Living history event at Fort Larned Memorial Day weekend

Fort Larned NHS – It’s time once again for the biggest living history event in western Kansas – Memorial Day weekend at Fort Larned National Historic Site. Along with our usual living history groups and volunteers we have some special programs lined up for the weekend. Join us for the fun!

Saturday, May 27
10:00 a.m. – Blacksmith Demonstration
11:00 a.m. – Firing Demonstration with Small Arms, Howitzer and Ordnance Rifle
1:00 p.m. – Fort Larned Fashions
2:00 p.m. – Firing Demonstration with Small Arms, Howitzer and Ordnance Rifle
3:00 p.m. – Play Ball! 19th Century Baseball Game (the public is invited to join the fun!)
4:30 p.m. – Retreat Ceremony (flag lowering ceremony)

Sunday, May 28
10:00 a.m. – Blacksmith Demonstration
11:00 a.m. - Firing Demonstration with Small Arms, Howitzer and Ordnance Rifle
1:00 p.m. – Cemetery Program
2:00 p.m. - Firing Demonstration with Small Arms, Howitzer and Ordnance Rifle
3:00 p.m. – Kansas Music History – Speaker: Derrick Doty, Flint Hills Fiddler
4:30 p.m. – Retreat Ceremony (flag lowering ceremony)

Monday, May 29
10:00 a.m. – Blacksmith Demonstration
11:00 a.m. - Firing Demonstration with Small Arms and Howitzer
1:00 p.m. – Military Discipline at Fort Larned
2:00 p.m. - Firing Demonstration with Small Arms and Howitzer
3:00 p.m. – To Live or Die at Fort Larned: Army Medicine
4:30 p.m. – Retreat Ceremony (flag lowering ceremony)
