Ellis County (three down, five right from northwest corner of map) remains in a moderate drought, despite a winter snow storm the last week of January.

The Feb. 4 weekly report comes from the U.S. Drought Monitor.

Hays received eight inches of snow in the Jan. 25-26 storm, yielding 0.64 inches of moisture, the first recorded during 2021.

The southern most section of Ellis County is in slightly better condition, rated moderately dry.

Counties in extreme northwest Kansas are in severe to extreme drought.
