Those who have ever thought about learning to fly can find out more on Thursday as Experimental Aircraft Association Chapter 1655 hosts its second “Fly Now” informational program on learning to become a pilot. Attendees will be able to register for a free introductory training flight sponsored by Hays Aircraft.
EAA Chapter 1655 is a local organization that is part of the national Experimental Aircraft Association. The group is dedicated to growing participation in aviation by sharing the ways people can get started in this fun and fulfilling recreation and career.
The program will be from 7 to 8 p.m. Thursday at Thirsty’s Event Center, just off of 27th and Vine in Hays.
“Our first 'Fly Now' program was so successful, our room was overflowing, but it was exciting to see all the interest in flying and becoming a pilot," Chapter President Gary Shorman said.
Anyone interested in aviation is invited to attend. Local pilots will be on hand to discuss why and how they learned to fly. The meeting also will cover the steps and requirements for becoming a pilot, provide tips on how to make it economical, and provide information on how you can get started.
If you think piloting your own plane, soaring over the plains, might be fun … just wait till you get behind the control stick.
The Hays Chapter of the EAA is one of about 900 chapters around the world, which provide activities for local aviation enthusiasts with a mission of growing participation in aviation by sharing “The Spirit of Aviation.”
Chapter activities range from monthly meetings to airport open houses, fly-ins, educational programs, and special events that share aviation with the community and build a stronger bond between local aviation and the public.
