha of Zurich; a
 daughter, Denise Wilson and husband Mitch of Abilene, Kansas; a 
brother, Curtis Armbrister and wife, Karen of Wichita; grandchildren, 
Courtney Wilson (fiance', Colin Tipton), Nicole (Luke) Goodenow, Janay 
(Dylan) Crosson, Seth (Hunter) Armbrister and Dustin (Kaedyn) Wilson as 
well as great grandchildren, Grady, Lincoln and Reagyn Crosson, Waylynn 
and Walker Armbrister. 
He was preceded in death by his parents, his wife, a sister, Marjorie 
Holland and infant twin brothers, Raymon and Arnold Armbrister. 
Funeral services will be 10:30 AM Saturday, August 27, 2022, at St. John 
Lutheran Church in Ellis. Burial with military honors will follow in the
 church cemetery. 
Visitation will be Friday 6 PM – 7:30 PM with a prayer service at 7:30 
PM at Keithley Funeral Chapel, 400 E. 17th, Ellis, KS 67637. 
Visitation on Saturday will be 9:30 AM until service time at the church. 
Memorial contributions are suggested to St. John Lutheran Church or the Bukovina Society.

Dennis R. Murphy, age 72, passed away on Tuesday, August 16, 2022, at
 his home in Scott City, Kansas.&nbsp; He was born on May 11, 1950, in 
Ransom, Kansas, the son of Robert Joseph and Betty Lee Hemel Murphy Sr.&nbsp;
 A resident of Scott City, Kansas since 2002 moving from Northern 
California, he was a retired parts manager for Roto-Mix of Scott City.

Survivors include his One Son - Joseph N. Murphy of Whitehall, 
Montana, Five Brothers - Larry &amp; Marlene Murphy of Scott City, 
Kansas, Robert &amp; Pam Murphy of Scott City, Kansas, Charles &amp; 
Gail Murphy of Scott City, Kansas, Melvin &amp; Denise Murphy of Olathe,
 Kansas, Ronald Murphy of Scott City, Three&nbsp;Sisters&nbsp; -&nbsp; Kathy &amp; Curt

Randy Lee Tinkel, 37, of Wamego, Kansas, passed away, August 10, 2022, as the result of an automobile accident east of Wamego. &nbsp;

Randy was born January 24, 1985, in Great Bend, Kansas, the son of Darrell and Carma (Juergensen) Tinkel.&nbsp;&nbsp;Randy was a graduate of Great Bend High School where he was a standout athlete and he attended Barton County Community College as well as Manhattan Technical College. Randy loved to play sports all the way into his adult years. Within the past 5 years, Randy took up golf and was the captain of the WCC K-Cup team. His passion for golf trickled down to Korbin, and most of their time together was spent on the course. As an avid outdoorsman, Randy also enjoyed hunting and participating in coyote hunting contests.

Randy was the owner and operator of RT Trucking in Wamego and had become very well known in the area for his driveway and decorative rock business. Randy had a true passion for his business and was proud of all he had accomplished.

Randy married Jillian Crystal Schroeder on September 24, 2011, in Manhattan.&nbsp; She survives at their home.

Randy is survived by his son, Krew, also of the home; and his father, Darrell Tinkel, Great Bend. Father-in-law, Jeff Schroeder and partner Becky May, Brother-in-law, Jared Schroeder, Manhattan, Brother-in-law Josh Schroeder and wife Becky, Manhattan and numerous aunts, uncles and cousins.&nbsp; Randy was preceded in death by his mother Carma as well as his Mother-in-law Rhonda.

Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 6:00 p.m., Monday, August 29, 2022, at St. Bernard Catholic Church in Wamego.&nbsp; Father Mike Peterson will be the Celebrant. Burial will follow at St. Bernard Catholic Cemetery.&nbsp; A rosary prayer service will be held at 5:30 p.m.

Korbin Ray Tinkel, 7 years old, of Wamego, Kansas, passed away August 13, 2022, at Children’s Mercy Hospital in Kansas City, Missouri. Korbin became a hero that day, donating his organs to 5 other individuals. Korbin’s caring heart allowed others to live on through him.

Korbin was born April 19, 2015, in Manhattan, Kansas, the son of Randy and Jillian (Schroeder) Tinkel. He was a second grader at Central Elementary School in Wamego and now a forever Super Raider.

