US crude prices eked out a weekly gain of 14 cents a barrel, with the near-month NYMEX contract for light sweet crude closing the day Friday at $67.18 per barrel, up 63 cents on the day, but still down more than a dollar from the first of the month and nearly three dollars lower than at the first of the year.

Kansas Common crude at CHS in McPherson starts the week at $57.50 per barrel, after gaining 75 cents on Friday.&nbsp; Prices are down $2.50 a barrel from the first of the month, and down $4.50 per barrel from the first of the year.

US crude-oil production rose to the highest level this year and the third highest ever. The Energy Information Administration reports output averaged 13,575,000 barrels per day in the week through March 7. The all-time high over 13.6 million barrels a day was achieved in the first week of December last year. Cumulative production this year averages over 13.4 million daily barrels, up nearly three percent over the same period a year ago.

Annual US Production increased to 13.2 million barrels per day (bpd) &nbsp;in 2024, marking the first time the yearly average has topped 13 million. The government reports output jumped more than 300,000 bpd from the year before and more than two million bpd in the last five years. Texas accounted for 41% of US production, according to the Energy Information Administration report.

Montana surpasses Kansas in annual production for the first time, dropping the Sunflower State to number 13 in the state rankings. Texas tops the list at 5.4 million bpd, followed by New Mexico (2.03M), North Dakota (1.1M), Colorado (471k), and Alaska (420k). Oklahoma is number six (395k), ahead of Wyoming (292k), California (285k), Utah (179k) and Ohio (100k). Next come Louisiana (84k), Montana (74k) and Kansas (73k).

The Kansas Rig Count from Independent Oil and Gas Service rise to 18 active rigs.&nbsp; The tally in eastern Kansas is up one at five rigs, while the count west of Wichita is up one at 12 rigs. Rig counts are up 20 percent from a month ago but down nearly 38% from last year. Drilling was underway Friday on two leases in Stafford County. Operators are drilling two wells in Finney County and are about to spud a third. Drilling continues on a lease in Haskell County.

Friday's Rotary Rig Count from Baker Hughes shows 592 active rigs nationwide, an increase of one oil rig but a decrease of one seeking natural gas. The count in New Mexico was down three rigs from last week. Oklahoma was up two.

Kansas regulators okayed 12 new drilling permits in Kansas last week. That's 136 new drilling locations so far this year. All 12 permits are west of Wichita, including two in Barton County, one in Ellis County, and one in Haskell County.

Independent Oil and Gas Service reports 18 new well completions, with six in Western Kansas including one in Stafford County. That's 251 completions so far this year.

US crude imports are down 343,000 barrels a day from last week to 5.5 million daily barrels. The four-week average is down more than ten percent from a year ago. Product imports are down slightly. Crude and product exports each dropped last week. Crude exports dropped nearly 25 percent. The four-week average is down a million barrels a day from a year ago.

The Energy Department reports delivery of 300,000 barrels of crude for the Strategic Petroleum Reserve, the first such addition in four weeks. The total in the SPR is up to 395.3 million barrels, up 9.4 percent from a year ago.

Commercial crude inventories rose by 1.4 million barrels last week to just over 435 million as of March 7. The Energy Information Administration says stockpiles are about five percent below the five-year average for this time of year.

The government says two years of low natural gas prices and advanced completion techniques have prompted a dramatic reduction in drilling rigs targeting natural gas in the US. The Energy Information Administration and Baker Hughes report the number of active US gas rigs dropped by 32%, or 50 rigs, since December of 2022. The decline has been concentrated in the natural gas plays in Louisiana and the northeastern United States.

The state oil company in Mexico continues to expand operations from its new Olmeca refinery, causing new headaches in US import and export markets. Reuters reports that as refining operations expand, PEMEX is increasingly shifting barrels of heavy crude away from US Gulf Coast refineries. Mexico's government has been working for nearly a decade to wean the country off its longstanding dependence on imported motor fuels. Robust output from the new refinery has also begun to spike PEMEX product exports.&nbsp;&nbsp;

News from the Oil Patch: Crude production tops this year

The Ellis County Commission will hear suggestions from a resident regarding road conditions in rural subdivisions during its meeting at 8:30 a.m. Tuesday.

The discussion will focus on establishing a standardized approach to road maintenance, gathering feedback from residents in various subdivisions and exploring potential solutions.

Due to technical issues from the previous commission meeting, the subdevelopment road discussion was postponed to this Tuesday.

