Evelyn Catherine Klusener, 85, passed away June 17, 2023, at Sangre De Cristo Hospice House, Pueblo, CO. She was born January 19, 1938, in Rocky Ford, CO. to Seledanio and Marcela (Blea) Gomez. &nbsp;

Evelyn married Leonard Klusener July 2, 1957, in Lyons, KS. &nbsp;He passed away February 19, 2008.&nbsp;

A current resident of La Junta, CO, Evelyn had been a longtime resident of Great Bend, KS and had faithfully served many years as a translator and data entry specialist for the Barton County Health Department and a cook for USD 428 and Barton Community College. &nbsp;She was a member of Prince of Peace Parish at St. Rose and the Altar Society, and in her spare time, enjoyed camping, arts and crafts.

Survivors include one son, Edward Klusener (Mary) of La Junta, CO; five daughters, Virginia Roybal Mascarenas (Thomas) of La Junta, CO, Katrina Evers (Robert) of Great Bend, KS, Mary McVey (Patrick) of Liberty Hill, TX, Donna (Stueve) Zink (Andrew) of Turon, KS, and Brenda McNary (Steve) of Smith Center, KS; one brother, Victor Gomez of La Junta, CO; three sisters, Jenny Ramirez of La Junta, CO, Alicia Acosta of Denver, CO, and Arcilia Salinas of Colorado Springs, CO; and 20 grandchildren and 28 great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by husband Leonard Klusener, parents Seledanio and Marcela (Blea) Gomez, brothers Mike Gomez and David Gomez, and granddaughter, TaCoa Stueve.

Funeral services will be 10:30 a.m. Friday, June 23, 2023, at Bryant Funeral Home, with interment to follow at Great Bend Cemetery, Great Bend, KS. &nbsp;Visitation will be from Noon to 8:00 p.m., Thursday, June 22, at Bryant Funeral Home, with the family receiving guests from 5:00 to 7:00 p.m. &nbsp;

Kathleen A. (O’Connor) Suppes – age 61, passed away on Thursday, June 15, 2023, at Hays Medical Center.

She was born November 11, 1961, in Concordia, Kansas to Earl Eugene and Catherine Ann (Schneweis) O’Connor. 

She married Patrick Suppes and into his family of five children on November 21, 1997, in Olmitz, Kansas.

She was an LPN and worked at area nursing homes and hospitals for over 35 years in Victoria, Hays, Russell, Great Bend, Larned and La Crosse. Kathleen started her nursing career as a CNA working with her mother taking care of the nuns in Concordia, and retired early in 2018. 

She grew up in Concordia and attended Concordia High School.

She was a member of St. Ann’s Catholic Church and St. Ann’s Altar Society in Olmitz. She enjoyed crocheting, cross stitching, making jewelry and beading jewelry. She had a great love of music, and&nbsp;enjoyed playing her piano. She was a strong in her Catholic faith, and continuously prayed for others.

Survivors include her husband Patrick Suppes, of the home; her children Amy Perry and husband, Vince, Ellsworth, KS; Julie Hoverson and husband, John, Smithville, MO; Christy Baalmann and husband, Mark, La Crosse, KS; James Suppes and wife, Brittany, Smith Center, KS; Matthew Suppes and wife, Sharon, Baldwin City, KS; her grandchildren Christian and Aiden Suppes; Brooklyn Perry; Jailee and Jayden Hoverson; Johannah, Jace and Jodie Baalmann; Elsie and Emmett Suppes, Abigail Suppes; her mother-in-law Elsie Suppes, Locust Grove Nursing Home, La Crosse, KS; her brothers Pat O’Connor, Salina, KS; Michael O’Connor and wife, Janet, Salina, KS; Brian O’Connor and wife, Terri, Concordia, KS; her sister Colleen Harris and husband, Bill, Memphis, TN; as well as many cousins, nieces and nephews.