Korbin was very active and loved playing golf. He won several junior golf tournaments for his age group this past summer and loved spending time at the golf course with his Dad. Korbin also enjoyed spending time around his Dad’s big trucks and any other type of equipment that might be around, eager to learn as much as he possibly could. In addition to golf, Korbin loved swimming, playing soccer and baseball, and especially wrestling with his little brother Krew. Korbin loved going to church with his Daddy and was a member of St. Bernard Catholic Church with his family.

Korbin is survived by his mother, Jillian and brother, Krew, Wamego; his grandfather, Darrell Tinkel, Great Bend; grandfather, Jeff Schroeder and partner Becky May, Manhattan; Uncle Jared and Uncle Josh Schroeder (Becky), Manhattan; as well as many other cousins, extended family, and friends.

Carolyn Nan Tyrrell Lundin&nbsp; December 12th 1947- August 20th 2022&nbsp;

Born to Charles “Chuck” and Denelda Tyrrell in Goodland, Kansas.&nbsp;&nbsp;

As a child, she attended school in Goodland, while in school she loved
 playing piano, being a baton twirler, and playing in the band. She 
graduated from Sherman County Highschool in 1965. She had met the love 
of her life, Dale Lundin while in school. When they met, Dale told his 
friend “I’m going to marry that girl someday,” and that very next year 
they were married on June 27th, 1965. They spent 57 wonderful years 
together.&nbsp;&nbsp;

Dale and Carolyn spent many happy years with friends riding mopeds, 
going to the lake, and cruising around with friends. Together they lived
 in Goodland, Colby, and Salina, Kansas.&nbsp;

In 1966, they welcomed their oldest daughter Kindra “Kindi,” and in 
1969 they welcomed their second daughter Traci. Carolyn was then a 
stay-at-home mom where she opened an in-home daycare. She was also an 
amazing seamstress. She made many of her daughter’s outfits, prom 
dresses, and even their wedding dresses. When her children were in 
school full time in 1978, she went to work at Anchor Savings Association
 Bank and that was the beginning of a 43-year banking career, until she 
retired in 2021. She loved meeting new people and was always known for 
her kind smile and her contagious laugh.&nbsp;

Once Carolyn became a grandmother, she was from then on referred to 
as “Nana”. Nana loved spending time with her 5 Grandchildren. She was 
also very&nbsp;excited for her new Great Grandson due in November. She went 
to all of her Grandchildren and Great-Grandchildren’s events and she 
loved to cheer them all on no matter what they decided to do. She was 
always the holiday planner with the best foods and silly games. Nana was
 known for her popcorn balls, pumpkin bread, broccoli cheese soup, and 
her famous fried chicken and mashed potatoes. She also loved to laugh, 
mostly at Dale’s expense. It never mattered to Nana what the 
conversation was as long as her family was together. She loved her 
family more than anything in the world and would do anything for them. 
She was the best “Nana” anyone could ask for. She never missed an 
occasion, a birthday, an anniversary, you name it, there was always a 
card that read “Love you bunches, Nana and Papa."

Later in life, Nana loved to watch baseball and football, she loved 
the Royals and the Chiefs, unless the Broncos were playing, then she 
rooted for them, because, let’s face it, the Chiefs??? Her family loved 
her despite her and Dale’s choice of football team. She loved to play 
cards with the other women “her homies” as she referred to them as, that
 lived near her in Salina in their cul-de-sac. She also loved to 
facetime and snapchat with her long-distance family. Nana was always an 
avid animal lover. She loved all of the family’s pets and with her calm 
and loving demeanor they all loved her back.&nbsp;&nbsp;

Nana was preceded in death by her parents Charles “Chuck” and Denelda
 Tyrrell, Son in Law Lyn Gurtner, Daughter Traci Gurtner, and 2 
Grandchildren, Bryce and Katelyn Farmer. &nbsp;

She is survived by her Husband Dale Lundin of Goodland KS, Daughter 
Kindra “Kindi” (Chris) Bauman, 5 Grandchildren, Amanda Gurtner, Tanner 
(Ashley) Gurtner, Jessica (Zach) Lohr, Lindsay (Steven) Mendoza, Tanzia 
(May) Wilson, 8 Great-Grandchildren- Dominic and NovaLyn VanBrimmer, 
Landon Vernon and Henry Gurtner, Alivia and Liam Lohr, Baby “N” Mendoza 
due to arrive November 2022, and SparrowLyn and Raven Wilson. &nbsp;

A private family celebration of life is planned at a later date.

