Just shy of 8" of snow in Hays during two-day winter storm

Another two inches of snow fell in Hays late Tuesday, bringing the two-day winter storm snowfall total to 7.8 inches.

According to the official report from the K-State Agricultural Research Center, the moisture total in Hays so far in January is 0.64 inches.

The snow was the first moisture measured this year. The January average moisture total in Hays is 0.46 inches.

The snowfall depth for the season is at 11.6 inches.

Tuesday's overnight low fell to 1 degree. Cold, but not a record for January 26. That was -19 degrees, back in 1963. 

Warmer temperatures and sunshine are in the weather forecast for Hays.