Raymond Karl Harrington, 64, of Norton, KS passed away June 16, 2023. He was born February 3, 1959 in San Fernando, CA to Robert Louis and Gisela (Jung) Harrington.

Ray was born in California and then his family moved to Norton in 1961. He attended Norton schools. 

Ray held various jobs in Kansas and then began working for Amazon in Coffeyville and later moved to Dallas. He lived there until moving back to Norton at the beginning of 2023. 

Ray was an avid collector of guns and coins and enjoyed working on his classic cars.

Ray was preceded in death by his parents and brother, Dave. 

He is survived by his brothers Marty Harrington of Norton, Jake Harrington of Norton, and Keith Harrington of Rainier, WA and many nieces and nephews.

Graveside services will be held 10:30 a.m. Monday, June 19, 2023 at the Norton Cemetery.

Danny Thomas Houston passed away on June 16, 2023, at his home in Plainville, KS, at the age of 53. He was born on May 10, 1970, to George Thomas and Tressia Mae (Gardner) Houston in Shenandoah, IA.

Danny grew up in Red Oak, IA and graduated from Clarinda High School in 1982. He was a police officer in Red Oak, IA for many years. 

He enjoyed rock and roll music and loved spending time with his family, especially his kids and grandkids.

Danny is survived by his mother Tressia Houston of Plainville; son George Houston of Plainville; daughters, Margaret Allensworth of Elliot, IA and Noel Dominguez of Council Bluffs, IA; brothers James (Kathleen) Houston of Grand Prairie, TX, Jerry (Lesa) Houston of Ellsworth, KS, and Ray (Lisa) Houston of Manhattan, KS; sisters Tressia Lynn (Wayne) Paramore of Plainville and Jennifer Houston of Newton, IA; and three grandchildren, Danny T. Houston II, Theodora A. Houston, and Harvey Allensworth.

He is preceded in death by his father George Houston and his grandparents Raymond and Berniece Houston and Willie and Irene Gardner.

A funeral service will be held on Tuesday, June 20, 2023, at 2 p.m. at the First Lutheran Church in Plainville. There will be no visitation.

Saundra “Sue” Shapland, 80 years old, died on Wednesday June 14, 2023 at the Scott County Hospital surrounded by loved ones. She was born on February 3, 1943 at Dighton, Kansas. Sue was the daughter of Eric L. and Lola Mae (Siek) Jones. 

She married the love of her life, Eugene&nbsp;Shapland, on June 30, 1962 at Dighton, Kansas. Together they had four sons and lived a full life with their wonderful family and friends. Sue was a proud graduate of Dighton High School in 1961 and afterward attended&nbsp;Phillips University in Enid, Oklahoma. Community, family, and church were incredibly important to Sue as seen in her devotion to all three. She was a lifetime member of the First Christian Church in Dighton where she served as deaconess, sang in the choir, and was an excellent cook for many church functions. Unsurprisingly, Sue won the Southwest Sweetheart. Anyone who knew Sue could attest to her big heart, generosity, and contagious smile. She remained involved in FCA and extension work for many years and received the 50-year service award.