Imogene Mae Thornburg was born on Sept 12, 1929, at a rural farm east of Osborne. She was the second oldest of six children born to her parents, Francis &amp; Matilda (Hageman) Foster. She graduated from Baker County School District 12 in 1943 and from Osborne High School in 1947. She married her high school sweetheart, Franklin Eugene “Gene” Thornburg on Sept 12, 1948—her 19th birthday. 

They resided in Osborne until November 1959 when they moved to a farm southwest of Alton where they raised three children, Jeannie Renee (Steve) Ricard, Todd Eugene (Jill) Thornburg, and Janet Rae (Bernie) Schulte. Seven grandchildren added an abundance of joy to their lives: Jordan (Kari) Ricard, Samantha (Nathan) Ricard, Ashley Thornburg, Erin (Deavon) Thornburg, Janae (Nate) Flesher, Bransen &amp; Braden Schulte. Two great grandchildren &amp; two step great grandchildren complete their family.
 Imogene went to be with Jesus on August 19th. She resided on the family farm as long as she could before moving to Progressive Care in Alton and later to Parkview in Osborne. She missed the farm and the Alton community and longed to be there. She was known for her love of family and community. She was an avid supporter at athletic &amp; school events, served as treasure on many clubs and organizations, sent hundreds of greeting cards, and was always ready to mix up a batch of her famous chocolate chip cookies and Rice Krispy treats.
 Imogene was a member of the Pleasant Plains United Methodist Church, UMW, Alton Pride, a 4-year instructor for a Menninger Bible course on the Life of Christ, Mt. Ayr Camp Meeting Board, Sumner 4-H Club Leader, Osborne County FSA committee advisor, and Eastern Star, serving as the past matron.
 She was preceded in death by her husband in 2016; her parents; sisters Ila Joy in infancy and Iris Hahn; brothers Farrel Foster and Raymond Foster, brothers-in-law Jay Hudson, Clifford Hahn, Ted (Marvelene) Thornburg, Leroy Thornburg, and Stan Swander; sister-in law, Elaine Thornburg.
 Imogene is survived by her children, grandchildren and great grandchildren, sister Sandy Hudson of Osborne, sisters-in-law Karen Foster of Bloomington, Merna Foster of Osborne, Shirley Swander of Salina, Helen Thornburg of Hutchinson, Donna (Dan) Crofford of Oklahoma, and brother-in-law Dick (Dee) Thornburg also of Oklahoma, in addition to many nieces, nephews, friends and other relatives.&nbsp;

Orland “Slim” Ochs Jr., died August 1, 2022, at Clara Barton 
Hospital, Hoisington, Kansas.&nbsp; He was born November 11, 1951, in Hays, 
Kansas, the son of Orland and Fern (Crotinger) Ochs.&nbsp;

Orland served in the Army from 1973 to 1977, where he earned the rank of SP5 with the 101st
 Airborne Division and was also awarded the Sharpshooter M-16 badge.&nbsp; 
During his time in the Army, he was stationed in Germany and various 
bases all over the United States.&nbsp;

Upon his honorable discharge he returned home and worked as a truck 
driver. Driving for Jack B. Kelly Trucking.&nbsp; He later worked in the 
maintantance department and as a security guard for CKMC and then 
Superior Essex.

Orland was most often seen riding around in his favorite old truck on
 his many ag tours and tinkering on the farm. The farm was his happiest 
place to be whether it was on the mower or fixing one of his many 
project engines. He was a selfless man giving to many charities, not 
wanting much for himself, and preferring to live a simple life. He was 
also known to leave a treasure of loose change in his wake.&nbsp;

He is survived by two sisters; Charlotte (Ron) Schneider of Great 
Bend, and Linda (Alan) Bartonek of Salina; six nieces and nephews, Scott
 (Sharon) Long of Onega, Mike (Dana) Long of Lincoln, Nebraska, Shannon 
(Orleny) Schneider of Pueblo, Colorado, Charla Schnieder and Dan 
Bartonek, both of Great Bend, and Lynae (Greg) Curtis, of Hoisington; 
and many great and great-great neices and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents and a sister, Margaret Long.