An adjoining property owner has requested Ellis County Public Works vacate the right of way for St. Jacobs Street in Catherine.

According to state statute, the county commissioners may vacate the right of way if the road is impassable due to neglect or nonuse and is no longer necessary for public utility.

Public Works Director Brendan Mackay will present the discussion.

Ellis County Library Board appointment and update

The Ellis County Library Board will request Alisha Hammerschmidt's reappointment for a new term ending April 30, 2029, and approval of funding for 2025 expenses.

Commissioner Michael Berges will lead the discussion. If approved, the county administrator will allocate funds from the contingency budget to the general fund.

The Ellis County Historical Society is seeking a letter of support from the county to include with its grant application to T-Mobile. The grant would fund the purchase of new exhibit displays.

Ellis County EMS Director Danita Schroeder will request approval to purchase a Stryker PowerPro Cot and Powerload system for $54,504. The equipment will be used in a newly acquired ambulance.

The Ellis County Road and Bridge Division will seek approval to purchase a 2021 Caterpillar excavator for $184,736. The county's current 2005 CAT excavator has limitations in reaching specific project sites.

Ellis County Commission to hear subdivisions concerns

Friends of a Salina man who died in the multi-vehicle crash on Interstate 70 in the dust storm on Friday established a fundraiser to assist the family.

Dawson Hogan, 20, was one of eight who died in the crash.

"We ask our campus community to keep Dawson’s family, friends, classmates, and teammates in their thoughts and prayers during this heartbreaking time. He will be missed by many. Continued prayers to all of the individuals and their families involved in the tragedy."

Hill City native Jerry Garrison began his career in the automotive glass industry shortly after high school, eventually securing a position at Kenny Chapman Auto Glass in Wichita.

"At that time, I got to meet Carter Collier. He became a great friend, he mentored me and taught me a lot about the glass business," Jerry said.

Advantage Glass Plus marked its grand reopening and customer appreciation day on Friday with a ribbon-cutting ceremony hosted by the Chamber in Hays. Jerry and his son Nathan Garrison were showered with love from family and customers.

Jerry's longtime friend, Collier, passed away in 2014 after they worked together at the family-owned Massa Glass in Colorado. After some persuasion, the two relocated once more to open a store in Hays.

Safelite Auto Glass, a national chain, later acquired Massa Glass, where Jerry continued working until he decided to take a different route.

"I did not like the corporate world or the way they operated," Jerry said. "Between Collier and another investor, we started Advantage Glass Plus in 1992 and have been going ever since."

Jerry prioritized customer care and meeting their needs in any way possible. With the support of his family, Jerry and his wife, Dee Garrison, opened Advantage Glass Plus at 4310 Vine St. In 2005, it relocated to its current address at 1005 Vine St.

Construction for the expansion and remodel began in spring 2023. The project added 800 square feet to the showroom and front offices, and about 4,000 square feet to the north side of the original shop.

"We finally decided to expand, offer more services and help everybody else so we needed a bigger building," Nathan said.

The business has grown to offer automotive and truck accessories, window tinting, golf carts, trailer sales and rhino linings. Jerry’s son, Branden Garrison, does paintless dent repair.

These expansions also include new services like windshield calibration, which is essential for keeping up with the latest automotive technology, driven by Nathan and his younger mindset.

"A lot of newer vehicles these days, some will drive themselves... a lot of people don't realize the camera is built into the windshield or it's mounted inside the windshield," Nathan said.

Several customers, including Ellis County Commissioner Neal Younger, praised Advantage Glass Plus for its reliability, outstanding service and long-standing commitment to the community.

"Whenever I needed anything, Jerry and Nathan were there. Thank you guys for being so supportive of Hays and all the things you do," Younger said.

Family members reflected on Advantage Glass's influence on their lives, with one of Jerry's grandchildren showing gratitude for the business as a foundation for her and other young relatives' personal growth.

"I think all of us grandkids can thank Grandpa Jerry and Uncle Nate for all this," she said. "We all worked here where we've taken some kind of role. That kind of got us started and showed us leadership."

The grand reopening featured raffle prizes and lunch from Smokin Co. BBQ. To celebrate, the shop is offering 10% off window tinting for the rest of the month, along with limited-time discounts of 5% off bed covers and 5% off running boards and nerf bars.

Advantage Glass Plus celebrates 32 years, grand reopening in Hays

NORTON — The Kansas Department of Transportation will close a 6-mile portion of K-23 in Sheridan County starting Monday, March 31.

