Residents of Ellis County and surrounding communities are invited to attend a special public event featuring Kansas State Treasurer Steven Johnson, hosted by the Hays Sunrise Rotary and the FHSU Rotaract Club.

The event will take place Thursday, April 23 at 5:00 p.m. at the newly-opened Bickle-Schmidt Athletic Training Facility, located adjacent to south end zone of Lewis Field on the campus of Fort Hays State University (inside the stone wall).

This free, public event offers a chance to hear directly from Treasurer Johnson about the work of the Kansas State Treasurer’s Office, including:

· Reuniting missing money with Kansas families and businesses

· Expanding financial literacy efforts across the state

· Enhancing the Kansas 529 education savings program

· Strengthening transparency and oversight of state funds

A key highlight of the event will be an opportunity for attendees to search for unclaimed property.

Currently, one in seven Kansans has missing money, with more than $3 million owed to residents of Ellis County alone. Community members are encouraged to attend and check whether they or their family members have funds waiting to be claimed.

“This is a unique opportunity for our community to meet Treasurer Johnson and learn more about the valuable services the Treasurer’s Office provides to all Kansans,” said Sunrise Rotary Club President Allen Park.

“We’re especially grateful to Fort Hays State University Athletics for allowing us to host this event in the new Bickle-Schmidt Athletic Training Facility—a space many in the community have not yet had the chance to visit. We encourage everyone to join us for this free event, connect with a state leader, and learn more about resources available.”

The event is open to the public, and all are welcome to attend.
