
Chamber in Hays
On Oct. 5, Ellis County and residents in the surrounding counties will have the opportunity to hear from the U.S. House, 1st District (Kansas) race candidates during an election forum. The event will be held at Beach/Schmidt Performing Arts Center at 600 Park St. from 7:30 to 8:30 p.m.
Participating candidates include incumbent U.S. Congressman Tracey Mann (Republican), Lauren Reinheld (Democrat), and Steven Jacob (Libertarian). Each candidate will have two minutes for opening statements before shifting to a Q&A session.
On October 13 there will be another forum that will feature candidates from the Kansas State House 110th District and one for the Kansas State House 111th. This forum will also take place at Beach/Schmidt Performing Arts Center at 600 Park St. from 7 to 8:30 p.m. and follow the same format with opening and closing remarks and questions provided by a moderator.
Incumbent Kansas Representative Ken Rahjes (Republican) and Mark Schaukowitch (Democrat) will represent the candidates on the ballot for the 110th District race. Incumbent Kansas Representative Barb Wasinger (Republican) and Melanie McMillan (Democrat) will represent the candidates on the ballot for the 111th District race.
Moderators for both forums will include FHSU Docking Institute Director | Sociology Chair Brett Zollinger, Ph.D., and FHSU Student Government Association Legislator Affairs Director Mayan Paz.
