NORTON — The Kansas Department of Transportation has started work on a bridge repair project on U.S. 183 in northern Ellis County.
Crews are making surface and substructure improvements to the bridge carrying U.S. 183 over the Saline River, located approximately 14 miles north of Hays. The project was originally scheduled to begin in May but was postponed because of scheduling issues.
Traffic is reduced to one lane through the work zone and is being directed by temporary traffic signals. Motorists should expect minor delays of up to five minutes.
The $340,000 project is scheduled to be completed by the end of October, conditions permitting. Reece Construction, of Salina, is the primary contractor.
KDOT reminds motorists to stay alert, follow posted signs and refrain from using hand-held mobile devices in all active work zones.
