The Kansas Department of Transportation plans to begin work on a shoulder improvement project along a portion of U.S. 281/24 near Osborne the week of March 15, weather permitting.

Crews will be flattening out shoulder slopes and removing guardrail approximately 1 mile north of Osborne. Most of the work will take place off the roadway, however traffic may be reduced to one lane at times and controlled by flaggers. Motorists are reminded to slow down and stay alert when traveling near and through work zones.

Esfield Construction Inc. of Great Bend is the primary contractor for the $240,000 project. Work is expected to be completed in early May, weather permitting.