Friends may sign the book, there will be no viewing as cremation has 
taken place. Family will greet friends from 6 to 8 p.m., Friday, 
September 2 nd, at Nicholson-Ricke Funeral Home.

Memorial&nbsp; Service will be 11:00 a.m., Saturday, September 3, 2022, at
 Community Christian Church, Great Bend, Kansas, with Pastor Jon Hembree

Rachel Ilene Favinger, 87 of Smith Center, KS passed away Saturday 
August 20, 2022, in Smith Center, KS. Rachel was born November 27, 1934,&nbsp; in Smith Center to Henry and Daisy Tuxhorn. Rachel was married to 
Leonard Favinger for 62 years. Rachel was a born seamstress, she took 
this on as a career from 1969 to 2000 at Peterson Industry. When she 
retired, you could still find her with some sort of sewing project. She
 enjoyed crochet doilies, embroidering tea towels for all her children 
and grandchildren, quilting, custom projects her family would come up 
with and she was the seamstress for Newborns in Need in Springfield, MO.
 
 Rachel is preceded in death by husband Leonard Favinger, siblings; 
Roma Fristoe, Jenny Weaver, Leo Tuxhorn, Walden Tuxhorn, Delmer Lee 
Tuxhorn, Lyold Favinger, Dean Favinger, and Dean Weaver, Parents; Henry 
and Daisy Tuxhorn, In Laws; Sylvester and Inze (Kelling) Favigner. 
 She is survived by her children June and (Dennis) McElderry of 
Springfield, MO, Donna Favinger of Smith Center, Mitch (Yvon) Favinger

Rachel Ilene Favinger

No one loved life, family or adventures more than Darryl Vohs. He went 
to his eternal rest on Sunday, August 21, 2022, to join his parents. 
Darryl was born on March 27, 1961, at Smith Center, Kansas to Bernard and
 Roberta (Rickert) Vohs. 
 Darryl was in the class of 1979 at West Smith County High School. 
After high school he worked at Cessna as a machinist. Darryl then found
 his calling as an electrician. He attended Beloit Vocational School to
 study electricity. Darryl then went on to get his Journeyman and his 
Master License in electricity. After working as a lineman, he started 
his dream which was Vohs Electric Inc in 1995.
 In 1984 he married the love of his life, Gayle. Gayle and Darryl 
started their life together in Concordia. In 1991, they moved to Smith 
Center where Gayle continues to live. 
 Darryl was a person who loved the outdoors and adventures. As a kid 
on the farm, Darryl could build anything from parts he would find laying
 around. Later in life his passion was motorcycles. Road, dual purpose 
and motocross, Darryl loved them all. Darryl and Gayle took many trips 
in their van with the motorcycles in the trailer behind. Moab, Utah, was
 Darryl’s favorite place to ride and that is where he wishes for his 
ashes to be scattered. Darryl designed and built many projects and was 
still planning more projects as soon as he got better. Darryl never gave
 up and still had plans to be out on his motorcycle riding. 
 Even while struggling with issues from the treatment for leukemia 
Darryl continued to enjoy camping, fishing and canoeing. Darryl went as 
far as paddling with his portable oxygen generator. Darryl made many 
fans, CNA.s, nurses and doctors because of the fact that he never 
complained through all of his treatments at numerous hospitals and 
clinics. Even as Darryl struggled to breath, his family was amazed by 
his sense of humor that brought smiles to others. 
 Darryl will join his parents Bernard and Roberta Vohs along with nephew Jeremy Johnson in Heaven. 
 He is survived by Gayle, his wife of 38 years, siblings, Bernadine 
(Larry) Siemens, Carolyn (Mark) Johnson, Wanda (Lorrie) Opdahl, Eldon 
(Dottie) Vohs, and Rodney (Maria) Vohs along with many nieces and 
nephews.

