New water metering system installation begins in Hays

The City of Hays is launching the installation of a new advanced metering infrastructure (AMI) system for its water utility. This upgrade will replace every residential and commercial water meter in Hays with technology capable of wirelessly sending usage data to the Department of Water Resources.

“It’s our goal to enhance accuracy in water usage reporting, detect leaks more swiftly, and offer better customer service,” said Jeff Crispin, City of Hays director of Water Resources. “This advanced metering technology demonstrates our commitment to providing forward-thinking solutions for our community.”

What to Expect

  1. Installation starts this week and will take up to six months to complete.
  2. Postcards with more information will be sent to all properties in the city.
  3. Door hangers will be left at your property’s main entrance once the upgrade is finished.
