Ellis Co. per-day average rises again; 83 new cases reported

The Ellis County Health Department on Monday reported the average number of new coronavirus cases per day in the last seven days rose again from 37 on Friday to 40 on Monday.

There were 83 new cases of COVID-19 identified in Ellis County since Friday. There are currently 476 active cases, including 15 active hospitalizations, and 1,713 recovered cases.

The seven-day average of percent of positive tests fell to 36.4 percent after topping 40 percent on Friday's report.

Since reporting began, there have been 2,212 cases of COVID-19 identified in Ellis County, including 23 coronavirus-related deaths.

Of the total 12,602 tests administered, 16.5 percent have returned positive for COVID-19.

NOTE: "New cases" reflects cases reported by the Ellis County Health Department between regular reporting periods of Monday, Wednesday and Friday. "Total cases" reflects all cases reported by the department. Because of delayed test results, total cases might include cases prior to the previous reporting period, so the figures might not necessarily correspond.