She also was a member of the state, regional, and national conservation boards alongside her husband, Eugene. They received the National Conservation Award. And the highlight was shaking hands with President Elect George H.W. Bush who presented them their award at the White House. She was selected for the Kansas Master Homemaker Award. Sue was a lifelong supporter of 4-H where she started as a youth member. The Shapland family was selected as Grand Marshalls for the Lane County Fair Parade. Even with all their activities, Sue and Eugene made sure they had time to travel. Sue got to see the world alongside her husband going to Brazil, Europe, and Hawaii just to name a few. Sue stayed incredibly busy throughout life. She was a professional cake decorator, quilter, thrift shopper, historian, and harvest meal chef. Sue valued God and family above all else. She was preceded in death by her parents. She is survived by her husband Eugene Shapland, her four sons,&nbsp; Mark and his wife Leah, Keith and his girlfriend Jeanne Byers, Gary and his wife Janet, and Clint and his wife Stephanie, and her sister Marilyn and her husband Dean McFann. She was born on February 3, 1943 at Dighton, Kansas. Sue was the daughter of Eric L. and Lola Mae (Siek) Jones. She married the love of her life, Eugene&nbsp;Shapland, on June 30, 1962 at Dighton, Kansas. Together they had four sons and lived a full life with their wonderful family and friends. Sue was a proud graduate of Dighton High School in 1961 and afterward attended&nbsp;Phillips University in Enid, Oklahoma. Community, family, and church were incredibly important to Sue as seen in her devotion to all three. She was a lifetime member of the First Christian Church in Dighton where she served as deaconess, sang in the choir, and was an excellent cook for many church functions. Unsurprisingly, Sue won the Southwest Sweetheart. Anyone who knew Sue could attest to her big heart, generosity, and contagious smile. She remained involved in FCA and extension work for many years and received the 50-year service award. She also was a member of the state, regional, and national conservation boards alongside her husband, Eugene. They received the National Conservation Award. And the highlight was shaking hands with President Elect George H.W. Bush who presented them their award at the White House. She was selected for the Kansas Master Homemaker Award. Sue was a lifelong supporter of 4-H where she started as a youth member. The Shapland family was selected as Grand Marshalls for the Lane County Fair Parade. Even with all their activities, Sue and Eugene made sure they had time to travel. Sue got to see the world alongside her husband going to Brazil, Europe, and Hawaii just to name a few. Sue stayed incredibly busy throughout life. She was a professional cake decorator, quilter, thrift shopper, historian, and harvest meal chef. Sue valued God and family above all else. She was preceded in death by her parents. She is survived by her husband Eugene Shapland, her four sons,&nbsp; Mark and his wife Leah, Keith and his girlfriend Jeanne Byers, Gary and his wife Janet, and Clint and his wife Stephanie, and her sister Marilyn and her husband Dean McFann. Former Montrose Colorado resident, Gerald E. Krill, better known as “Rusty,” passed away on June 14, 2023 in Goodland, Kansas at the age of 92.&nbsp;

He was born September 17, 1930 to George and Leona (Walker) Krill.&nbsp; 

Rusty grew up in the Coal Creek farming community west of Montrose.&nbsp; He helped on the family farm that was established around 1904 by his grandparents John William and Catherine Krill after immigrating from Germany. 

Rusty was recognized for his 4-H projects including a seed corn project and an award winning calf.&nbsp; He attended Coal Creek grade school and graduated from Olathe High School with the class of 1948.

Rusty enlisted in the U.S. Navy on January 11, 1951 and was member of the ‘Seabees’ Mobile Construction Battalion. He trained in San Diego, CA, built roads and air fields in Bermuda and Cuba and was honorably discharged in Rhode Island on October, 18, 1954.

He returned home to Montrose, where he married Dorothy Belle Seip, of Olathe on April 30, 1955.&nbsp; 

The day after they were married, they headed to California to work with family in the logging business. But Colorado kept calling them back.&nbsp; Upon their return, Rusty and Dorothy embarked on another adventure by maintaining and managing the San Miguel Ranch located in the San Miguel Canyon near Norwood.&nbsp; Their next home was on the Seip property just east of Olathe. They were joined by their first daughter, Lana in 1957.&nbsp; Once again, an opportunity arose and Rusty and Dorothy moved back to his beloved Coal Creek community where they purchased the old Coal Creek Store and soon began a lifetime of renovations to make this their home.&nbsp; The family welcomed a second daughter, Roxane in 1961.

Rusty was a ‘builder’ always contributing to a project in some way whether it be running heavy equipment, driving a cement truck, welding something or erecting metal buildings.&nbsp; Many a skill was passed down to his girls including framing, pouring concrete, welding and on occasion, hanging red iron for a metal building and of course the ever present home improvement projects.&nbsp; Thank you Dad.&nbsp; He retired from Walker &amp; Krill Builders of Montrose in the early 1990s.

