If you like to run or walk and would like to meet others with similar interests, then the Hays Area Road Runners might be for you. HARR members meet on Tuesdays at various locations around Hays (often at the former Hays Daily News building, 507 S. Main), but also in Plainville and Ellis. Through May 23, the group gathers at 6:30 p.m., but the time moves to 7 p.m. during the warmer days of summer (see schedule at tinyurl.com/HARR2023).
Members run a variety of courses 4 to 5 miles long or walk about 45 minutes, but shorter distances or times are fine as everyone ends up at the starting location. Most of the grouptypically meets again shortly after each run for food, drink, and conversation.
Runners and walkers of all abilities and ages are welcome. Currently, we range in age from 30s to 70s, run 8- to 11-minute per mile pace, and walk at about 16- to 18-minute per mile pace.
