Ellis County
Per Ellis County Resolution 2017-4, the Ellis County Fire Department is announcing the implementation of a temporary burn ban in all the unincorporated areas of Ellis County effective Monday, April 22.
While in a burn ban, this limits the open burning of garden/yard debris, pastures, ditches or other materials. However, normal household trash can still be burnt in a barrel with a protected screened cover.
The burn ban is being implemented due to the increasing temperatures, lower levels of humidity, and a long spell without significant measurable moisture throughout the entire county.
It is hopeful a significant amount of moisture will blanket Ellis County in the coming weeks. If so, an announcement will be made when the ban is lifted.
As always, if anyone ever questions if a fire is about to become out of control, or may see a potential fire, please call 911 immediately to get emergency personnel to respond as quickly as possible.
