Aging agency to present on financial benefits at Oakley Senior Center

Northwest Kansas Area Agency on Aging will be at the Oakley Senior Center to present information on programs that offer financial benefits to eligible individuals. This presentation will be at 11:30 a.m. Wednesday, Feb. 7 and anyone is welcome to attend and participate in the lunchtime meal. To sign up for a meal, please call the Senior Center at 785-671-3903. You must call before 11 am the day before to reserve a meal which is $6.75 for guests under 60. For individuals 60 and over, a donation of $3.75 is requested for the lunch meal.

A Benefits Enrollment Specialist will be available to complete a personalized Benefits Checkup, discuss what programs are available and eligibility requirements for these programs.

Applications are being accepted for the Low-Income Energy Assistance Program (LIEAP).

LIEAP provides an annual benefit to help qualifying households pay winter heating bills.

Individuals with disabilities, older adults and families with children are the primary groups assisted. The deadline for LIEAP applications is March 29.

The Benefits Enrollment Specialist can also assist in completing many other benefit applications including those for prescription drug assistance from sources other than Medicare Part D.
