The City of Hays has scheduled its annual Fall Cleanup, a large-scale collection service for bulky waste, to begin at 7:00 a.m. on Monday, October 20. Residents can begin placing items out for collection on Friday, October 17.

This event is an opportunity for residents to discard items that are not accepted during regular weekly refuse collection, such as old furniture, appliances, and minor project debris.

To ensure collection, all items must be placed at the resident’s designated pickup location by the 7:00 a.m. deadline. While residents may begin placing items out as early as October 17, the start time on October 20 is firm.

It is critical for residents to understand that city crews will make only one single pass through the city. Due to the scale of this operation, crews cannot return to streets that have already been serviced.

No specific neighborhood schedule will be provided.

Residents must place materials exactly where their normal trash is collected; if you have curb pickup, use the curb, and if you have alley pickup, use the alley.

Planning ahead is the best way to ensure items are not missed. The success of this city-wide effort relies on the cooperation of all residents.