Janice S. Wiersma

Kay Marie Rush passed away on August 20, 2022, at the KU Medical Center 
in Kansas City at the age of 80. She was born in Madison, Wisconsin to 
Frederick and Elaine (Selanski) Lehmann on February 16, 1942. Kay was 
united in marriage to Max Leon Rush on March 5, 1960, in Madison, 
Wisconsin. The couple was blessed with two children: James and Gail.
 Kay spent most of her life as a homemaker, taking care of her 
children and the home. She and her family moved several times, managing 
apartment buildings with her husband from Kansas to Wisconsin, all the 
way to Tennessee and returned to their roots in Kansas where they lived 
out the rest of their days.

She thoroughly enjoyed the time spent with 
her grandchildren and great-grandchildren, as well as her beloved dog, 
Brodie (lovingly nicknamed “Boyfriend”). Kay was a member of the United 
Methodist Church in Stockton.
 Those left to cherish her memory are her children, James Rush of 
Omak, VA, Gail (Bradford) Hill of Stockton, KS; brother, Mike (Jill) 
Lehmann of Trego, WI; six grandchildren, Matt Rush, Nolan (Amanda) Hill,

It is with deep sorrow that we announce the death of Shirley Munson Pfeifer born in Hays, Kansas, on August 5, 1929, who passed away on August 12, 2022, at the age of 93, leaving family and friends to celebrate her life.&nbsp;

Shirley is survived by: her husband, Wilbert; her children, Scott and Annette; her step-children, Rick (Karen); Jan; Dale; and Lynne (Rich).&nbsp; She was blessed with her grandchildren, Sarah; Ross (Hannah); Katherine (Terry);&nbsp;Chrisi; Mike and Leah; and her great grandchildren, Grant; Luke; and Benjamin.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Edward J. and Arbutus (Wise) Wilson; her brother, Jerry; her husband, Robert; and her daughter, Diana.

Shirley graduated from Fort Hays State University where she was also a sorority member.&nbsp; She loved her 30 year teaching career at USD 489 in Hays and contributed her time, treasure and talents to many organizations.&nbsp;

She loved her family and animals, and enjoyed visiting with friends, tap dancing, singing in the St. Joseph choir and serving as a Eucharistic Minister, delivering Meals on Wheels, reading, art, playing Bridge and pinochle.

Shirley's family will receive guests from 1:00 P.M. until service time at the church. Mass of Christian Burial will be at 2:00 P.M. Friday, August 26, 2022, at St. Joseph Catholic Church, 13th and Ash Street, Hays, Kansas, with Father Rich Daise officiating. Inurnment will be in St. Joseph Cemetery, Hays, Kansas.&nbsp; &nbsp; &nbsp; &nbsp; &nbsp;

Elmer J. Klein, age 88, of Wichita, Kansas, died Friday, August 19, 2022, at the Kansas Heart Hospital, Wichita, Kansas.

He was born March 13, 1934, at Pfeifer, Kansas, to Adam and Magdalena (Breit) Klein. &nbsp;He married Lila Mae (Sander) on April 18, 1953, at Victoria, Kansas. &nbsp;She preceded him in death on September 15, 2019.

Elmer worked at Boeing for 33 years and retired in 1991. &nbsp;He was a member of St. Francis of Assisi Catholic Church in Wichita, Kansas and a Knights of Columbus member. &nbsp;He grew up in Pfeifer, Kansas, attended the Pfeifer Grade School and was a graduate of&nbsp;Schoenchen&nbsp;High School. &nbsp;Elmer and Lila loved traveling around the country after he retired. &nbsp;One of his favorite pastimes was watching K State and K U games as well as K C Royals and K C Chiefs. &nbsp;

Survivors include his sons, Ronald Klein and Randall Klein, both of Wichita, KS; his &nbsp;daughters, Joan Green, Cindy Reyes, Roseanne Klein,&nbsp;Gaylee&nbsp;Aipperspach&nbsp;and husband Alan, all of Wichita, KS; his sister, Josepha Dome, Hays, KS; his 12 grandchildren; and his 18 great grandchildren. &nbsp;

He was preceded in death by his&nbsp;parents; his wife; his brothers, Sylvester;&nbsp;Sylvanius; Victor;&nbsp;Alvin “Pinky”;&nbsp;and his sisters, Irene Jacobs and Helen Dome.&nbsp;

Mass of Christian Burial will be at 10:00 A.M. Thursday, August 25, 2022, at Holy Cross Catholic Church, Pfeifer, Kansas with Father James Moster O.F.M. Cap. officiating. &nbsp;Burial will be in Holy Cross Cemetery, Pfeifer, Kansas.

