A Dignified Honors Motorcade for Donald Stratton is set to pass through the area on Saturday and the public is invited to line the route in honor the WW II veteran and author.
Stratton survived the attack on Pearl Harbor aboard the USS Arizona on Dec. 7, 1941, and in later years dedicated his time to honoring his shipmates and others that died during the attack.
After being injured during the bombing, Stratton was given a medical discharge but re-enlisted and served until 1946.
Stratton died on Feb. 15 at the age of 97 at his home in Colorado Springs, Colo.
"The Federal Protection Agency is humbled and honored to provide the Dignified Honors Motorcade for Donald Stratton," the agency said.
The motorcade will begin in Colorado Springs, Colo. and travel to Red Cloud, Neb. where Stratton will be given full military honors.
"The public is encouraged and welcome to show their respect and gratitude by lining the route with signs/flags but we ask that you do not stop on the highway, please find a place that is safe for you as well as all others and that you do not impede the procession," the agency said.