The closure is necessary for the reconstruction of the highway from County Road 70S (CR-406) north to Walnut Avenue in Hoxie. During construction, motorists will be directed to follow the state-route detour on I-70, U.S. 83 and U.S. 24.

KDOT expects the road to reopen in late October, conditions permitting.

Sporer Land Development of Oakley is the primary contractor for the $19 million project, which is part of KDOT’s Eisenhower Legacy Transportation Program, known as IKE.

 </figure>KDOTNORTON — The Kansas Department of Transportation will close a 6-mile portion of K-23 in Sheridan County starting Monday, March 31.The closure is necessary for the reconstruction of the highway from County Road 70S (CR-406) north to Walnut Avenue in Hoxie. During construction, motorists will be directed to follow the state-route detour on I-70, U.S. 83 and U.S. 24.KDOT expects the road to reopen in late October, conditions permitting.Sporer Land Development of Oakley is the primary contractor for the $19 million project, which is part of KDOT’s Eisenhower Legacy Transportation Program, known as IKE. We continue to pursue change here at the ranch, but one thing that has remained the same this past year is the drought…it has been persistent for us as it has for many of our friends and neighbors. Spring and most of the summer were exceptionally dry, and we finally saw some relief in August which did allow the grass to grow as well as our calf crop. The amount of weight gained from preconditioning to shortly after weaning was impressive and we feel that we have the deepest offering we have ever produced. In addition, we have also continued to use new technologies that help solidify our decisions and aid you in your decision-making process when selecting seedstock cattle (RightMate and RIghChoice). This is the first set of calves that we have offered using the RightMate technology and we feel the proof is in the pen!

In this year’s offering you will find many new blood lines that have been added to our lineup. The ET calves out of RFS Luna x Hercules and RFS Luna x Burley have done nothing but raise the bar and will be recognized by many. Her full brother, RFS Bruno, has added a great set of progeny with his first calf crop and is passing along the kind of genetics we feel are needed in the industry. KBHR Charger calves have also hit many of the marks that we planned on and they carry great phenotype, maternal, carcass and calving ease traits. Burley, Moab and Jefferson are new sires that we implemented into our AI program who will provide additional performance all while keeping calving ease in check. Some familiar faces such as 38 Special, Red River, BB Propulsion, Leland Propulsion and Pathfinder have continued their productive ways and put together another great set of bulls and heifers.

Remember when evaluating the bulls in the offering to take note of the RightChoice symbols (additional information on page 7). These are for you to use when sorting through the cattle along with the use of DNA which we have collected over the last 8 years. This is a third-party accredited program that we have access to. This is not available industry wide, which is why it makes the purchasing of seedstock from us a little different than other operations who do not have this tool. KOERNER: Upcoming nutrition workshops

COLBY — In 2023, a group of concerned parents started searching for a way to bring an accessible park to the community of Colby.

They strongly believed that playgrounds are an essential part of a child's development. Not only do they get to play, but opportunities arrive to teach problem solving, communication, adventure and friendships. 

But what they didn't know (until they experienced it first-hand) was just how difficult traditional parks are for those in the disability community. They have not been built to allow all people with varying abilities to play, they are hard to maneuver and most times very unsafe, which causes many children to be sidelined or even in some cases injured. 

During their search for a means to bring this type of park to life, they were presented with a partnership to join the local Kiwanis Club wanting to renovate an existing park, and the collaboration began to not only build a new accessible playground but honor a local man's legacy to the club while doing so. 

In June of 2024, the partnership between the parents, Kiwanis Club of Thomas County/Colby, Colby Rotary Club, the City of Colby and the Thomas County Community Foundation kicked off its fundraising efforts to make this park a reality, with a goal of roughly $500,000.

 Guided by Play4All, they have devoted their time to spreading awareness through parade participation, presenting to local community organizations, taking over their local radio station and social media campaigns, as well as hosting pancake feeds, food truck fundraisers, T-shirt sales and a grassroots Push for the Park Community Campaign, raising funds directly from the local business community.

 Their efforts have been wildly successful and the project funding is near completion. 

Once funded the construction with Cunningham Recreation will begin this spring.

The playground will feature a zip line, swings, inclusive whirl and more, all safely built with accessible surfacing for people of all abilities to enjoy. 

