Hays breaks nearly 100-year-old record high temperature

A new record high was set in Hays for February 2.

According to official statistics from the K-State Agricultural Research Center, Sunday's temperature soared to 80 degrees. The previous high on that date was 76 degrees back in 1924, 96 years ago.

Sunday's overnight low dipped to 32 degrees and it won't get much warmer than that today.

Winter weather returns this week with a forecast high of 36 degrees Monday and 26 degrees Tuesday with a 50 percent chance of snow both days.
