Trinity Lutheran Church will hold a BBQ dinner to benefit First Call for Help of Ellis County. The meal will take place from 11 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. Sunday, April 26, at the VFW, 2106 Vine St. in Hays.

On the menu will be BBQ pulled pork, chicken, brisket, and ribs; potato salad; coleslaw; and a variety of desserts. Free-will donations will be accepted.

Trinity Pastor Brenda Roger said that a donor covers the expense of the meal.

“The volunteers of Trinity and the VFW and First Call for Help come alongside to make it an enjoyable event benefiting the community. We also could not do this without the wonderful location, kitchen, dining hall, and the volunteers that the VFW helps to provide.”

She said that last year the church’s BBQ dinner benefit for First Call raised more than $4,800. “We appreciate the generosity of those that attend to help make this donation possible.

“It is important for the congregation at Trinity Lutheran to help with this event because it gets us out of the church building to serve with others in our community,” Roger said. “Throughout scripture we are called to love and care for our neighbors. This is a wonderful way to serve the community of Hays with a great meal and to provide funds to benefit those in need.”