They will be hosting a groundbreaking ceremony on Friday, March 21 at 10:00 a.m. at Villa High Park and&nbsp;all are invited to attend.

The year was 1957; the date was somewhere between March 1 and May 1 depending on whose account you read. 

As quoted in the July 1957 issue of Kansas Fish and Game magazine, “The first light of dawn revealed a dismal scene. Light rain was falling and the dark skies overhead gave indication that the day would be unpleasant. Even so, an estimated 80 to 100 fishermen huddled in raincoats and waited in cars for the gun which would signal that fishing time had arrived. A few had been at the lake overnight sleeping in tents or cars.

"The sound of the shot echoed from the hills and baits hit the water. Spinning tackle, bait casting outfits and fly rods were all in evidence. Fish which had never seen a plug, spinner or baited hook were the object of all this activity. Would they be hungry on such a damp and chilly morning?”

 This was the scene on opening morning of the first day ever of fishing at McPherson State Fishing Lake. And yes, according to the article, the fish were hungry and fishing was “fabulous” that day.

Even though a lake was planned for Maxwell Wildlife Refuge, the story goes that a large sportsman’s club active in McPherson at the time was largely influential in getting McPherson State Fishing Lake built so club members would have a closer lake to fish than driving to Kanopolis.

So, in 1954, a 750-foot-long dam with a spillway was built across a tributary of the Gypsum Creek System, known locally as Battle Creek, which runs through the north end of the refuge. The creek already contained a couple deep holes that held fish plus several springs, so by 1955 the new dam had already retained enough water to allow stocking of the lake with largemouth bass and channel catfish.

Today, McPherson State Fishing Lake covers about 46 acres when full and is over twenty feet deep at its deepest. The west side of the lake offers a nice boat ramp and parking lot big enough for several vehicles and boat trailers. 

The banks surrounding the upper end of the lake are nicely shaded with trees left from a timber claim in the 1800s where parcels of land were deeded to private owners in return for their promise to plant trees on the property. 

Several primitive campsites with picnic tables are available for campers and fishermen, as well as a cabin to rent. Three long rock fishing piers stick out into the lake along the shore&nbsp;of the campground. 

McPherson State Fishing Lake is known for producing nice largemouth bass and channel catfish, but crappie and saugeye also swim its waters.

 In the mid-1990s, two fish feeders were added to feed and to act as attractors for channel catfish. Numerous brush piles have been added over the years and are marked by GPS so their locations can be accessed through the link on the Kansas Department of Wildlife, Parks and Tourism website.

In May of 1956, volunteers from local oil patches built an observation tower from used oil well pipe and erected it on a high point above the lake. The upper deck was 24 feet above the ground, allowing visitors to see much more of the Refuge. Many days, parts of the elk and bison herds could be seen lounging on far away hillsides. 

If you haven't visited Maxwell for a while, you’ll notice that tower is gone, as it had rusted and deteriorated to the point where it was no longer considered safe. A new observation deck, much like the ones at Quivira National Wildlife Refuge near Stafford, is planned in its place.

I think John Maxwell would be as proud of the lake as he would be of the wildlife preserve bearing his name. 

Although the fishing at McPherson State Fishing Lake will probably never be as good as on that opening morning in 1957, it is much closer than Kanopolis and its clear spring fed waters and shady campground make the lake worthy of a day’s fishing as you continue to Explore Kansas Outdoors.

Explore Outdoor Kansas: McPherson State Fishing Lake worthy of a trip

A FHSU presentation highlighted the need for diversity, equity, and inclusion, also known as DEI, initiatives in different institutions.

Presented by FHSU's American Democracy Project, Black Student Union Vice President Genisis Wilson discussed the role of DEI in education, the workforce and minorities' everyday lives.

"Centuries of slavery, segregation and systemic racism have left lasting scars on the black communities. DEI policies address their long-standing disparities by leveling these playing fields in education, employment and health care," she said.

She shared statistics showing that companies with diverse leadership achieve stronger financial performance. They are also 70% more likely to enter new markets and generate 19% higher innovation revenue.

Wilson cited a 2018 McKinsey Global Institute statistic, saying that achieving full gender equality in the workforce could have contributed $28 trillion to global global domestic product by 2025 at its full potential.

"If we just had a labor market that was equal, our GDP would go up every place we look at and everywhere we look, whether it's revenue innovation or GDP. Having more diverse people there overall puts us higher in every sector," Wilson said.

