The Kansas Department of Transportation plans to close a portion of U.S. 281 in Russell County to through traffic on Monday, March 15, weather permitting.

The closure will begin at 15th&nbsp;Street in Russell and extend north to Land Road. Traffic will be detoured via I-70, K-232 and K-18.

The closure is part of a $9.8 million T-WORKS project to rehabilitate and reconstruct approximately 4 miles of U.S. 281 in Russell County. Work began in March 2020 and is expected to be complete in December 2021.