Mayra Elizabeth Lucero, 17, died Wednesday, August 17, 2022, at Wesley 
Medical Center in Wichita, Kansas. She was born May 18, 2005, in Garden
 City, Kansas the daughter of Fannie Rios and Mark Lucero. 
 Mayra has been a lifetime resident of Garden City. She attended 
Garden City schools and graduated from Garden City High School on May 
14, 2022. She graduated early and was ready for college at Fort Hays 
State University to pursue her career as a nurse, in order to save 
lives. Mayra was loving, caring and most outgoing. She never held a 
grudge and always looked ahead in life.

Mayra was a sister, niece, 
daughter, and a friend who always looked out for everyone. She was the 
humblest teen and always made sure to put others first. She was 
extremely excited for college and her number 1 goal in life was to 
become a Registered Nurse to be able to take care of her mom and others 
in need. Mayra left this world as the hero she wanted to be by saving 
the lives of others as an organ donor. That’s exactly what she died; 
she saved 4 loves when she gained her wings. 
 Mayra’s hobbies include dancing, singing, swimming, and making Tik 
Tok videos. She also loved spending time with her friends and family. 
 Survivors include her mother Fannie Rios of Garden City; her father
 Mark Lucero of Garden City; two brothers Joshua Perez and Bryan Rios of
 Garden City; two sisters Jasmine Castillo and Brianna “BB” Rios of 
Garden City; her grandparents Diana Gonzales and Manuel Rios of Garden

Mayra Elizabeth Lucero

Diane Edith Rogers Vap, 78, of Atwood, passed away on August 21, 2022, 
in North Platte, surrounded by her family. She was born March 20, 1944, 
in Bell, CA on the corner of Atlantic and Gage to Alden and Edith 
(Kersenbrock) Rogers, she just couldn't wait to get started on this 
amazing life. After WWII was over, Alden, Edith and Diane came back to 
Atwood to live on the Rogers farm. 

Diane attended the Atwood schools, 
graduating from high school in 1962. She then went on to Wesley School 
of Nursing where she earned her RN license in 1965. On August 28, 1965, 
she married her high school sweetheart, John F Vap, at Travis AFB, CA, 
where he was stationed. To this union two daughters, Nancy and 
Stephanie, were born. Diane was a loving wife, mother, grandmother, 
sister, and friend to all. 
Diane's passion for nursing went beyond the clinics and hospitals where 
she was employed. She would care for anyone at any time where a nurse 
was needed, touching many hearts and lives of the people she knew, loved
 and cared for. Their lives were better for having had her care. Diane 
touched the lives of so many people, patients, and their families during
 her nursing career. She worked all areas of nursing, from OB to 
Hospice, even the occasional farm nursing when Nancy or Steph got hurt 
or needed that extra band-aid. She loved going to the cabin in Red 
Feather Lakes, CO, and fishing at the lakes.

She enjoyed spending 
holidays with family, baking goodies (especially cookies) for grandkids 
and making sure John was eating the right veggies for his health. She 
enjoyed playing bridge, hosting card parties, and visiting friends. She 
loved to sew, making formals and wedding dresses for her daughters (only
 one for Steph, more for Nancy). She loved to watch sports, cheering for
 her kids and grandkids in whatever they participated in. She loved to 
watch KU basketball, college football, golf, volleyball, swimming, and 
baseball. If she had a kid or grandkid in the game, she was there 
cheering them on whenever possible. She loved sunflowers, Christmas, 
reading historical fiction, collecting angels and her sisters. 
Diane was preceded in death by her parents, Alden and Edith Rogers. She 
is survived by her husband John, of Atwood; daughters Nancy (Larry 
Tien), of Prairie View KS and Stephanie (Sean) Walsh, of Aurora CO; 
grandchildren, Alexandria Walker, Padraic and Ronan Walsh and Ilyana 
Walker (great); sisters Donna (Bill) Roe, of Atchison KS, Darlene 
(Lloyd) Irwin, of Albuquerque NM, Joyce (Russ) Shreves, Wichita KS and 
Joann Luedke Lenexa KS; many nieces, nephews, and friends. 
Funeral Mass is 10:00 a.m. Friday, August 26, 2022, at Sacred Heart 
Catholic Church, Atwood, with burial in Sts. Cyril and Methodius