Despite always having a project to finish, Rusty and the family always made time for fun. The great outdoors played a huge part in the family with deer and elk hunting in the fall, fishing whenever they could and camping all throughout the summer on the Uncompahgre Plateau or the beautiful mountains surrounding the Silverjack Reservoir area.&nbsp; Large extended family gathering were also a frequent event at the Krill household.&nbsp; And don’t forget those Saturday night dances!&nbsp; Rusty loved to say “Have more fun!!”

By the mid 1990s, Rusty and Dorothy longed to spend more time with their grandchildren who had moved to the Goodland, Kansas area.&nbsp; They soon found themselves totally emersed in the grandkids and their athletic activities, much like they did with Lana and Roxane during their school years.&nbsp; Rusty very much enjoyed helping out on the farm that Roxane’s family owns and operates near Goodland.

After Dorothy’s passing in 2017, Rusty chose to remain at his home in Kansas.&nbsp; He made the decision to move to assisted living a few years later where there was a little help if he needed it.&nbsp; The staff quickly dubbed him the ‘old geezer’ or ‘ornery’ as nicknames---and always said with a smile. Only in the last sixty days did Rusty’s health decline requiring hospitalization and skilled nursing. The family wishes to thank NorthWest Kansas Hospice for their outstanding support and kindness during Rusty’s final days.

Rusty is predeceased by his parents George and Leona Krill and wife Dorothy.

He is survived by daughter Lana (Kent) Kinsey of Montrose, daughter Roxane (Gary) Brack of Goodland, granddaughter Kendra (Kirk) Pearson and great-grandchildren Presley and Carson of Parker, Colorado, grandson Taylor (Shelbi) Brack and great-granddaughter Wrenly of Goodland, sisters Peggy Culver and Linda Krill along with numerous nieces and nephews.

Delores Adelle (Russell) Koss, of Belleville, KS, passed away on Thursday, June 15, 2023, at the age of 90 years old.&nbsp;

Delores was born on October 19, 1932, in Belleville, Kansas to parents Ray W. and Hazel (Collier) Russell.

 She attended Bell Country School, and then Haddam High School where she graduated in 1950. She went on to attend Stewarts Cosmetology School in Salina, Kansas.

She was united in marriage to Donald E. Koss on March 14, 1954. To this union of 44 years brought three children, Mark, Patti, and Debbie.

Delores worked in Mankato for three months. She then owned a beauty shop in Morrowville, Kansas, for three years. She worked at Foote’s Café, and volunteered for Meadowlark Hospice. Later she worked at the Republic County Hospital and the Mahaska Community Center.

She loved horses and was a former barrel racer, involved in the Haddam Saddle Club. Delores dearly loved her children, grandchildren, and great grandchildren. Her focus in life was her faith, family, and friends (human and the furry kind – horses, dogs, and cats.) She also enjoyed birds and flowers. Delores had a dog kennel, raising shih tzus and cairn terriers. She put her heart and soul into raising and caring for them.

Delores will be missed dearly by her children Mark Koss and wife Mary of Haddam, KS, Patti Robinett and husband Brian of Olathe, KS, and Debbie Vanous and husband Duane of Belleville, KS; grandchildren Meredith Ernzen, husband Caleb, and their children Blaine, Clayton, and Aiden; Mike Koss, wife Ann Gandhi and their son William; Jaime Vanasse, husband Jon and their children Audrey and Elise; Jason Robinett; Danielle Toubia, husband Tony and their children River and Jack; Diana Frye, husband Tyler, and their son Trevin; Desiree Neff, husband Matthew, and their children Blakleigh and Bentley; Derek Vanous and his significant other, Jenna Riley; and sister in law Darlene Lambert and husband Roger.

She was preceded in death by her husband Donald, and her parents.