An attendee asked Wilson about the recent push to eliminate DEI initiatives and policies. She explained that it is a political strategy by the Trump administration to rally support around a common cause, drawing parallels to the sense of unity after the World Wars and 9/11.

"The reason that DEI is such a hot topic is it is something to band together with," she said. "Groups of people need shared enemies, sometimes to come together."

In addition to serving as vice president of the Black Student Union, she is an active member of the Young Democrats, Pre-Med Club, Women in STEM and a vocal activist.

Wilson said while executive orders restricting DEI have not yet impacted the Black Student Union’s events or mission, there are growing concerns about potential future effects.

"We're glad that it's not affecting us yet, but when it does affect us, we have to know that there's a community behind us," she said.

Wilson said DEI must go beyond representation, incorporating structural accommodations to ensure marginalized groups have decision-making power and access to opportunities.

However, she acknowledges some groups, particularly disabled individuals and immigrants, often do not benefit from DEI as much as they should.

"DEI is a stepping stone. I don't think it's an end all be all," Wilson said.

Wilson said the historical misrepresentation of Black leaders underscores the need for DEI in education. She elaborated on this by providing additional background on Martin Luther King Jr., Harriet Tubman, George Washington Carver and Dr. Charles Drew.

Wilson highlighted racial disparities in health care, discussing how systemic racism affects Black Americans' health outcomes and access to medical services.

She said medical biases continue to impact health care quality, contributing to higher infant mortality rates, shorter life expectancy and mistreatment in medical settings.

"As recently as 2016, a [NIH] study found that continued widespread beliefs among white medical students that they believe in biological differences between black and white people," Wilson said. "Including believing black people have thicker skin than white people and that their blood coagulates more quickly."

Wilson said some medical students still believe the false notion that Black people have a higher pain tolerance, which fuels mistrust in the health care system and results in delayed or inadequate treatment.

Wilson provided statistics. Black infants have a mortality rate of 39.9 per 100,000 live births, compared to 14.1 for white infants, and that Black Americans have a life expectancy almost five years shorter than their white counterparts.

As some institutions remove DEI in response to political backlash, Wilson urges others to hold leaders accountable and advocate for DEI policies in workplaces and schools, even if they are not explicitly labeled as such.

"The Black Student Union had a lot of conversations, 'OK, how can we word this away from [DEI]... how can we talk about this without saying DEI?'" she said.

An attendee asked Wilson how to engage with someone misinformed or strongly opposed to DEI. She advised starting the conversation with a simple question.

“Why do you think that way?” Wilson said. “It starts to break down their ideas, and if it's not based on any sort of logic, it’s easily [disputable].”

She elaborated on this by providing additional background on Martin Luther King Jr., Harriet Tubman, George Washington Carver and Dr. Charles Drew.Wilson highlighted racial disparities in health care, discussing how systemic racism affects Black Americans' health outcomes and access to medical services.She said medical biases continue to impact health care quality, contributing to higher infant mortality rates, shorter life expectancy and mistreatment in medical settings."As recently as 2016, a [NIH] study found that continued widespread beliefs among white medical students that they believe in biological differences between black and white people," Wilson said. "Including believing black people have thicker skin than white people and that their blood coagulates more quickly."Wilson said some medical students still believe the false notion that Black people have a higher pain tolerance, which fuels mistrust in the health care system and results in delayed or inadequate treatment.Wilson provided statistics. Black infants have a mortality rate of 39.9 per 100,000 live births, compared to 14.1 for white infants, and that Black Americans have a life expectancy almost five years shorter than their white counterparts.As some institutions remove DEI in response to political backlash, Wilson urges others to hold leaders accountable and advocate for DEI policies in workplaces and schools, even if they are not explicitly labeled as such."The Black Student Union had a lot of conversations, 'OK, how can we word this away from [DEI]... how can we talk about this without saying DEI?'" she said.An attendee asked Wilson how to engage with someone misinformed or strongly opposed to DEI. She advised starting the conversation with a simple question.“Why do you think that way?” Wilson said. “It starts to break down their ideas, and if it's not based on any sort of logic, it’s easily [disputable].”

LAWRENCE — The University of Kansas School of Music is proud to announce an outreach tour&nbsp;featuring the KU Wind Ensemble, under the direction of Matt Smith. 

The band will embark on a two-day&nbsp;tour across central and western Kansas, performing five concerts for students and the public.

The tour will take place on March 31 and April 1, with performances at high schools in Clay Center,&nbsp;Junction City, Hays, Garden City, and Dodge City. 