Mary Ellen Gross

Delores Mae Zollman was born on July 3, 1932, in a rural farm house, 
northwest Long Island, Kansas, to Raymond (Ray) Edward Nyland and 
Angeline Adriana Van Greuningen Nyland. She was baptized and received 
full membership in the Christian faith at the Prairie View Reformed 
Church in Prairie View, Kansas. Delores married Carl John Zollman on 
July 15, 1952, at the Reformed Church in Prairie View, Kansas, and to 
this union three daughters were born: Peggy Jo (November 25, 1953), 
Connie Jean (February 13, 1955), and Carla June (November 4, 1958).

Delores attended Grade School and High School in Prairie View, Kansas
 where she graduated in the year 1950. She worked at her Uncle Walt’s 
Grocery store when she was in high school. During High School, she met 
her future husband, Carl, at a carnival. After graduation she worked for
 the telephone office (Southwestern Bell) in Norton, Kansas. She married
 her high school sweetheart in 1952 and they made their home in rural 
Phillips County.

Delores was an active member of the Emmanuel Lutheran Church of 
Stuttgart. She was a busy homemaker and farmer’s wife. She made her very
 popular Grandma Zollman pancakes for the grandkids. She was a 
self-taught seamstress and made all three wedding dresses for her three 
daughters including bridesmaid, flower girl dresses, and mother of the 
bride dresses. She worked at Dorothy’s Fabric and The Pin Cushion where 
she continued to make outfits for her grandchildren and many beautiful 
outfits for her only granddaughter, Stephenie. She made lovely and 
endearing quilts for each daughter and each grandchild.

Delores is survived by her husband Carl of the home; her three 
daughters Peggy (Howard) King of Phillipsburg, Kansas, Connie (Steve) 
Henderson of Ankeny, Iowa, Carla (Jim) Maneth of Great Bend, Kansas,

 </figure>Delores Mae Zollman was born on July 3, 1932, in a rural farm house, 
northwest Long Island, Kansas, to Raymond (Ray) Edward Nyland and 
Angeline Adriana Van Greuningen Nyland. She was baptized and received 
full membership in the Christian faith at the Prairie View Reformed 
Church in Prairie View, Kansas. Delores married Carl John Zollman on 
July 15, 1952, at the Reformed Church in Prairie View, Kansas, and to 
this union three daughters were born: Peggy Jo (November 25, 1953), 
Connie Jean (February 13, 1955), and Carla June (November 4, 1958).Delores attended Grade School and High School in Prairie View, Kansas
 where she graduated in the year 1950. She worked at her Uncle Walt’s 
Grocery store when she was in high school. During High School, she met 
her future husband, Carl, at a carnival. After graduation she worked for
 the telephone office (Southwestern Bell) in Norton, Kansas. She married
 her high school sweetheart in 1952 and they made their home in rural 
Phillips County.Delores was an active member of the Emmanuel Lutheran Church of 
Stuttgart. She was a busy homemaker and farmer’s wife. She made her very
 popular Grandma Zollman pancakes for the grandkids. She was a 
self-taught seamstress and made all three wedding dresses for her three 
daughters including bridesmaid, flower girl dresses, and mother of the 
bride dresses. She worked at Dorothy’s Fabric and The Pin Cushion where 
she continued to make outfits for her grandchildren and many beautiful 
outfits for her only granddaughter, Stephenie. She made lovely and 
endearing quilts for each daughter and each grandchild.Delores is survived by her husband Carl of the home; her three 
daughters Peggy (Howard) King of Phillipsburg, Kansas, Connie (Steve) 
Henderson of Ankeny, Iowa, Carla (Jim) Maneth of Great Bend, Kansas,

Wanda
 LaJoyce (Bryant) Campbell, age 100, of Lenexa, Kansas, passed away 
Sunday, August 21, 2022. Funeral services will be held Friday, August 
26, at Porter Funeral Home, 8535 Monrovia, Lenexa, KS at 1:00.&nbsp; There 
will be no visitation prior to the service.

