“Round `em up and ride” to the Hays Public Library for the Kansas Cowboy Poetry Contest on Friday, May 19 at 6 p.m.  Cowboy poets will be competing to see who is the best rhymer of the west.

The Hays Public Library, 1205 Main Street, will be hosting this regional contest for those presenting original cowboy poetry:  rhyming verse with a western theme.  Poets will be presenting in two categories:  Serious and Humorous.  Contestants are judged on quality, theme, and presentation. The winning poets advance to the state finals, to be held on June 9 in Manhattan.

Anyone is welcome to enter the contest as long as the poems which they present are their original writing.  Entries can be submitted online at www.cowboypoetrycontest.com.

The public is invited to attend for free.