These concerts will provide students and community&nbsp;members with an opportunity to foster a connection with the university and experience one of the&nbsp;nation’s premier collegiate wind ensembles.

"We are thrilled to share the joy of live music with students and audiences across Kansas," said Matt&nbsp;Smith, co-conductor of the KU Wind Ensemble. "Music has the power to inspire, educate, and connect&nbsp;us, and we look forward to engaging with these communities and nurturing a love for the arts."

RUSSELL COUNTY —Two people were injured in an accident just after 9a.m. Saturday in Russell County.

The Kansas Highway Patrol reported a 2013 Hyundai Santa Fe driven by Todd D. Sinclair, 43, WaKeeney, was westbound on Interstate 70 just east of U.S. Highway 40. The SUV entered the north ditch, struck a concrete culvert.&nbsp;

EMS transported Sinclair and a passenger Benjamin D&nbsp;Sinclair, 19, Jetmore, to Russell Regional Hospital. The driver was not wearing a seat belt, according to the KHP.

2 Kansas men hospitalized after I-70 SUV crash

Roger Golubski <a target="_blank" href="https://www.kcur.org/news/2024-12-02/roger-golubski-civil-rights-trial-kansas-city-kckpd-police">died of an apparent suicide</a> on December 2, 2024, the day his trial was scheduled to begin. His crimes did not die with him.

Golubski was a Kansas City, Kansas police officer from 1975 to 2010.&nbsp; According to the <a target="_blank" href="https://kansasreflector.com/2024/12/02/roger-golubski-ex-kckpd-detective-accused-of-abuse-dead-of-apparent-suicide-before-trial/">charges filed against him in federal court</a>, Golubski conducted a reign of terror against African-American and Hispanic residents of KCK during that time.

Charges included raping several women, including one 16-year-old, other sexual abuses against women and girls as young as 13, kidnapping, running a sex trafficking ring of underage girls, and knowingly sending innocent people to prison. His usual method of operation was to trap women by threatening to send them or their family members to prison or take away custody of their children if they did not submit to him. His favorite targets included sex workers and mothers who had children facing criminal charges.&nbsp;&nbsp;

It all started to fall apart for Golubski when Lamonte McIntyre was exonerated in 2017. McIntyre had spent 23 years in prison. Only 16 when arrested, he had spent most of his life behind bars for a crime he did not commit.&nbsp; 

Golubski had set McIntyre up to take the fall.&nbsp; 

Together with his mother, McIntyre later won a $12.5 million settlement against the Unified Government, a figure so large they had to issue bonds to pay it.

During the lead-up to the trial, Golubski’s lawyer accused the victims of only coming forward after the settlement, in hopes of getting money. It was later shown that Golubski faced citizen complaints dating from his first year on the job, but they were all ignored, minimized, lost, or sealed.

Unlike his victims, Golubski was given privileges while awaiting his trial, including house arrest instead of jail. Ostensibly, this was because he had failing kidneys and required dialysis, but Golubski was also spotted going out for fast food during this period.

 He was able to subvert release requirements that he surrender all weapons, successfully concealing a handgun in his home. Ultimately, Golubski used it to take his own life rather than face the victims who had been waiting for decades to confront him.

Golubski was only able to conduct this 35-year reign of terror because he was enabled by the KCK police department, along with the Wyandotte County and KCK city governments. Other officers–even those in neighboring cities–<a target="_blank" href="https://www.kcur.org/overlooked">knew of his abuses</a> and said nothing.&nbsp; Fellow KCK officers dismissed it as “just Roger being Roger.” Kansas City, Missouri police said, “it’s different over there (in KCK).”

More than two years after his arrest, and after decades of allegedly terrorizing the Black men and women of Kansas.

The investigation needs to be renewed, and this time, the entire KCK Police Department, Wyandotte County prosecutor’s office, city, and county governments need to be investigated.&nbsp; 

Unfortunately, this is highly unlikely at the federal level.&nbsp; 

Proponents of such an investigation include More2 (“More-squared”), a Kansas City interfaith organization that has been outspoken for years about Golubski.&nbsp; I serve on the More2 Board. We had hoped to wrap up the federal trial before the Trump Administration took office, fearing that otherwise they would drop the charges.

Now Golubski is gone, and some of his victims died under very mysterious circumstances. Yet many of those who enabled Golubski’s crimes are still alive, as are many other victims.
