📷 Grass fires burn Russell County fields

Two grass fires broke out Thursday afternoon in Russell County, keeping fire crews on the scene into the evening hours.

One fire was reported around 2 p.m. about 2 and a half miles south of Bunker Hill near Interstate 70, while another started around 12:20 p.m. near Lincoln and Pioneer roads.

Northwest winds were from 30 to 40 mph with gusts up to 65 mph.

Firefighters from Hays and Claflin, along with other surrounding fire and EMS agencies, assisted in bringing the fires under control.