Funeral service will be held on Saturday, June 17, 2023, at 10:30 a.m. at the Narka Presbyterian Church. Burial will follow at the Haddam Cemetery.

Aliease Delores Dougherty, 94, passed away on June 14, 2023, at Azria Health Woodhaven, Great Bend, Kansas. She was born on February 11, 1929, in El Dorado, Kansas, to Charles W. and Lucy Hadassa (Baker) Barker.

 On October 3, 1947, she married Richard Dougherty; they later divorced.

A resident of Great Bend since 1947, Aliease was farm wife and homemaker. She was a member of the Great Bend Pilot Club and was a 4-H “El Caballo” Equestrian Leader, as well as an active volunteer for the Great Bend Humane Society and Central Kansas CASA. Aliease loved her animals and cherished time with her family.

Survivors include a son, Richard (Reva) Dougherty of Great Bend; eight grandchildren, Jon Thornbrugh, James Thornbrugh, Jeff Thornbrugh, Joshua Robinson, Marshall Miller, Michael Miller, Lori Strecker and Stacy Dougherty; ten great-grandchildren; three sisters, Anita Van Tries of Tennessee, Berneal Baker of Wichita, Kansas, and Norma Gilliland of Lincoln, Nebraska; and a son-in-law, Ron Miller. 

She is preceded in death by two daughters, Ann Miller and Mary Robinson; her parents; a brother, David Wilson; and a sister, Joyce Whitaker.

Visitation will take place from 1:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. Sunday, June 18, 2023, with the family receiving guests from 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m., at Bryant Funeral Home. Mary Joan Harvey (Schroeder) passed peacefully in Mt. Dora, Fla., on June 7, 2023, at the age of 93.

She was surrounded by family. Harvey was a native Kansan and was a long-time resident of Hays.

She is survived by sons Fred (Sheri – deceased), Mark (Lise), Steve (Karen), Paul (Susan – deceased), and James (Sarita) Harvey; daughters Marilyn Schumacher (Bob), and Barbara Schnose (Mark); and brothers Fulgence (Rita), Gerald Schroeder (Mary Lou), and Dan (Janet). She is also survived by 25 grandchildren and numerous great-grandchildren.

Harvey married Thomas Larkin Harvey on June 7, 1952. They were married 57 years.

She was preceded in death by husband Thomas; parents Margaret (Arendt) and Charles Schroeder; brothers John, Anthony Leon (Antonetta Marie-deceased), Charles Martel (Eileen-deceased), and Nicholas Patrick (Judy); and sisters Delores Orten (Duane-deceased), Barbara Mindrup (Patrick (Joe)-deceased), and Rose Winkler (Donald-deceased); and grandson Jake Harvey.

Harvey was an alumna of Girls Catholic High School in Hays, and Saint Mary’s Nursing School in Manhattan, Kan. She worked as a registered nurse in Kansas until retirement and had a great love for her family, friends and her faith.

Mary Joan Harvey (Schroeder) 

Diana Lynn Morris, 72, of Russell, Kansas, died, surrounded by her family, on Tuesday, June 13, 2023, at Wesley Medical Center in Wichita, Kansas, after a long battle with cancer.

Diana was born on October 30, 1950, in Omaha, Nebraska, the daughter of Ronald Lester and Dolores Del (Read) Burbridge. 

She grew up in Bellevue, Nebraska and Des Moines, Iowa where she attended local schools and graduated salutatorian from Southeast Polk High School in Des Moines, Iowa. After high school, she attended Drake University and graduated from Iowa Methodist School of Nursing in Des Moines, Iowa. 

She met Terry E. Morris on a blind date on New Year’s Eve, 1970. They fell in love and were united in marriage on July 1, 1972, in Omaha, Nebraska. They moved to Russell, Kansas in 1973. From this union they were blessed with three sons, Matt, Mark, and Jon. 

Diana worked as a registered nurse for Drs. White, Pettijohn, and Schulz. 

