USD 489 Preschool
The USD 489 Preschool is designed to meet the growing demand for additional quality preschool education for our community.
This self-funding preschool classroom will be taught by a certified elementary teacher and assisted by a para-educator.
Research studies conclude that instruction from a certified teacher leads to high-quality and better outcomes for a 3 and 4 year old.
The preschool teacher’s verbal directions, physical assistance and questioning, help children improve their skills and knowledge. To meet individual student needs, the teacher’s expertise enhances observations and instruction.
The primary focus for the instructional day will include both cognitive and social skills. Fine motor skills, gross motor skills as well as music, art and academic readiness skills will be a part of our preschool curriculum.
The USD 489 preschool sessions will follow the current USD 489 calendar and will run five days per week.
