Hays High hosted Goddard-Eisenhower on Thursday night in a Week 9 Bracket game, with the winner continuing their season.
It came down to the final drive and final seconds to decide the winner. Hays took the first lead of the game in the second quarter, after neither team managed points in the first. Eisenhower had the first chance to score but a botched snap on fourth and goal from the two, lost thirty-one yards.
The Indians broke the goal line for the first time on a Roy Moroni five yard run. The Jack Field's point after try gave Hays a 7-0 lead. Eisenhower answered right before the end of the second half with an eight yard touchdown pass. Their extra point missed leaving Hays with a 7-6 halftime advantage.
Highlights
Hays immediately took a lead a larger lead in the second half when Kyrese Groen scored on a 35 yard wide receiver reverse. The point after missed for a 13-6 lead with 11:07 left in the third quarter. Remy Stull intercepted a pass on the next drive and the Indian defense forced a short punt on the Eisenhower possession after that. However the Hays offense could not take advantage.
The Tigers would tie the game on a 23 yard touchdown run and extra point following an Jaren Kanak interception.
Each team had opportunities to take the lead, but missed field goals, dropped passes, and turnovers left the score tied at thirteen late in the game.

The Indians' final drive started at the fifteen yard line and took thirteen plays, but resulted in a Kanak one yard score with twelve seconds on the game clock at 19-13.
Eisenhower threw a series of laterals on their final play, but a final fumble was recovered by Will Cadoret to seal the 19-13 victory.
Roy Moroni finished the game with 113 rushing yards.
Hays improves to 7-2 and will play the winner of Andover and Salina South, who play tomorrow evening. Eisenhower ends their season at 5-4.
The 2021 Indians become just the ninth team in school history to play at least ten games in a season. It is the second time under Coach Tony Crough.