She was a longtime and very active member of the Bible Baptist Church in Russell, Kansas where she taught Sunday school, ladies’ Bible study, played piano, and directed the choir. She was a talented pianist and vocalist. She enjoyed painting, quilting, biking, walking, and reading. Most of all, Diana enjoyed spending time with her family and especially enjoyed taking care of her grandchildren.

Surviving family include her husband Terry of the home, sons Matt Morris and wife Kaysie of Hays, Kansas, Mark Morris and wife Amanda of Bunker Hill, Kansas and Jon Morris and wife Amanda of Trimble, Missouri and eight grandchildren: Camden, Chase, Audrie, Jake, Chailyn, Wyatt, Jack, and Maggie.

She was preceded in death by her parents Ronald and Dolores Burbridge, and brother Ronnie Burbridge.

A celebration of Diana’s life will be held at 10:00 a.m. on Wednesday, June 21, 2023, at Pohlman-Varner-Peeler Mortuary in Russell, Kansas. A graveside service and burial will follow at 2:30 p.m. at the Burr Oak Cemetery in Burr Oak, Kansas. Visitation will be from 9 a.m. to 8 p.m. on Tuesday, June 20, 2023, at Pohlman-Varner-Peeler Mortuary with family greeting guests from 6 p.m. to 7 p.m. Tuesday evening.

Gary Mac Fox, 75, passed away June 13, 2023 at Olathe Medical Center, Olathe, Kansas.

He was born September 21, 1947 in Great Bend, the son of Walter Mac and Dorothy Goldsmith Fox.

Gary graduated from Larned High School in 1966. 

Following high school, he enlisted in the United States Air Force where he served his country for four years. &nbsp;During that time, he was stationed in (Saigon) Vietnam for one year, where he served as a jet mechanic. &nbsp;He often took R&amp;R trips to Japan, where he would purchase electronic equipment and send it home for safe keeping. &nbsp;His family enjoyed the use of his record player, reel-to-reel tape player and massive speakers until he returned home to reclaim them.

Following his honorable discharge from the Air Force he returned to Kansas and attended and graduated from the North Central Kansas Technical College in Beloit, KS, in today’s equivalent of agriculture equipment technology. Having grown up on the family farm, agricultural mechanicing was his way of staying connected to the family farm.

He then worked for several years for the John Deere dealerships in Larned, Great Bend, and Ottawa. &nbsp;After his career with John Deere, he worked at the Walmart Distribution Center for several years until he began his career with the Kansas Department of Transportation. He worked for KDOT until February 2023. 

Gary accepted Jesus Christ as his Lord and Savior in 1986 at the New Covenant Church in Larned.

On January 12, 1974 he married Marsha Schultz at Larned; they later divorced.

On December 27, 1993 he married Michaelene Hurd at Larned; she preceded him in death April 18, 2016.

Survivors include two sons, Eric (Jessie) Fox, Larned, Chris Fox, Salt Lake City, Utah; two stepdaughters, Amy (Scott) Borton, Lawrence, Leah Hanson, Wichita; two brothers, Larry (Marilyn) Fox, Manhattan, Maurice Fox, Larned; six grandchildren, Allen Fox, Easton Fox, Eli Fox, Evan Fox, Kimberly Hanson, and Tyler Hanson.

He was preceded in death by his parents, his wife Michaelene, and an infant sister, Beth Ann Fox.

Cremation has taken place and a memorial service will be 10:00 a.m. Monday, June 19, 2023 at Beckwith Mortuary, Larned, with Pastor David Spare presiding.

Don loved cooking and eating and&nbsp;and enjoyed traveling, especially to see friends.&nbsp; He liked to golf, and eating at new restaurants.&nbsp; He was not against trying something new. Survivors include his wife Rose who is a financial planner and their son Dustin Dreiling, two grandsons, Dylan D. Dreiling and Austin J. Dreiling, and his sister JoAnn Sandoval of Hays.

