Snow is expected to begin in northwest Kansas overnight and spread eastward, according to the National Weather Service.
The Hays area is forecast for about 2 inches of snow. The National Weather Service was forecasting as of 7 a.m. Thursday that snow should begin in Hays at about 6 p.m.
The precipitation may start as rain and change quickly to snow.
The snow should come to an end on Friday.
A winter weather alert has been issued for the area starting at 8 p.m. Thursday through noon Friday.
Plan on slippery road conditions. The hazardous conditions could impact the morning commute.
