A portion of K-23 in Sheridan County was among 11 expansion and modernization projects that were recently moved into the Eisenhower Legacy Transportation Plan construction pipeline.

The Kansas Department of Transportation project will reconstruct and add shoulders on 6 miles of highway starting at Walnut Avenue in Hoxie and ending approximately one-quarter mile south of County Road 70 South (CR-406). KDOT will also replace the bridges located along the route over the South Fork Solomon River and Sand Creek.

The project is currently scheduled to let for construction in early 2024. Work is expected to begin in 2025 and will require the road to be closed with a state route detour in place.

The Twist Out Cancer Yoga-thon will be 3 to 8 p.m. Thursday, Nov. 10, in Cunningham Hall 122.

The Cancer Council of Ellis County and Fort Hays State University would like for you to join us in the fight against cancer by participating in the Yoga-thon.<br>

Teams are allowed up to 10 members for a $50 registration fee.  Team members don’t have to know how to do Yoga to participate. Yoga leaders will be there to instruct during each session.

In addition, teams are encouraged to find and collect donations to help raise money for the Cancer Council of Ellis County.  The team that raises the most money will be honored at the FHSU Basketball game on Dec. 1.

The PYW-FCE of Dorrance soup feed will be 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. Saturday, Nov. 12 at the Dorrance Community Shop Building in Dorrance.<br>

Homemade chicken and noodle soup, chili soup, ham and bean soup, vegetable beef soup, sandwiches, pies, and drinks will be served. The noodles are even homemade. 

Bring the whole family to enjoy their favorite soups. This is the opening day for pheasant hunters, and we invite everyone to join us for a good cup of hot soup.

The Union Pacific Railroad crossing on U.S. 83 near Oakley is scheduled to be closed for repairs Nov. 3 and 4.

During the work, U.S. 83 will be closed in both directions at the crossing, which is located just north of the U.S. 40 junction. Local traffic may continue to access the road up to the closure point. Through traffic will be detoured on Interstate 70 and U.S. 40.

Union Pacific and its traffic control subcontractor will oversee the repairs of the crossing and traffic control signing.

Hays - Volleytech Sports Club will be hosting tryouts this Sunday, October 30th at Hays Middle School. There will be two times for players to tryout and split by age group. This will be for winter teams in 2023.

11's, 12's and 13's will begin at 1:00 and go until 2:30.

Beginning at 2:30 will be the tryouts for 14's, 15's, 16's and 17's.&nbsp;

The project will now begin at 9 a.m. Wednesday and will reopen when the project is completed.

Grants Villa Road.

alternate routes of travel until the project is complete.

On Oct. 18 at the Ransom SFE location, Harold Kisslinger was presented with a 40-year plaque, Lori Kisslinger received a 35-year plaque and Jason Pavlu was awarded a 25-year plaque. Jed Simpson presented the plaques and recounted historical facts that occurred during the year that each employee started with the company.

LOGAN — A well-used,&nbsp;personalized&nbsp;easel, numerous paint brushes,&nbsp;handmade greeting cards, original oil paintings, and more&nbsp;await you at the Hansen Museum.&nbsp;These&nbsp;magnificent&nbsp;artifacts in&nbsp;our&nbsp;current&nbsp;exhibit,&nbsp;Jerry &amp; Cat’s Collection of Bob Ross Memorabilia,&nbsp;on display until&nbsp;Nov. 6 enthralls&nbsp;visitors&nbsp;from the moment they step through&nbsp;the door.

As unique as it is fascinating,&nbsp;this exhibition&nbsp;gives&nbsp;viewers a rare glimpse inside&nbsp;the life&nbsp;of pop&nbsp;icon,&nbsp;the late Bob Ross. &nbsp;This personal collection began with an original painting and grew to&nbsp;include all&nbsp;manner of artifacts, including a pair of Ross’ blue jeans. &nbsp;Born of love,&nbsp;owners,&nbsp;Jerry and Cat Nibarger (Acworth, Georgia),&nbsp;grew up watching&nbsp;Ross’&nbsp;Joy of Painting&nbsp;PBS&nbsp;television program&nbsp;and began collecting&nbsp;Ross artifacts&nbsp;in 2016&nbsp;(before the resurgence of Bob Ross popularity). &nbsp;It is the Hansen Museum’s distinct pleasure to debut this never-before-seen collection.

The Museum is open Monday through Friday 9-12 and 1-4; Saturdays 9-12 &amp; 1-5; Sundays and holidays 1-5.&nbsp;
