On Saturday first responders, law enforcement, veterans and area residents lined the roadways as the Dignified Honors Motorcade for Donald Stratton passed through the region.

The motorcade stopped briefly in WaKeeney to refuel, where a fresh group of Kansas Patriot Guard riders was waiting to escort the motorcade east towards its ultimate destination of Red Cloud, Neb. where Stratton will be buried with full military honors in a ceremony at 11 a.m. Monday.

Shortly before the motorcade arrived in WaKeeney a member of the guard was killed in an accident that led to another fatal crash just minutes later.

Despite the accidents, the motorcade arrived safely.
