The National Weather Service office in Dodge City is reporting an increasing confidence of impactful severe weather for central Kansas late Sunday afternoon into the evening.

The area of severe weather looks to be along and northeast of a Ness City to Pratt line, the weather service said.

The environment will favor supercell thunderstorm development with high confidence in large hail larger than 2 inches in diameter, with the potential for giant hail of 4 inches in diameter or larger, the weather service said.

There is also a tornado threat, especially on Sunday evenings.

The forecast shows less confidence in severe storms west of Hays.

A chance of thunderstorms for Hays returns Monday night and runs through Tuesday night.

Highs will range from the upper 70s Saturday and Sunday to the mid-80s on Monday in Hays.
