The board of directors and staff of Divine Mercy Radio, Inc. based in Hays, will celebrate the start of the network’s fifth station, 89.1, KGOH in Colby. The celebration will take place with a tower blessing and supper Sunday, June 4.
“This latest station has been a labor of love for the people in western Kansas,” said Donetta Robben, executive director. “We look forward to celebrating with our new listeners.”
Blessing of the tower will take place at 5 p.m. at the tower site, which is located one mile south of the Oasis Travel Center in Colby. Father Fred Gatschet, Vicar General of the Diocese of Salina, will conduct the blessing. Supper will follow at City Limits, 227 S Range Ave. in Colby. The supper is limited to the first 100 people, so RSVPs are necessary and can be made by emailing [email protected] or calling the station at 785.621.4110.
There will also be a Hays City Chamber Chat and Ribbon Cutting at the Fox Theatre in Hays at 9 a.m., June 30.
Divine Mercy Radio began broadcasting in 2010 with 88.1 KVDM, Hays, which is currently broadcasting EWTN classics. Since then, Divine Mercy Radio has added four more stations, 88.1, KRTT, Great Bend, 101.7, KJDM Lindsborg/Salina, 105.7 KMDG, Hays, and 89.1, KGOH, Colby, which was officially on the air May 9.