He was preceded in death by his parents Peter J. and LaVina M. Dreiling, (Urban), and two brothers, Joseph Dreiling and Ronald L. A U.S. Navy Veteran, Jim served aboard an aircraft carrier off the coast of Vietnam during the Vietnam War. &nbsp;

A Great Bend resident since 1998, coming from Winwood, Pennsylvania, Jim worked as a security system and fire alarm system installer for over 30 years, mostly in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, Memphis, Tennessee, and in Mississippi. &nbsp;

Jim was united in marriage to Jan L. Clawson on September 13, 1996 at Frederick, Maryland. 

Since moving to the high-rise in Great Bend, Jim had worked four years as maintenance security officer and night manager at the high-rise. &nbsp;He loved to work with his hands to build furniture and fix things, loved gardening and growing flowers, and was a lover of animals the great outdoors.

Survivors include his wife Jan L. Carnes of Great Bend, Kansas and one sister, Jeanette of Mississippi, along with his faithful chocolate Labrador Tyson (also known affectionately as “Hound Dog”). &nbsp;

Jim was preceded in death by his parents and five siblings.

According to his wishes, cremation has been chosen and a Celebration of Life Service will be held at 4:00 p.m. on Tuesday, June 13, 2023 at the High Rise Meeting Room, 1101 Kansas Avenue, Great Bend, Kansas with Charles Bookout officiating. &nbsp;

SCOTT CITY - Thelma G. Miller, age 91, peacefully passed away on June 12, 2023, at the Park Lane Nursing Home in Scott City, Kansas. She was born on August 27, 1931, in Ransom, Kansas the daughter of William Roy and Nellie Adkinson Barnett.&nbsp; 

A resident of Scott City, Kansas since 1937 moving from Ransom, Kansas, she was the retired owner of Miller’s Grain in Scott City, Kansas.

On August 28, 1949, she married Delmer Miller in Scott City Kansas, the day after she turned 18. Thelma liked to tell the story that she could legally be married but Delmer had to have his parents sign a consent because the legal age for a woman to marry was 18 but for a man, it was 21. He passed away on May 28, 1993, in Scott City, Kansas.

She was a member of the First United Methodist Church, United Methodist Women, High Plains Study Club, Funds for Fun, Tuesday Bridge Club, and was Past President of Kansas West Conference United Methodist Women.&nbsp;

Thelma enjoyed many other activities. She was a master at making meals for Delmer’s harvest crews during wheat harvest, commander of the dishwasher at the Methodist Church, and an earache specialist. When Delmer semi-retired and bought a boat for fishing, the children and grandchildren decided they would rather water ski so Delmer bought another boat for him to fish and taught Thelma to drive the other to take her family and friends water skiing. Many great days were spent at Trenton, Nebraska (Swanson Reservoir) at their trailer with family and friends.&nbsp; 

In her 40s, Thelma chaperoned many church youth groups on snow skiing trips. She informed Delmer if she was going with them, she might as well ski. This led to numerous years of her and Delmer enjoying the slopes. Thelma last snow skied when she was 75 years old with great-grandsons Austin and Nick.

Survivors include her son Craig Miller of Scott City, Kansas, daughters Cozette and Van Buckner of Scott City, Kansas, Cynthia Lee Miller and Huxley Nixon, Jr. of Kansas City, Missouri, sister Lela Bishop of Leoti, Kansas, granddaughters Jennifer Turpin, Stephanie (Turpin) Brown, Andrea (Miller) Tucker, Ashlee (Miller) Moses and Cameron Turpin,&nbsp; great-grandchildren&nbsp; Austin Rios, Nick Brown, Hannah Tucker, Jake Moses and Bo Moses and great-great-grandchild&nbsp; Lumi Rios.

She was preceded in death by her husband, parents, and two brothers, Neal Barnett and Wade Barnett.

