The Kansas Department of Transportation plans to begin work on a resurfacing project on 8 miles of U.S. 36 in Norton County on Aug. 12.
The project area begins at the east K-383 junction and ends at the Phillips County line. Work will include a surface recycle on the existing pavement, followed by a chip seal and installation of centerline rumble strips. Traffic will be reduced to one lane through the work zone and directed by flaggers and a pilot car. Motorists should be aware to expect possible delays of up to 15 minutes in the construction area.
KDOT plans to complete the project by the end of September, weather permitting.
Dustrol Inc. of Towanda is the primary contractor for the $912,000 project. For more information, contact KDOT area construction engineer Jim Riener at 785-543-2163 or [email protected].
