Hays Arts Council
The Hays Arts Council has announced its Summer 2026 class offerings, featuring a variety of visual and performing arts opportunities for youth, teens, and the broader community.
Registration will open in phases this year.
Beginning April 1, registration is open for free arts and crafts classes offered in partnership with the Hays Public Library, with registration available online through the library’s event calendar.
Programming includes a variety of hands-on classes for ages 5–13, such as jewelry making, watercolor, global art exploration and nature-inspired projects, held on Monday mornings throughout June and July, along with a recurring Summer Makers Workshop series on Friday mornings.
Beginning May 1, registration will open through the Hays Arts Council for theatre, music, and collaborative classes.
Theatre offerings include a two-week acting workshop with a public performance in June for ages 8–11 and 11–14, as well as storybook-based acting classes in July for ages 5–8 and 9–11.
Music classes will feature guitar in June and ukulele in July for ages 6–9 and 10–15.
Registration will also open for Sternberg Animal Experience classes, offered in collaboration with the Sternberg Museum of Natural History.
Participants may register online, in person at the Hadley Center, or by mail.
The Hays Arts Council is currently operating in temporary spaces during a year of renovation and transition, but remains committed to providing accessible arts programming.
“We appreciate the community’s patience and continued support,” said Chandler Reich, executive director. “We’re excited to offer another season of creative opportunities for all ages, and we're grateful for our partnership with the Hays Public Library.”
As the Hays Arts Council prepares to reopen new and improved art education facilities in 2027, we are piloting adult class offerings.
Details are still being developed in partnership with area artists for classes in watercolor and acrylic painting. Registration will open later this summer.
