⚾Phillies pick former Ellis standout Cain in MLB Draft

The Philadelphia Phillies selected Tegan Cain in the 13th round of the Major League Baseball Draft Tuesday in Arlington, Texas.

Cain, the Ellis Native, finished his junior season at the University of Kansas with a 1-2 record and a 5.64 ERA. In 33 1/3 innings pitched Cain allowed 22 earned runs with 47 strikeouts and he surrendered just 18 walks in 27 appearances.

Prior to attending Kansas, Cain spent two season at Barton Community College where he finished with a 9-4 career record and a 4.31 ERA in 29 appearances.

At Ellis, in high school, Cain finished with a 20-2 record and 2.12 ERA. In 102 1/3 innings pitched he had 50 walks and 203 career strikeouts.

Cain has one year of eligibility at Kansas and could return to Lawrence for his senior season.
