Friday deadline for Ellis Co. Wheat Demo Plot Field Day signup

Kansas ranks No. 1 in the U.S. for the production of winter wheat.

In 2021, Kansas farmers harvested seven million acres of winter wheat, producing 364 million bushels and the state produced about 22% of the nation’s wheat.

Farmers and anyone else interested are invited to attend the annual Ellis County Wheat Demonstration Plot Field Day on Thursday, June 1 beginning at 6:00 p.m.

A complimentary meal and refreshments will be provided courtesy of sponsors.

Neil Gottschalk is the farmer cooperator. Location is at the intersection of Golf Course Road and 180th Avenue; turn south onto 180th Avenue and go 1.5 miles.

In case of inclement weather, it will be held at the K-State Agricultural Research Center – Hays auditorium, 1232 240th Avenue.