Wanda was born in Waring, Pennsylvania,&nbsp; to Charles F and Chessie (Kirk) Bryant.&nbsp; The family moved to Okmulgee, 
Oklahoma, when she was a baby. Her brother Bud was born a couple years 
later.&nbsp; Wanda graduated from Okmulgee High School and briefly attended 
the local junior college before she secretly eloped with her boyfriend 
and future husband Jack Campbell.&nbsp; After a brief time in Virginia while 
Jack served in the Coast Guard, they returned to Okmulgee. In 1949, the 
family moved to Kansas City and raised their son Victor and daughter 
Cheryl there.&nbsp; When her husband passed in 1990, Wanda moved to Lakeview 
Village where she lived until she passed.

Wanda was a stay-at-home mom until her 
children were in high school.&nbsp; She then applied her ample secretarial 
skills and began working for the Internal Revenue Service and later HUD 
where she was secretary to the Area Director for 20 years.&nbsp; She retired 
in 1982.

Her friends and co-workers describe 
Wanda as humble and never speaking an unkind word about anyone.&nbsp; She 
enjoyed a good laugh and a good Whiskey Sour on special occasions.&nbsp; 
Wanda was a quilter, a bridge player, a reader of good books and a lover
 of Clark Gable movies.&nbsp; Her husband and children loved her homemade 
divinity during the holidays, her endless cakes and pies (Jack had a 
sweet tooth), and of course, the wonderful Sunday fried chicken dinners.

Wanda is survived by her daughter Cheryl Jeter (Joseph) of Hays, KS, two granddaughters:&nbsp; Evan Fauerbach (Tyler) of Denver, CO and Emily Valdez (Eric) of Centennial, CO and 5 great grand-children:&nbsp; Lilly, Owen, Liesel, Margot 
and Beatrice. She was preceded in death by her husband Jack, her son 
Victor and her parents Charles and Chessie Bryant.

Wanda was a true lady, always very&nbsp; 
proper in speech and appearance.&nbsp; She loved nice things, especially 
clothes, shoes and antiques.&nbsp; Although small in stature, she was a giant
 when it came to loving and caring for her family.

Eva Carson, 79, went to heaven to join Jesus on August 20, 2022, at 
Locust Grove nursing home in La Crosse. She was born to Drexel Dean and 
Charlotte (Clark) Thompson in Bedford, Iowa, on November 3, 1942. She was
 born just minutes before her twin sister, Reva. She attended Bedford 
Community School system. She was a member of the VFW Auxiliary and First
 Christian Church, La Crosse.

She married Charles Jones on July 17, 1961. To this union was born 5 
children. She lived in Bedford most of her life raising her family. In 
1984 she moved to Ashton, Indiana for a short time but decided to follow
 her daughter to Dodge City, Kansas. She later divorced Charles and 
married George Carson on September 21, 1991, and she said he was the love
 of her life. They were married until he died February 19, 2013.

During her life she worked as a nursing assistant for many years and 
loved caring for the elderly. When she finally got to the point, she 
could not do that type of work anymore, she started working for a donut 
shop. She loved when children would come up to her and say, “there is 
the donut lady.” In her free time, she loved to crochet baby blankets 
and afghans for her family and friends. She loved to have her 
grandchildren and great grandchildren visit often.

She is survived by 4 of her children; Floyd Jones and wife Marlene, 
Fowler, Kansas, Annette Mercer and husband Gary, La Crosse, Richard 
Jones and wife Sandra, Freeport, Texas and Charlie Jones and wife 
Danyel, of Highland, Illinois; 12 grandchildren; 20 great grandchildren;
 and her sister, Reva Patten, La Crosse, Kansas.

She was preceded death by her parents, husband, George, 2 brothers, 
Dean Thompson and Homer Loughry, and infant son, Harold Jones.

Funeral service will be 1:00 pm Friday, August 26, 2022, at Living 
Waters Pentecostal Holiness Church (302 E. Vine) with Rev. Siah Edwards 
officiating. Burial will follow at the Kansas Veterans Cemetery, Ft. 
Dodge, Kansas. Visitation will be Thursday from noon to 8:00 pm at 
Ziegler Funeral Chapel, Dodge City.

The family suggests memorials to Living Waters Pentecostal Holiness
