On Thursday, March 19 at 6 p.m., Tracy King, MSN, APRN, WHNP-BC, will host a free community event called "Midlife Hits Different: Let's Talk About It" at BriefSpace, 219 W. 10th Street, Hays.

The event is open to women in the community and seating is limited to 12 to facilitate a truly intimate experience.

The conversation will focus on what actually happens to women's bodies, hormones and health during midlife — and why so many women feel dismissed, confused or brushed off by the traditional healthcare system when they try to get answers.

"Women are not declining. They are recalibrating," said King. "But when your body stops making sense and your doctor tells you everything looks normal, that's not a diagnosis — that's a dismissal. This conversation exists to change that."

King is a women's health nurse practitioner with over 25 years of clinical experience across hospital systems, academic institutions and private practice. She recently relocated to Hays and is partnering with Grow Hays and BriefSpace to build a presence in the community.

The March 19 event is the first in what King plans to become a recurring series, with upcoming conversations planned for Las Vegas, Denver and Tallahassee later this spring.