Funeral services will be held at 2:00 p.m. Tuesday, June 20, 2023, at the United Methodist Church in Scott City, Kansas, with the Rev. Jeff Goetzinger and Rev. Dennis Carter presiding.

She was born on August 27, 1931, in Ransom, Kansas the daughter of William Roy and Nellie Adkinson Barnett.&nbsp; A resident of Scott City, Kansas since 1937 moving from Ransom, Kansas, she was the retired owner of Miller’s Grain in Scott City, Kansas.On August 28, 1949, she married Delmer Miller in Scott City Kansas, the day after she turned 18. Thelma liked to tell the story that she could legally be married but Delmer had to have his parents sign a consent because the legal age for a woman to marry was 18 but for a man, it was 21. He passed away on May 28, 1993, in Scott City, Kansas.She was a member of the First United Methodist Church, United Methodist Women, High Plains Study Club, Funds for Fun, Tuesday Bridge Club, and was Past President of Kansas West Conference United Methodist Women.&nbsp;Thelma enjoyed many other activities. She was a master at making meals for Delmer’s harvest crews during wheat harvest, commander of the dishwasher at the Methodist Church, and an earache specialist. SCOTT CITY - Elissa Carol Bahm, age 71, Topeka, KS died peacefully on Monday, June 12,&nbsp;2023&nbsp;in Topeka, KS. &nbsp;She was born May 3, 1952, in Garden City, KS, to Keith A. and Carolyn L. (Shriver) Janzen. &nbsp;She grew up and lived most of her life in Scott City, KS,&nbsp;moving to Topeka in 2021 to be closer to her family.

Elissa worked her high school years at the famous&nbsp;Burgerteria&nbsp;and was involved with The Order of Rainbow Girls, graduating from SCHS in 1970.&nbsp;

Elissa married Dannie G. Bahm on June 6, 1970. &nbsp;He passed&nbsp;away March 12,&nbsp;2022&nbsp;in Topeka, KS. &nbsp;To this union, three children were born, Doug Bahm, Darin Bahm and Carrie (Bahm)&nbsp;Doyal. &nbsp;

Dannie and Elissa moved to the farm in 1973 and soon started farming with her dad, Keith Janzen. &nbsp;Elissa was a church organist, Sunday School teacher, was highly involved with all three children, serving as a 4-H Leader of the Lucky Clover 4-H Club and wrote the Pence Particulars for the local newspaper for years. &nbsp;

She had worked in the office of Royal Beef and later at Bill Wright’s law&nbsp;office. &nbsp;

Elissa had a heart of gold, placing others before herself. &nbsp;She supported her husband in his&nbsp;adventures, and&nbsp;was always looking out for her family and friends. &nbsp;She loved playing games and decorating Christmas cookies with her children and grandchildren and her annual Christmas shopping sprees with her best friend,&nbsp;Tonda. She had a huge love for animals, music, singing, Branson theater shows, watching Hallmark movies, and visiting family and friends,&nbsp;and also&nbsp;making them feel special&nbsp;when&nbsp;family and friends moved&nbsp;into the nursing home.

Survivors include her children, Doug Bahm (Topeka), Darin and Vicky Bahm (Kansas City, MO), and Carrie and Scott&nbsp;Doyal&nbsp;(Topeka), her sister,&nbsp;Ann&nbsp;and Jud Price (Eureka, MO), and her grandchildren and stepgrandchildren, Jordan and Kaitlyn&nbsp;Doyal, Cameron, Jenna and Amanda Bahm, and Austin Taylor.

She was preceded in death by her husband and her parents.

Memorial Services will be held Monday, June 19,&nbsp;2023&nbsp;at 10:30 a.m. at the First Baptist Church in Scott City, KS with Reverend Kyle Evans presiding. &nbsp;Services will be&nbsp;live-streamed&nbsp;at&nbsp;<a href="https://www.priceandsons.com/">www.priceandsons.com</a>.&nbsp;

She attended Norton Community Schools, graduating from Norton Community High School in 1953.
